gameranx my friend recently got banned from online on xbox one for no reason. The only thing he could think of that he did was team up with a level 8000 in gta v to kill level 300. It was only for a day and they never told him exactly what he did but still stupid.

I actually was involved with a Twitter tirade about a friend of mine being banned on WoW for auction house botting. Turns out the person who reported her was mad that she was not able to sell her stuff in the auction house and blamed it on my friend who was undercutting her.
Yeah I've had a few unfair bans from this. They all got resolved though and GMs now ban those who try to report people for using the AH for its purpose.
Being afk sadly enough is a reason to get banned from multiplayer on halo 5 pretty sure 343 did post about that in the rules for banning on waypoint at some point. I remember thinking that was stupid like common if you end up ago it's more likely for something important. I got kicked from a game because I had to go answer the door I rushed back as soon as I finished and apparently I was standing still for a full min and got kicked. Gladly this was on a different game. Black ops 4 if you must know. I get that being afk is just wasting not only your teams potential by like 10% but your also wasting time that some other player could of had in that same game if they were in your place. Also partly the reason why alot of people get irritated for ending up in a losing game as soon as they load in.
never got gloabal banned, but several times by the admin of an public server in CS "because cheating" LOL but that's loooong time ago....like 15 years (CS1.5)
I remember back when I was playing TF2 there was a server i went to quite a bit and so some of the people knew me and one day I was on a roll as the Sniper to the point this one kid switched to scout to try and flank me and I was landing shots in him left and right and sniped him out of mid air a few times and he started raging and calling me a hacker and saying hes recording all of this to send to valve blah blah blah. The people who knew me stood up for me saying I'm just a good sniper but this kid wouldnt have it and was convinced I was a hacker. So eventually the entire server got sick of him and reported him including some of his teammates and then on of the mods of the server just straight up banned him from the server for like a week. Week later the kid was back and immediately started bitching and complaining and still calling me a hacker. He then just got banned for life by the owner of the server. It was pretty hilarious from my point of view.

Going back to the “getting banned for being good” one, my friend was a god at PUBG Mobile and his main and alt account got banned for “hacking”. I know he had straight up god tier aim with the sniper but jeez he wasn’t hacking lol
I was just banned this month because the microsoft store went down and i tried to make a purchase, and it didnt go through until 2 hours later, a few dozen times. Then they refused me a refund, and we had to go to the bank to refund the $500 microsoft cost us. This was back in June. They banned me this month for "defrauding microsoft" even tho they literally stole from me. Edit: after just getting notified for this comment, i realize there might be confusion for those who are (somehow) just seeing this for the first time. As stated in the comment, the incident happened in June, and the ban happened in September, several months later. I didnt specify September in the original comment, leaving it as “this month” because i didnt expect anyone to reply to it back then, let alone over a year later, yet here we are!

