i'm kind of glad they chose the "cheaper" route when it came to animation and whatnot? she's right the movie does have a very home-y and comfy feel like watching this movie to me is the equivalent of a warm blanket
I feel that way while watching the original Winnie the Pooh.

Lilo & Stitch was my favorite movie growing up. I was obsessed with it. It's also the reason I love Elvis so much.
I've always loved Lilo & Stitch. It hits you right in the feels and is an amazing piece of art.
Lilo & Stitch is one of my favorite Disney movies!! I really feel for Nani, because I'm the oldest, with my youngest brother having about the same age difference as Nani and Lilo, and I can't even imagine trying to raise my brothers by myself so young. I always bawl my eyes out in the part where they're singing on the hammock.
I love how Nani does everything she can to validate Lilo. She doesn't let the pet shop lady tell her Stitch isn't a real name. When she wants a lobster, she doesn't say "Lilo you're an idiot a lobster isn't a pet" she simply points out they have a dog door, not a lobster door. She lets Lilo believe her manager is a vampire, and she spends God knows how much money developing all of Lilo's pictures. I think on some level, Nani realizes all this is Lilo's way of coping with their parents' deaths. Everyone needs a person like Nani.
Before, I had taken the Hawaiian aspects of Lilo and Stitch for granted and didn't think they were probably that accurate. Now in college, one of my friends is actually from Hawaii, and she told me that the movie totally captured how it felt to live in Hawaii, and that the idea of "ohana" is an actual thing that people say there. Amazing
Stitch is my all time favorite Disney character. I saw this movie in theater when I was 13, with my older sister and her family. My sister, who is 7 years older then me, took me for I don't even know why reasons to see this movie that I had no idea what it was going to be, just that it was Disney.
I was "eh this movie is okay" until Stitch says "This is my family, I found it all on my own. It's little and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good." that tiny, tiny moment hit me so hard and in such a way that it never left. He became such an important character to me and still to this day means more to me then any other Disney character of my childhood ever has. My life has had horrible bumps, but my tiny little family is mine and it's still good and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Not even being Captian of the Galactic Armada and my own BRB9000!
Stitch is hands down MY FAVOURITE DISNEY FILM EVER! One of my favourite things about it is how realistic Nani is with her curves, no one has the body of a typical Disney princess!
Lilo and Stitch is such a beautiful film! Definitely one of my favorite soundtracks growing up!
I always loved the fact that all the humans looked so realistic, when so often Disney's style makes women look really unrealistic ...
Lilo & Stitch is my personal favorite movie of all time. I love the culture and the bond that Lilo & Stitch create. I always make an effort to see Stitch when I visit Disney World
I alwaysssss lose my mind for Stitch at Magical Map & hearing everyone elses reaction to him too is the best part, I love it.

Sarah thank you for doing this! I saw Lilo & Stitch FIVE TIMES in theaters when I was growing up and to this day it's my favorite Disney movie. Lilo was (and is) so relatable to me and Stitch is so gosh-darn cute. I cried every time Nani sang her goodbye song to Lilo. All around this movie still gives me feels and this comment is too long but I was very excited. So yeah, thanks
Lilo and Stitch is one of my favorite disney movies, i remember when i was 3, i would always dress as Lilo, carry my big Stitch stuffed toy, and sing Elvis Presley songs.....ahhh, great memories
I've loved Lilo and Stitch ever since I was little, its my favorite movie ever, I'm certain I can quote the movie, from beginning to end, that's how much I love it. I love bonding over it, Lilo and Stitch are my friends, that movie is just wonderful.
I remember seeing Mickey and the magical map when it first came out. Stitch was the only character to NOT make an appearance. The music would play and children would start screaming "STITCH!!!!!" and then no one showed up not even lilo and the dancers would just keep dancing. Children started crying. I remember people would wait to talk to CM's to complain and they would sent them to man street to make a formal complaint. About two months later Stitch was added into the show

