I never thought about being able to double my width. Admittedly I’m new to all this. Im currently warping up my loom for my 2nd ever project. I love your videos!
I have been waiting for a clear explanation of double width weaving! I can't believe you were able to pack all the vital information into 20min!! Hope to make a little practice project over Christmas. Many many thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I’ve been searching for a video like this since I started with my rigid heddle loom. Thank you for making it so easy to understand. The diagrams and crib cards are great. Now I’m off to look at your warp tensioning video. I think that will also be a game changer.👍
Thank you for this video. I have been wanting to make a double weave blanket scarf on my 16” RH loom but did not know how to set up the loom to do it. I could use my floor loom but the reeds I have are too fine for the yarn. I saw in another one of your video’s that the heddle fell and you had to warp from scratch. As soon as I saw all those threads for this weave I thought about that mishap so I have a tip. I’ve seen other weavers use weavers tie /secure the heddle to the front and back beams to prevent it from moving and falling off the loom. They also tie little bundles so if it does fall they don’t lose the threading. Happy weaving!
Hi, lovely video. Difficult to see which shed you start in and the sequence of sheds being woven. Can you clarify? Much thanks, really enjoy your work.
Hello! Thank you. ☺️ Here it is. 1. Both heddles neutral, pick up stick B on edge (bottom pick up stick). 2. Back heddle up, (all else neutral). 3. Heddles neutral, pick up stick A on edge (top pick up stick). 4. Front heddle down (all else neutral). That’s it! Repeat these four until finished. Good luck !
Very grateful for this video! One question: When I put in pickup sticks A and B, If I put Pickup B in first, under that upper pair of threads created with the heddles in the down position, then with Pickup A, pickup one of those two threads - will the remaining threads of each pair left behind on Pickup B be the correct set of threads for Pickup B? I’m trying this because my eyesight is confused by the multiple layers of threads seen, and if I just grab that upper pair of threads with Pickup B, I can see those clearly to separate them onto the Pickups - but it’s only good if it’s correct! Many Thanks for your help!
Thank you for a great video. I can't seem to find the "sequel" in which you show us the finished project. Can you tell me the title of that video? Thank you!
I only have one heddle and it is difficult for me to buy a second one. Is there any way that I can weave double width with only one heddle and pick up sticks? I'm really new to weaving.
Hello! I don’t know of a way to do this without 2 heddles. The first heddle is 2 shafts, the second heddle and two pick up sticks add another 3, so it’s a 5 shaft pattern. There might be a way to have 1 heddle and 3 pick up sticks? But that would take some brain power to work out.

I'm so glad my videos are helping! Thank you!
Thank you so much, this is the clearest video I have found on how to do double width weaving on a rigid heddle!
You're very welcome!
Again, a very clear explanation. The little cards with 'instructions' is a great idea.
Glad it was helpful!

Clearest explanation of warping for double width I have ever seen. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I’m not ready for this yet but def want to use this skill in the future! Thanks so much for sharing your method!! 💛
Thank you! That’s the great thing about you tube, they’ll be here when you are ready xx
Yea, me either, I'm like 😲. I'm just getting started.. I will just sew 2 pieces together.. lol But I hope I can learn this!
Yours is the best demonstration of double weaving that I have seen. Thank you.
Thank you so much!

Thanks!
Thank you! Very generous! 💕
Very clear explanation. Thank you so much.

I can’t picture it, but try it and see if you get clear 4 layers of threads. Then do a couple of picks to make sure. Let me know how you go!

Hello! I made a beautiful double width blanket shawl, and, lost all the footage due to a corrupt SD card 🥺😭 so unfortunately there isn’t one.
I believe I have threaded correctly but something is amiss...do my warp ends need to be an even number? Sometimes I am not catching an edge?
Hello! Yes, they do need to be an even number. You may have double threaded somewhere? It’s easy to do with so many ends!
Is the threading for double WIDTH weaving the same as for double SETT??
Hello! Yes it is! Then the placement of the pick up sticks defines the two layers 😊