I got banned from Guild Wars 2 for using my own credit card on their in-game store.. After confirming with bank card, passport and drivers license, they told me I stole the identity from the owner of the account and they never replied again.. My Guild Wars 2 account was linked with my Guild Wars account with over 10.000 total played. That's the thanks you get for being loyal to a game.
I have been banned from World of Tanks (1 day) for "team killing" just because some dude rammed me and lost some hp and 5 minutes later half of mine team reported me for team killing and thats how I got banned
I've been killed by two team members in WOT but team killing other players by yourself is quite hard to do and yes I have tries this because I though it would be funny but it was not it almost impossible
I was banned once on League of Legend accused of using scripts to cheat on it. The account was banned for a couple weeks before Riot Games sent me an email telling me that they had an issue with their anti-cheat program and a whole bunch of people got banned for no reason. The worst part was before they found this glitch in their system, I emailed Riot about my predicament and they consistently told me that I was indeed a hacker and to have a good day. They only sent an apology for their mistake with no compensation.. Really Riot Games?
I had a similar thing happen. I got accused of hacking league by apparently re-coding my client to allow shen to have teemo's passive. A 5 man premade was mad I shen ulted away from a 4 man jump on me and said " I magically turned "invisible" as they tried to kill me, My account was perma banned. I still to this day 5 years later still can not believe I was banned for them not knowing a) shens ult allows me to teleport b) they cant see me if they have no vision of where I am teleporting too c) riot actually believing someone recoded the way their game works on a live server
Not surprised , riot just does not care, they have the worst system ever. you can mute people and yet you end up getting banned for talking? imagine people getting banned for the same reason in games like pubg or cod.. thats just fucking stupid.
At least unlike with pubg you can't be banned for "stream sniping" someone. Seen a LOT of people complain that stream sniping is a "real problem" and that its not the fault of the streamers, but of the players in the game. Meanwhile people get banned for playing the game because some streamer screams about getting sniped from a mile off.
Yeah a lot of people don’t understand a sniper in real life your not supposed to go straight up do trickshots and all that snipers are supposed to be sit there camp pick them off one by one go play a sniper campaign game or look up what a sniper is supposed to be for but I still do trickshot and quick scopes so eh
Okay, story time: about a year ago I would play asphalt 8 on my phone all the time, I would complete every event to get the special cars and try my hand in online tournaments to win cars. One time during a tournament race I had come in 2nd and decided, “let’s do an offline race to try and improve my skills”. I get the offline race set up (classic, s-rank, sector 8) and I had noticed that a new s-rank car had shown up in my garage, I thought it might’ve been a reward from doing the tournament so I decided to use it, it wasn’t anything to write home about it was a lambourghini (it had some letters and digits after the initial “lambourghini” tag mark) and about halfway into the race I had been banned for “tampering with game files and adding blacklisted cars”. About a month after the ban, my account was allowed again, at the cost of all dat being wiped, this was about 2 years of playing, so yeah, that sucked
I wasn't banned for it, and I actually thanked the guy who did it, but in the early days of GTA online for xbox 360, me and a few friends were playing around at the airport. Suddenly, we noticed that our accounts were being given millions of dollars every second. Someone who was on our public lobby had decided to give everyone as much money as he could hand out before he was caught. RockStar did eventually take the money away, but by then we had done everything we wanted to do with it.
Exact same situation happened to me... only difference is right before that happened I had bought a shark card so when the money was taken away... so did the money I paid for :/
I used to do this on ps3 as well. Dunno if some people got banned, I met a few later again and they weren't banned or punished in any way. Every year on xmas I was at the LSC right at the center of LS, invisible and dropping money on every player thats nearby. Leaving my console running for the xmas time (3 days), so people can buy things for themself ingame :) Those were the most peaceful GTA sessions ever. I usually looked every few hours if I was still ingame and people just stood there, talking about their life etc. Very cool experience!
I got a soft ban in Dark Souls 3 for simply playing offline for about an hour... In the Ringed City DLC, there's a boss named "Spear of the Church." If you're playing online, a player is summoned to act as the boss. If you are offline (or if somehow, no players are available), an NPC named "Halflight, Spear of the Church" is summoned instead. I went offline to do this fight against Halflight instead of a player to see what it was like. When I went back to online mode afterward, I got the "[CAUTION] YOU HAVE BEEN PENALIZED" message. Six months later, and it's still not unbanned...

I had my wow account hacked back in 2008, I didn't even know until my friends sent me texts asking me why I wouldn't reply to their whispers lol. I called Blizzard gave them my info and managed to recover the account. 1 week later the account was banned for botting lmao. I tried to get a hold of them and tell them I had just recovered this account and they basically told me "aww poor you"