Lilo and Stitch is literally my favorite movie. In first grade I got a kitten and my family didn't know what to name it. I went to my room to grab something and, at the time, I had a lilo and stitch poster. I literally ran the fasted I had ever ran down the stairs yelling," His name is Stitch!!" I still have him, he is my favorite cat😊
I recently watched Lilo & Stitch for the first time. I was about 15 when it came out, and I wasn't in to it at th time, I thought it seemed too childish. However when I wacthed it now as an adult, I abolutely loved it. And I was so touched by it. Especially the part about family - "never leave anyone behind". It almost made me cry since I grew up feeling left out and unwanted both in school and at home. So now this movie is one of my favorites. Haha, maybe I'll go watch it again. ;D

I just re watched lilo and stitch today and started crying because I forgot how sweet the movie is.
Thank you so much for making this video! Lilo and Stitch has always been my favorite movie (well, at least since 2002). I have always connected in some way to Nani, Lilo, and Stitch for different reasons, but they all transcend the typical movie archetypes. I even say that for a long time, I was lost like Lilo and my fiancé came into my life to "Stitch" be back together :) and I definitely think this is such an underrated movie, with an amazing plot and great characters

I love Lilo & Stitch, looked very different but the soundtrack with Elvis and the Hawaiian theme make it stand out... made my day bumping into stitch at the park !!! Aloha!!
The soundtrack of this movie was my jam as a kid. It was the start of my love for Elvis too!!!

Lilo and Stitch inspired me immensely when I was young. I drew them ALL the time. its the movie that made me know in my heart what I wanted to do in my life: animate amazing films like Lilo and Stitch. It was such an impact on me when I was little and even today. I threw Hawaiian parties every birthday until I was 10, visited Hawaii and pretended I was Lilo when I was 5, and the How to Draw Lilo and Stitch book was one of the first things I remember that helped me learn more about art and cultivate the natural talent I already had/have.
I know Disney did the backgrounds on watercolor to save budget, but it added to the charm and atmosphere. The character designs, round soft shapes, and coziness of the world was and is such a pleasure for the eyes. And Lilos story in particular hits my heart every time, and was especially influential on me when I was young. I always felt a bit detached and alone, often called weird. Knowing a cartoon character could feel the same helped me. Lilo taught me that it's ok to be myself. And stitch was such a joy to see in the film. I also enjoyed the cartoon series, it was hilarious...but the original movie will always hold true to my heart.
also I could tell you SO many facts about the film and Chris Sanders himself. I follow him on Deviantart, and spent hours watching the DVD behind the scenes. Chris lived/is living my dream. He made a film he was privileged to pitch his idea after years of working as a storyboard artist for Disney ( his sketch of Mulan is featured at Disneyland in the animation building), and was able to direct a whole movie modeled after his unique art style. and that's one of the reasons why I love the movie, because it looks so different from the typical style that most Disney films had at the time. no Chris works as a director for many different films.
I can only hope that one day my dreams come true as well. I hope one day I can make a movie as magical emotionally touching Lilo and stitch is.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Lilo and Stitch, I can't even begin to express my love for this movie! I remember when my dad took my to Disneyland Paris about six years ago-Stitch is HUGE over there, and I had no idea, so I was blown away by all the Stitch merchandise. There's even an Angel costume character that comes out that doesn't make an appearance in Disneyland or Disney World! Loved this video :)

LILO and Stitch is probably one of my all time favorite Disney movies I watched! From a young age it made me become obsessed with Hawaii and every summer I would beg my parents to vacation there. I also could relate with LILO in a sense growing up and not feeling apart of a group of friends and finding my way. Last summer I made it my dying mission to go find and meet stitch in WDW in tomorrow land! Sadly the day he was doing meet and greets was the day I left WDW, but I got a plush of stitch so it's all good 😂

Stitch is my favorite Disney character ever. He so cute and lovable and I just wanna cuddle him forever. 😍
The largest plush we sold at Walt Disney World was a giant 22" Stitch plush, even bigger than the biggest Mickey! And he FLEW off the shelves, nearly as fast as the Frozen and Star Wars merch, which is pretty amazing for a character that is over a decade old. He also recently started doing meet-and-greets at the front of Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom, and he's suuuuper popular. I'm amazed that he's stayed so relevant and memorable in Disney pop culture! Stitch is truly going to go down in history as a classic character.

