I am a huge Peter Pan fan, always have been for both the movie and the original story. I'm glad you talked about the hospital owning the rights because I think that's one of the best moves any artist has ever made. That said, can we at least acknowledge the blatant racism in that movie/story? It happened guys, let's not pretend it didn't.
I would love to see a Down to Disness on the Hunchback of Notre Dame! That movie is so underrated! :( It's one of my favorites!

While the TinkerBell movies may not be of the upmost quality we've come to expect from Disney, TinkerBell and the Legend of the Neverbeast made me BAWL MY EYES FROM MY SKULL. So good. The ending, just everything. A great sendoff since it is the last film in that series.
Ps. PLEASE do Princess and the Frog next. It's my #1 fave. Self-empowering princesses for the win!

I actually cried while watching this, I think Peter Pan really does have a special place for Disney fans as it does embody us not wanting to grow up. I love your down to Disness series. 😊

UK doesn’t have medical bills, no matter how much money you have everyone has free healthcare here. The funding goes to the building and the specialised care for children, it’s an amazing hospital. Great vid !
That was cool idea to leave the rights to a hospital. I've always wonder why people talk about Peter Pan and Wendy Darling being a couple because even though I don't remember actually watching the sequel, I do remember hearing over and over again "I'm her daughter, Jane!" which obviously means that Peter and Wendy do not get together. I also think it's funny how a big symbol of magic and Disney tried to get Wendy killed because of jealousy. I know she changed, but it's still funny.

Please do lady and the tramp. This movie has the saddest scene of all time, when all the dogs are at the kennel. It's so touching because they are howling a song... a very very sad one. I cry every time I watch it and tears came to my eyes when I remember it...it's so sad (and beautifully made by the animators) :')
Another great episode. Peter Pan holds a special place in my heart. My aunt took me to see in in 1976, and it was the first movie I remember watching in a non drive-in theater.
Your ending thoughts on Peter Pan symbolizing Disney magic as a whole really pulled on my heart strings...and now I'm tearing up a bit. I loved this episode of Down to Disness!! Thank you for this one

Tangled! It's my favorite "recent" disney movie. I could watch it over and over and it never gets old and I always cry during the lantern scene.

I met Margaret Carrie at comic con when I was about 12 or 13. She is one of the sweetest person I've ever met, and even though she's much older now she is still as beautiful as she was when she filmed Peter Pan.
I was so happy you chose Peter Pan for this month! For next month, will you do an early renaissance movie (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid)?
Finding Neverland was the saddest movie I've ever seen. I gave up trying not to cry, and tried not to cry out loud. I failed at that, too.
This is probably my favorite down to Disness thus far. So glad you ended it where you did because I started to tear up as well! ♡°○°♡
The second Peter Pan movie makes me cry because of the dad being away with the army and my dad is in the army (there for away a lot) so that film is pretty much impossible for me to watch without becoming a mess in the first 10 minutes! On the plus side it's very relatable movie...

HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME!!! Most underrated Disney movie ever
It's so funny to me that Tink became on par with Mickey as being a mascot for the company, when in the movie she is a sociopath and attempted murderer. I can't think of another Disney character who was presented as being part of the good side who was so blatantly evil as Tink. And now she begins every Disney movie, and flies over the parks every night. Fascinating.

I love this down to Disness videos! I recently went into London and found the Peter Pan statue that has been there since 1912 and was in the Peter Pan adaptation "Hook" :) My favourite Disney film of all time is Lilo and Stitch, I'd love to see a video about the the fluffy, blue alien who's taken over so many Disney fan hearts!
Peter Pan was used to have a much darker tone in its design stylistically. It was done by concept artist David Hall, who also did Alice in Wonderland concepts in 1940s. Thankfully Mary Blair's style elevates the movie to a much brighter, vivid world to be in.

Awesome vid! I feel like Peter Pan is the most timeless of the old Disney movies, which is why it endures so well.
Bit of an odd request: do Oliver and Company. I always loved the movie, and I'm fascinated by it because it was a trial run for the Disney Renaissance but often gets forgotten.

3:12 I thought Bambi was originally supposed to be the film to come out after SW. Whatever the case, Pinocchio ended up being the one to come out 2nd. But among the books behind Jiminy Cricket are hints that Walt intended to work next on Alice in Wonderland & Peter Pan, & yes, WWII (& the financial problems that brought) did force him to wait a decade on those.

I'd like to see a Down to Disness video about Pete's Dragon, I know you love it and I feel like there are SO many people out there who don't know of its awesomeness and the rumours of a remake are bumming me out. If not that one then maybe Escape to Witch Mountain or The Watcher in the Woods. These live action movies were my childhood! (And they also scared the crap out of me lol)
There is a Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens in England. When I was there I went to the garden specifically to see the statue, but I couldn't find him. I was told he was VERY small, so I may have walked right by him without knowing it. But you should totally try and find him if you ever go to London. and if you do take a picture with him so I can see it. LOL

Sad thing about Bobby Driscoll. He was dropped by Disney once puberty hit him and failed to get his career back to where it was. He was eventually found dead by a group of teens playing in an abandoned location. His body was only claimed after his mother contacted Disney in order for them to help her locate him. He was buried in a pauper's grave and his death was from a heroin overdose.
I'd love to see you talk about Hunchback. I've done done a lot of my own research on it but you always seem to know one or two really obscure facts. I also really love the tinker bell movies. The never beast and the secret of the wings ones are my favourite. Xx
Did you know that Peter's voice actor Bobby had pretty much a tragic life after this film. He was let go from Disney because of his acne as he was going through puberty and was given a bad reputation as a "bully" so he didnt get any jobs through the industry for those reasons. And later on as an adult he became a narcotic and eventually died of a heart attack due to drug consumption. Crazy huh 👀

Awesome video and great series idea! I consider Peter Pan one of my favorites, but there was tons of facts I didn't know, like the reference models.
Also, I demand a "Nana in Neverland" spin-off like, right now.
When my school did peter pan as that year's musical, we had a male actor as peter pan who just mouthed a female voice over. The school wanted the classical "high pitched" peter pan voice and the male appearance from the animated movie.
I truly believe that it’s OK to be a kid at heart all the time no matter how old you are, you’re never too old to be a kid again. It’s OK to be childlike, nobody these days is creative and imaginative anymore and that’s very sad that’s how it seems anyway. Not many people are resourceful these days.

Peter Pan is definitely one of my favorite movies and coincidentally one of my favorite songs by my favorite band has many references to Peter Pan (Antarctica by Hands Like Houses)
