    I honestly have to say, I bought this as my first digital piano and I am so glad I did. If you are thinking about buying your first digital piano with the intention of learning to play piano, but are also keen to start making music with electronic elements, maybe with other instruments or a DAW, this is the perfect instrument in this price range. Also the feel is incredibly realistic and natural, I don't think it falls behind it's rivals here - not to a beginner anyway.
    Whilst you can probably get more realistic piano sounds and textures with roland or yamaha models of this calibre, you sacrifice the fun this thing brings! The 700 sounds perform differently with the sustain pedal and you can get some really cool synthy effects and there's even a soundpack of a chinese street market! Also having a pitch wheel is such a bonus I think, once you start messing about with the reverb, and once you get comfortable with it tactilely, you can get some really quality sounds going even if you don't know how to play properly.

      I have the CDP 220R and I can tell you that Casio DPs can teach you to play the piano. I suspect this newer model is no different. I have nothing but respect for their songbook too which is nothing short of excellent. It is well thought out. With basic scales and regular practice, you can really learn quickly enhanced with youtube tutors of your choice.

    Thanks for making these videos. I have owned the Casio CDP 100 and even though it was simple it generated a leap forward in my musical abilities. Never would have considered a digital piano over a plastic keyboard but I had a music instructor who said a minimum 88 weighted hammer action keys is required to properly study. That was a pivotal moment . Now I am in the process of building a new home studio and this keyboard is definitely one I am looking at. Very grateful for your knowledge and talent.

    This is one of the better videos I have found on this instrument, thanks Jeremy!
    I like how you give your sincere opinions of sound quality at 3:50 and again at 4:57 or so.
    Learning how to set up our keyboard /piano is very helpful in starting out as it helps us enjoy the instrument from the beginning.
    Personally, I am looking to buy a good student piano w/ some arranger functions for fun, so my focus now is on sound quality.

    Thanks for your detailed review... I finally decided to purchase a CDP-S350, then at the last minute, I saw an amazing open box deal at BB online for a FP-10. It was priced considerably less expensive then the Casio so I ordered the Roland instead. After watching this video and a few others I decided to cancel the order for the FP-10 and get the Casio. The FP-10 is a great piano but I feel that I will have much more fun with the CDP-S350.

    Casio is releasing bunch OF REALLY REALLY NEW COMPACT DIGITAL PIANOS. The design made me moist.
    Im looking into casio now to invest another digital piano. Looking into the CASIO PX-S1000. SOLID BUILD I LIKE THE DESIGN.
    CDP is really really refine now. im liking the look. but in terms sound quality and action, i think the privia is a step up of CDP series.

    Jeremy I want to thank you for your thorough and informative videos. I am one of your subscribers. I purchased a Casio CDP-S350 which has 700 voices and a Yamaha MX49 which has 1000. Manufacturers seem to want to sell their keyboards based on how many voices they have. I am overwhelmed by this! I wish that they give us a few relevant voices from the past of musical history.

    • @JeremySee
      @JeremySee  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a numbers game 😥 manufacturers should focus on giving quality, useful sounds! Thank you for sharing buddy.

    • @bitsurfr46
      @bitsurfr46 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part of the problem is the naivete of the public. I looked at the Privia. PX - S 1000 and 3000. The 1000 has 18 voices. Somehow we've come to believe that the S3000 with 700 voices for only $200.more is a better bargain. I have come to think 18 of the right voices is all you need.

    • @bitsurfr46
      @bitsurfr46 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had a few more days playing the CDP-S350 and the MX49. Now the MX49 is a very capable and economical instrument. Especially for music producers. But I prefer the sound of the CDP-S350. The grand piano especially. And its louder even with the MX49s volume all the way up. As I said the MX comes with a 1000 voices. To my ear(which is pretty good BTW) many of them sound alike. They could have gotten by with 100 distinctive voices and saved us from scrolling through the others.

    Hello Jeremy
    You have been a great help to me for selecting my 2nd piano. I used to play acoustic upright piano but now I am living abroad so i am looking forward to buy a digital piano. I actually want to buy Roland juno ds 88 but the price seems a bit too high for me. So I was looking around for a realistic feeling digital piano that also has midi connection and chance to use it as a synthesizer. Do you think this model worths extra money for my purpose than the Casio cdp-s100 or yamaha p 45?

    Hey, Jeremy. My pastor/worship leader was looking at this keyboard and was going to buy it, but someone heard about it and donated to us. So, now I have an 88 key awesome piano to use whenever I have free tine to go to church since I have the keys.
    You comments at the end were spot on. Especially an 88 keyboard at this level should have dedicated stereo 1/4" Audio outputs, and maybe both 24" and minijack headphone outputs. The modulation control woukd be nice, but at least it has pitch bend.