I LOVE Lilo and Stitch! I was Lilo this past Halloween! I think everyone loves stitch, but Lilo and Nani are such great characters and they often get overlooked.
I love Lilo and Stitch :) and holy shit I'm so glad it takes place in Hawaii and not Kansas. The setting completely makes the film.
I only watched lilo and stich very recently, but I remember that commercial where stich interrupts the ballroom scene from beauty and the beast!

That commercial... I was crazy for the little mermaid at the time and was expected ariel to appear in the movie. I remember myself dying to go to the bathroom during the movie but I can't because I'm afraid I'm going to miss the part with ariel in it which turn out to be, there's no ariel in the actual film. I was disappointed because I don't understand what a commercial is at the age of four... It's a great movie tho.

Stich is my favorit Disney Character, from my favorite Disney Movie and I like the other 3 movies aswell. And In Kingdom Hearts 2 he is a really overpowert summon. Even Lingering Will knells before his might.
Lilo and Stitch is one of my brother's favorite movies from Disney (just behind Toy Story and The Nightmare Before Christmas).
I remember so much watching that movie as a child and later the cartoon series and my brother making me draw all the experiments.
That movie is gorgeous both esthetically and meaning and I will forever cherish all memories.
Jeez, I had so much Lilo and Stitch stuff. I had Lilo's grass skirt, I had a stuffed Stitch toy. I remember that movie came out in the beginning of summer and even though I live in Kentucky, I would put on my grass skirt and go outside and pretend I lived in Hawaii.

I have never seen this movie. Now, I want to see it! Great points about this film. This is perfect to watch before staying at the poly in WDW. I would love, Sarah, if you would do a down to disness for Bed a Knobs and Broomsticks. Omg! You did one of my favorite movies! I'm so glad you did Lilo and Stich. I liked how you brought up that Elvis was in the soundtrack because it was how I discovered him and after I watched the movie I just wanted to listen to nothing but Elvis lol. My parents got me his greatest hits cd that became my first ever album that I owned and still own to this day all because of Lilo and Stitch. I'm still waiting on The Lion King lol!

This is one of my top Disney movies! I love quoting and and watching. I get so excited when I see the characters in the parks. My sister and brother and I even did a dance to one of the Hawaiian songs on the soundtrack for a school graduation. It has such a special place in my heart. And I love doing the peanut butter monologue. :)

I have read some of the comments below, and everyone has great picks! You have already covered many of my favorites, so it would be hard for me to pick one over another, but it would be nice to hear about Tangled since it was the 50th animated film.
I'm slightly interested in the alien language that Stitch spoke in the film, along with its sequels and TV series. It's called Tantalog and there's a whole article about it on Disney Wiki.
I didn't appreciate Lilo and Stitch when it came out. I was 12, and used to Disney movies being very conservative and not touching on things that may be harsh truths (like child protective services potentially taking Lilo away) (also, adulting is really hard and I'm glad it shows a good person trying really hard (Nani) but Lilo just keeps shooting it down unknowingly as kids are sometimes wont to do.) My point is, when I saw this movie more recently with my younger brother, I now understand things about it that make it so relatable and heartfelt. Also, Nani's boyfriend (I forget his name) is really sweet. Their relationship is a breath of fresh air, and there needs to be more of that in real life.

I only watched Lilo and Stitch quite recently actually and was surprised how much I enjoyed it! I loved the music and the message. This was really interesting to learn about the watercolour backgrounds etc. Love these Down to Disness videos, I learn so much! Have you done Pocahontas? I don't think you have. Please do Pocahontas, and Hunchback of Notre Dame! Xxx

I remember reading that Lilo and Stitch was originally going to be set in Kansas. i mean, Wizard of Oz anyone? Lilo would be like the Disney equivalent of Dorothy Gale. Then again, if it were set in a rural area, like Kansas, it would have country music instead of Elvis songs. I mean, the soundtrack could've had Johnny Cash songs, or something, although that singer was from Tennesee. I would explain more on that subject, if I could, but you get my point.
I wish they had kept that tourist scene in the movie! I'm native Hawaiian and live in Hawaii so it would've been so cool to see it in the movie... that's okay, it's still so great!