Commissar Gamza I had my WoT account hacked and I called customer service and they gave me a T-35 Dracula tank which was 2 years ago Halloween special for compensation. Apparently the hacker had been using my account to transfer my tanks to his account. I got all his duplicate tanks that had been hacked out of other accounts and also received the Dracula. Mobile game developers are so good.
I had op once when I joined I removed to help the mods, If I had known this I would have unbanned you guys,the mods can't ban me now since my op is gone but like the server owner I can't be banned
@@kceflef Well that has to do with how calculation works on Minecraft servers to prevent flying, as its not part of Watchdog, its a part of every server out there that has flying disabled. To prevent flying, the game detects how long you are in the air without falling and will kick you if floating in the air for too long. The thing is sometimes high ping and packet loss can cause a similar floating effect as a fly cheat, so sometimes it kicks you.
I still remember the story of a gamer with the name 'Heretic Marki' who was playing Fortnite and was beaten by an opponent. But due to an error in the game, his character did not die and he could continue playing. And that was seen as cheating. While he didn't even cheat but because it was an error of the game, he was penalized for cheating.
@@Leongon Using exploits isn't technically cheating because you're not _installing and using third-party software that isn't part of the game to have an unfair advantage, you're just using a bug or glitch which is unfair, but it's not third-party software, it's the result of the game containing unwanted behaviors that either the devs forgot to fix beforehand, or couldn't fix at the time. Most, if not all, the time, cheating involves assistance from something _outside of a game, 99% of the time being third-party software_ . It doesn't involve bugs or glitches in the game. I can use an invisibility glitch in Fortnite (if one even exists) and still technically win fair and square because I'm not obligated to report anything and it's something within the game files affecting certain behaviors, so I wouldn't be cheating. If I was using third-party software to gain an unfair advantage, then I would be cheating because in the TOS, you're not allowed to use third-party software to gain an unfair advantage (it doesn't say that, but I know somewhere in there,, using third-party software that has to do with cheating and such is not allowed whatsoever). Also, you cannot prove someone's intent to use bugs and glitches for unfair advantages, so therefore, using bugs and glitches isn't cheating.
The last one sounds exactly like what just happened to Ninja. Someone killed him in game and he said they were stream snipping (they obviously weren't) and he went off saying he will get him banned. Pfft.
Yeah I stopped watching Ninja after seeing something similar one day. Someone clipped through a wall he was building and killed him and he had a temper tantrum and immediately reported the guy for stream sniping just because he was triggered.

you may not like TF2 but don't go into MvM you will get kicked if someone doesn't like the class you pick but in general game that's fine for some reason but please don't go hating on me for liking TF2 though if you don't like the game
The last one is getting more wide stream because of Twitch Streamer Ninja. He accuses anyone who beats him of stream snipping and has gotten legit players banned. Twitch and Epic Games have had to issue apologies to a lot of players wrongly banned because of his whiney ass

Late to the party, but yeah I've been banned for something stupid. Me and my whole team were banned from Smite for beating one of the moderators, and 'humiliating' them by spawn camping their team. They claimed we harrassed them; We had stream/video proof we didn't say boo to them, and we all don't play Smite anymore because of it. Not sure that's the 'stupid ' you're looking for, but there it is.
On WWE 2K17 I actually got banned for a week because I used a Pepe the Frog logo offline. When I contacted customer support about it they said that Pepe was a symbol of hate speech and broke the terms of service.

Back in '07, I was in Runescape telling people NOT to say their passwords out loud. Back then it was common for scammers to say "Look, Jagex blocks your password! ********", luring people into typing their account passwords in the general chat, and I was warning everyone about it. I was banned for scamming.
They had a weird system where they'd side with the accuser in almost every case. I once traded with someone and they accidentally paid me too much or more than they intended to because I didn't have all the items they wanted (only some of them). I told them this before the trade started and it was clearly recorded in the chat log which came with the ban. They accused me of removing items in the trade, reported me, and I got banned with my appeal denied, all because they weren't paying any attention to the chat log or the trade screen. I had just assumed they were being overly generous.
Once I played on a minecraft server and some higher ranked smartass guy teleported to my house. He was invisible but i saw him because i had beacons on my plot wich gave effects to players. Therefore I saw his particles. I asked him what he wants and he reported me for having hacks wich allowed me to see invisible entities. I didnt get banned but it was still stupid.
I've been banned from a game for not wanting to play it anymore. The game was the MMO "Scarlet Blade", yes the one with all the boobies. I used to play with a friend, but eventually just got bored with it, since the gameplay was pretty dull once you got over the "aesthetics." So I stopped playing it, and like many games, it started sending me emails trying to get me to come back to it. I ignored them, since yeah, I still found it boring, and they had made no effort at the time to fix it. A few months later, they stopped. Well, a couple years later, I heard the game had made some updates, so I decided to pick it back up and check it out. I tried to log in, only to get the message that my account had been banned! I thought that was pretty messed up, worried that someone had hacked my account and used it for themselves, but found that wasn't the case. I checked the games TOS, and discovered there's actually a clause in the contract that says not responding to those recruitment emails (i.e. not touching the game at all) for over six months is enough to permanently ban your account. I could have created a new one, but part of the reason I wanted to play was on the off-chance of reconnecting with my friend. So I just shrugged it off and laughed. Later I heard the game shut down. Can't imagine why.

