  • The End Of Bayezıd And His Sons | Magnificent Century "BAYEZID PASSES AWAY"
Magnificent Century Episode 138: • Magnificent Century Ep...
Prince Bayezid is walking towards death!
The letters Bayezid has written rips Suleiman's heart out. Suleiman wants Bayezid to be given in to him alive. Bayezid gets afraid that the same thing has happened to Prince Mustafa will happen to him and doesn't trust his father. Selim does everything so Bayezid to be given in to him. Bayezid gets cornered and looks for a way out from Iran. However, he gets trapped during the feast given by Tahmasb I. The bloody feast ends in a horrifying way. Nurbanu considers Bayezid's son Mehmet as a threat and takes an action. Defne sees a bitter surprise when she returns to Amasya. Bayezid and his sons receive some news just as they start to lose their hopes. As they walk towards that hope, Bayezid sees someone before him that he understands he can't run away from death and he walks towards the death with his head held high. As another piece of Sultan Suleiman's soul slips through his fingers, life loses its meaning.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.
Cast: Halit Ergenç, Nebahat Çehre, Meryem Uzerli, Okan Yalabık, Nur Aysan, Selma Ergeç, Sema Keçik, Filiz Ahmet, Selim Bayraktar, Selen Öztürk, Nihan Büyükağaç, Burcu Tuna, Merve Oflaz, Arif Erkin, Ali Uyandıran, Alp Öyken, Murat Tüzün, Doğan Turan, Gökhan Çelebi, Yüksel Ünal.

The saddest and most tragic scene in the entire series. Yes Mustafa's was also very tragic but nothing beats the acting and yelling of Aras Bulut Iynemli! The second his children fall on the ground and Bayezid yells again, my heart couldn't take it, tears just kept coming! Amazing, yet very tragic, scene.

Horrifying when you consider that his mother was Hurrem who did so much evil to prevent this very fate from befalling Bayezid. All of that innocent blood spilled including the death of two of her other sons to know on her deathbed the fate of her precious son was sealed. And her other son and husband, not her 'worst enemy' were the ones to administer this hideous act.

This is just so sad Honestly. The Ottoman empire started off with Brotherhood. After Osman I died, his eldest Son Orhan asked his younger brother Aladdin if they should rule together but his brother knew it would cause problems in the future so he declined. Orhan still wanted his brother to participate in the empire and made Aladdin the first grand vizier Pasha in the empire. Osman and Orhan would be ashamed of what their successors are doing.

Although Hürrem relieved with Mustafa’s death, unfortunately not everything happened as she expected. Cihangir’s death moved her down a slope, and then Bayezid’s hostility towards Selim finally pulled the ground out from under her feet. Although Hürrem supported Bayezid, it is unlikely that she wanted to see him on the throne, she merely wanted a more balanced struggle between her two surviving sons, as the sultan - though not openly - favored Selim. In addition, Hürrem may have feared that if Bayezid was left without a supporter, he would openly revolt against his father and brother. He tried his best to keep Bayezid in control, for he feared that he would annoy the sultan until he would get the same destiny as Mustafa.

In a way, Bayezid was ultimately right. Selim was remembered as a drunk sultan, and died from an accident in a bathhouse.
However, Bayezid's execution was in no way similar to the Red Wedding. The former was punished for rebellion, while the Starks were stabbed in the back by their vassals only after Tywin offered Walder Frey and Roose Bolton with an opportunity to supplant their overlords as the new Lord Paramounts of the Riverlands and the North respectively.
Also, Mehmed also cursed Osman while he was being executed too.

Selim II was not that bad. He was not warrior like his father Suleiman. But he was generous enough to the people during the time of their need. He conquered Cyprus and despite the loss in the battle of Lepanto, he later managed to reconquer Tunis from Spain in 1574. He also concluded peace treaty with Habsburgs and Russia, which were required at that moment to bring stability in the economy of the empire as Ottomans were facing financial stress due to constant war of Suleiman. Ottomans were also able to maintain their naval supremacy despite their defeat in Lepanto.
Keep it in mind that Selim II left a healthy Ottoman treasury, which in turn became helpful for his son Murad III to continue his 12 years long ottoman-safavid war. Even if Mustafa or Bayezid had become Sultan, it would be impossible for them to start large scale wars due to the economic condition. Suleiman was able to start so many wars due to the healthy treasury left by his father Selim I, which was accumulated through his conquest of levant and Egypt.

Of course not, because either they (the sultan) are going to get themselves killed, will get many others killed while trying to protect you. As much as you'd like to say otherwise, this show definitely had an agenda. Portraying two Ottoman Sultans in a negative light and two Şehzades, one of which rebelled and humiliated the Empire by running to their rivals, in a positive light. As much as I love Mustafa in this, no way was he ever this much of a goody two-shoes. At least make his character more complex and interesting. Although Hürrem's portrayal puzzled me. At times, she was made to be a total psychopath and evil, and other times, she was portrayed as an innocent who did what she had to do to survive. No wonder why this show was shunned by President Erdoğan and members of the House of Osman

This show definitely had an agenda that they pushed. Only a fool would think otherwise.. I agree, that Mustafa was probably way more complex than the goody two shoes they portrayed him as...i mean come on he was a 38 year old man at his execution, he was not a young and naive boy. Bayezid is painted as a victim too, when in fact he did rebell. I can also understand why their was backlash from portraying the House of Osman inaccurately

I think the show had more of a pro-military agenda than anything else. When you consider the portrayals of Mustafa, Bayezid and Barbarossa as the most straightforward heroes in the series. And as for Süleyman his military actions get a heroic treatment as well. As for Hürrem, her wriitng went from sympathetic and understandable to scaepgoat when it was convenient. That is until the writers found a new scapegoat - Nurbanu. It's very Robert Graves.

The fact is, this was how it worked back then. One brother would ascend and the rest would die. This included any male siblings sons. When they did stop killing them, it changed to imprisonment with some death thrown in. In real life, Cihangir wasn't close to Mustafa and was ok with him dying. Why? Because Suleiman warned him that Mustafa wouldn't spare his life if he ascended the throne. When Mustafa died he felt a bit more secure figuring Selim may spare him.

On 25 september 1961, bayezid and his sons were executed by Ali Aqa Chavush Bashi on the orders of Suleiman not Selim in Qazvin. Both Sulieman and Selim were working together to get Bayezid back from Tahmasp so you should show the reality. Not like this that Suleiman wanted to forgive Bayezid because he was the one who gave orders.
