  • Do you have a diagnostic tool scanner showing that your seat belt pretensioner is bad by sending SRS diagnostic trouble codes (DTC)? This often occurs due to manufacturer defects, regular wear and tear, and most commonly, vehicle collisions. Here is a simple way to test if your seat belt pretensioner is "good" or" bad" and requires repair from MyAirbags.

    how would i go about tricking the car into thinking there is a seat belt tensioner sensor in the car? Do i just need a 2oh resistor plugged into the plug?

      You can put a 2 ohm resistor to by pass the seat belt if you are removing the seat belts and have aftermarket racing seats. We dont recommend doing that since it is a safety concern.

    There are two ports in the seat belt unit. Which one to test?

      The one that connects to the pyro sensor side. Usually looks like a tube.

    Mine didn't read at all and failed the rattle test. Got a new one from yard for $14.

    I seen where one or more DIY videos on this subject using the same or similar technique as yours say a much higher Ohm reading of say 12-15 indicates it's good, therefore, I'm a bit confused! Lol! Now I'm using an inexpensive Harbor Freight multimeter with a baseline of 1 when I set it on the lowest Ohm setting of 200. Please eloborate and also is this the same for pretensioner of most vehicles? Thanks!!

      Yes it is same for all vehicles. Needs to be between 2 - 3 OHMs

    I have a 2005 town car. Using my ohm meter, it stays at 1. I fully removed the the shorting bar to be sure. But then I used a 2 ohm resister as a bypass test and the air bag light was still on. Sometimes flashes 33 sometimes 34.

      The resistance needs to be between 2 to 3 OHMs for a good seat belt. Your seat belt is bad and needs to be replaced or repaired. Are you using 2 ohm or 2k ohms. Needs to be 2 ohms.

      @@MyAirbags the lowest setting on my meter is 200. I just tried the passenger side and neither one has resistance. My codes are 33 and 34 which is both sides. They both went out at the same time? Or is it the air bag control module?

    • @MyAirbags
      @MyAirbags  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jeffflowers729 it sounds like the seat belts. You can also use your scanner to see what the resistance is on the seat belts.

      @@MyAirbags both of them? where would I test that? I found the code is 2292

    • @MyAirbags
      @MyAirbags  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jeffflowers729 yeah that is hard to imagine that both went out at the same time. But if the ohm reading is not between 2 - 3 ohms then it is a bad seat belt.

    • @MyAirbags
      @MyAirbags  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andresb2834 We do not recommend that because it will just simulate a good seat belt. The seat belt would still not work as designed if there was another accident event. Do not recommend resistor.