I got banned on halo 3, I jumped into a game I was invited to by a random dude. We played a few games in a private lobby with his group. During the game I noticed everyone just stopped in place the screen glitches and went back to normal game play. This is when I noticed we all had the limited armor and the flaming bungie helmets. I left the lobby went to public multiplayer game and I was asked by everyone in chat how I got a bungie team helmet when I don’t work for them. I said I have no clue I explained what went down next thing I know I got redirected back to the main screen and couldn’t get back on. Ended getting a 2 yr ban from the game found out via mail. After that I sold my Xbox and moved on to PlayStation.
Ahh yes, the good old spawn defender moves are a definite no no. The worse the spawn killer, the harder the legendary, noble, defender falls. I myself have been removed from SW BF2 servers after chasing off and killing those little bastards who were orbiting my team's spawn point in Starfighter Assault.
I was banned for 4 days because I was shooting lots of enemies with mortars and actually helping a lot. Some kid got really jealous and started stealing the shells after he stole about 50 shells I followed him to see where he was taking them and turns out he was giving them to the enemies. I told everyone in chat. Turns out this kid was with his steam group and it had like 15 people so they all vote kicked me “exploiting” I talked to a foxhole admin and was unnamed in like 5 minutes. He also got banned for 2 months for cheating and kick evasion. Sweet sweet revenge.
Not banned per se, but someone from China emailed NCSoft support claiming to be me, then got my GW2 account. I then got an email detailing suspicious activity from China for them logging into it. I took that email, forwarded it onto NCSoft via a support ticket, and was told that they couldn't verify it was me because I couldn't solve the security questions the person from China put on the account. I provided a credit card statement, receipt, ID, a picture of me with the game, and the serial number, but they still wouldn't give me access back.
I've had multiple GW2 accounts which had that happen. The first after talking to Arenanet and NCSoft I just said fuck it and brought another account however when the second happened I called them and within 2 seconds no questions asked I had my account back and I simply told the man "No wonder they got my account in the first place the fuck are you doing? At least ask me some questions or put some effort into this..." They are either completely hard core about account security or as lazy as giving account info for free depending on who you talk too.
avfusion It happened the same think to me with Facebook and Gmail. Someone stoled my accounts and put pornhub vids on my Facebook account (I am not ussing Facebook more than 10 minutes/month so whatever) and deleted all my emails and most of them where important stuff.

One time in a battlefield 3. I was driving a T-90 in operation fire storm, being board like I was I fired randomly into the air, by sheer chance I hit a fighter jet and just obliterated it. 5 minutes later I got a permanent ban from the server, good times.
Got banned from GTA V. First got a 7-day ban for unknowingly driving a hackers vehicle, then a hacker dropped money on me while I was standing in my garage ingame, but IRL were away to take care of a personal matters (bathroom-related) ... perm-banned!!! Tried writing, begging, pleading ... Nope! My 200+ level account were lost.. Got a new account. And luckily(??) I got a 250K bonus from Rockstar on top of the 500K you start with. "Nice" I thought, "I can just exactly buy a flat and an office right away". So I did. Banned 30 days on the spot. Finally got hold of Rockstar supporter and explained the situation. Their auto-banhammer strikes people that own too much in relation to your level (which at the time were 1). Apparently even if it was bought with money Rockstar provided itself ... and there were nothing they could do about it! Had to wait 30 days to play again .. and my account were stripped. No office, no apartment, no car, just the 500K you start the game with .. the bonus period were over so I didn't even get the 250K. Rockstar; your anti-cheat and auto-ban systems are SO bad that I, on a scale of 0-10, will rate it: Potato!!!