      @@JeremySee Yes. I will probably go back tomorrow after my chiropractor, since I have to drop something off. I have options now. Maybe get the Keyscaoes when I get a good new laptop. For now, I think the Go:Keys, JD-XP will be fine with the Casio CT-S1 that I plan to get soon, those Audio technica headphones, and the yamaha reface CP I still must get for the portability, sounds and effects. My 30 watt JBL charge 4 speaker with minijack input put out nice soubd, too. I can do a lot when I get that Boss Micro BR/BR 80 recorder. I just need more room at home. But I can't complain.

    Excellent Review. Fair and honest. The instrument seems excellent for the money. For me, it misses more User Rhythms. I don't get why Casio is focusing only on 10? Some keyboards like WK 7500 and ( I think) X 5000 have 100, and that's great. One can tweak the current and import new ones.

The feel would probably be more important than the sound. As I don't know much about pianos, are there any on this list that you would or would not recommend specifically? I was originally looking at the B2, but the small price jump to the CDP-S350 might be worth it?

    Hi there, I just wanted to say thanks for the informative videos and reviews! Im a beginner pianist but an avid music enthusiast and thanks to you ive decided this is my first keyboard to start! I love the sound and versatility of it. Once question I have is for the triple peddle that I can get for this piano, does it need a particular stand or can it be on its own? Thanks in advance!

    Hello. Jeremy ....I'm a beginner, I was about to buy px s1000 but I just found out about its key weight problems which makes feel worried on how my fingers will be educated since I'll be taking private lessons with an acoustic piano and then going back home to my own one, so which one should I go for? Px s1000 or cdp s350?

    Hi again, just wondering, does the CDP-S350 model has the same, audible shortcuts (to change sounds, for example) as the CDP-S100? Thanks as always!

      S350 has a screen. Easier to see what you are selecting.

    Hi, i'm just about to start in the piano world. I want a instrument with a lot of voices but my budget is a little tight. Should I go better for a cdps 100 and use it as a midi controller when I need more voices??

    Would you say the CASIO CDP-S350 has the same weighting problem where the black and white keys are different weight like in the casio px s1000 and 3000?

    17:50 . But if you store a piano sound of your taste in Registration Memory Bank 1, slot 1, you can access it quickly, don't you?

    Despite my concerns I purchased this keyboard recently.
    I'm disappointed with the Chorus control. I would have liked much more variable adjustment.
    It seems I do not have Reverb control on some of the Tones. I wonder why.
    All in all, I'm happy. I'm not sure about the wisdom of the all important 'function/number button and wheel' design, though.
    I know it cuts down on dedicated buttons, but as you suggested, some desired buttons are missing. It would be cool if the default Tone could be selected and set.
    As composer, I do have a favorite Voice/Tone.
    That may be changing, as different voices can inspire new ideas.
    I also miss the option of having the system remain in the transposed key I set before I turned it off. Maybe it's there and I just haven't found it yet.
    I love the 'Chorus E. Piano' voice of my Yamaha P-250, but the keyboard is too heavy to carry around.
    I hope that I can adjust the CASIO to make a sound as close as possible to that Yamaha Chorus E. Piano voice. It was just right. I could perhaps link the CASIO to the YAMAHA and get the CASIO to use the YAMAHA voice.
    I would have liked a global Chorus and Reverb control. Oh well.
    Will CASIO offer firmware upgrades?
    It would be cool if they offered other Tones one could trade for.

    How do I connect this to speaker on stage? Would I plug into the “phones” port? The other end would either need to be an xlr cable or a 1/4in cord

    This is a good product but I noticed there is no Aux Plug in to connect to PA system which is needed for stage performance which Casio should consider!

    Hi Jeremy, really like your video’s, big help on narrowing down choosing a new set of keys. I learned playing organ, so i’m not a piaonoplayer. Would like to grow in that direction. But played the roland fp30 in the home of a relative, but for me is a bit too heavy now. I like the casio CDP S350 a lot (it cost euro 496), but how is the playing on that keybed compared to roland? Is the casio a bit lighter on the touch? An answer would help me a lot, got no shop close by to try it for myself.

    • @JeremySee
      @JeremySee  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FP30 is closer to the touch of a real piano. But S350 touch is better for the other sounds found in it.

    Hey Jeremy,
    Please could you advise me on what the best battery powered digital piano (that isn't casio, I do not like their signature sound) for under £500 is please? I am a beginner as well so a piano with phone connectivity so i can learn from apps would be super helpful.
    Any advice would be super appreciated. Keep up the good work!!

    Hi Jeremy, I recently bought this keyboard and it’s great!
    I’m having trouble connecting my keyboard to software such as Audacity. How would you go about doing this?

    • @JeremySee

      You need an audio interface. Audacity works with audio inputs.

    Does the CDP-S350 and CDP-S100 have the new action found in the PX-S1000/3000? If not, how would you compare the feel on the CDP-S vs PX-S models.