I consider that unfair. So long as you aren't altering the game, you should be allowed to use whatever you want to defeat your opponent. (One reason i was pissed when Bungie changed the color of the Broadsword shader in Destiny. I don't want you to see me.)
someone from enemy team once yelled that I'm a cheater and he and his friends will report me because I did quadra in a teamfight (last kill was too late for penta). those were the good old days where you could stack bloodthirsters and then 1v5 surprise nuke enemy team with Talon. also other time someone yelled at me for stream sniping because I killed him with random ash arrow when he was in the jungle... I aimed from bot to top lane to snipe someone hitting tower and accidentaly hit him :P
Yeaaah, Talon wasn't ever that strong, just saying. i can understand being able to kill anyone on the team due to burst, but he didn't get ability cd resets like Kat or Yi. lol Beyond that, yeah passive buffs from items weren't extremely commonplace like they are now, to avoid cheesing... well more cheesing than there is today which isn't too much.
Snow Day Gnar yes, he doesnt have any resets so yeah, you jump in, nuke and get the F out or die, depending where you jump. but Talon WAS strong and good at killing people and destroying turrets with his Q. hell, I loved playing him on old Twisted Treeline. so basically boots+IE+LW+loads of BTs gave you more than enough nuke when you played good, were fed and had more gold than enemies
I've been banned for nothing. Literally, nothing. I was given a ban notice, and for cause, there was an empty field. The only way to top that, is getting banned from something you've never been a part of.
I got overwatched on CSGO for hitting an extremely lucky shot. I jumped down from aps to underpass on Mirage, and got a deagle headshot, then I misfired and hit a guy in snipers nest. I got permanently banned...
I got banned from Xbox live because I was playing rainbow and “stole” a kids kill, so he teamkilled me. Knowing you get banned for swearing I sent him a message saying “wow you’re a baby”. Banned for 2 weeks
It's why If someone teamkills me, the next round I shoot them a couple of times so they will do it again and get banned. I won't kill them and it's only if it was on purpose then I will do it.
I would bet there are a ton of people, like me, who were banned on early Minecraft servers for accidently breaking glass in someone's underground player base while mining.
Got banned from a minecraft server for breaking a tree to get wood. Apparantly i was "griefing" their server but i just wanted some basic resourses. I placed the wood back and left, but when i rejoined 2 years later it says i got banned for breaking a tree and then when confronted the player left even tho i placed the log back. I also got banned from microsoft for leaving my account inactive for a year. I made another account and got banned again. I then made ANOTHER account only to see the ban everytime. I just did what it says and got unbanned.
Back in my WoW days, my friend and I got a 48 hour ban for being "verbally abusive" towards other players. The thing is, I was a solo player that only talked in chat when I needed to while in a group and was never rude to anyone. The ban came about after a raid I was in with a friend who was the leader. I was playing a class and spec that everyone at the time said was garbage though I enjoyed playing it anyways. The majority of the raid kept telling me to leave the group because I would be the cause of failing boss fights. We were at the first boss by this point and after my friend told them he was not going to kick me, everyone went straight rage mode. He said fuck it and immediately kicked everyone out of the raid. This was during the early days of wow when you had to run to the raid/dungeon and use summon stones to get people there. So after spending an hour or more just getting to the raid and the time spent getting to the first boss, everyone that got kicked was left in southern Silithus with nothing to show for their time spent. Apparently those people decided to report my friend and I because of this. We didn't care to much about the ban since it was only 48 hours but we did share the story on a forum which got the attention of a wow employee. They apologized for the incident but because the ban had already ended there was nothing that could be done.

I actually was involved with a Twitter tirade about a friend of mine being banned on WoW for auction house botting. Turns out the person who reported her was mad that she was not able to sell her stuff in the auction house and blamed it on my friend who was undercutting her.
Yeah I've had a few unfair bans from this. They all got resolved though and GMs now ban those who try to report people for using the AH for its purpose.

I remember back when I was playing TF2 there was a server i went to quite a bit and so some of the people knew me and one day I was on a roll as the Sniper to the point this one kid switched to scout to try and flank me and I was landing shots in him left and right and sniped him out of mid air a few times and he started raging and calling me a hacker and saying hes recording all of this to send to valve blah blah blah. The people who knew me stood up for me saying I'm just a good sniper but this kid wouldnt have it and was convinced I was a hacker. So eventually the entire server got sick of him and reported him including some of his teammates and then on of the mods of the server just straight up banned him from the server for like a week. Week later the kid was back and immediately started bitching and complaining and still calling me a hacker. He then just got banned for life by the owner of the server. It was pretty hilarious from my point of view.

I was just banned this month because the microsoft store went down and i tried to make a purchase, and it didnt go through until 2 hours later, a few dozen times. Then they refused me a refund, and we had to go to the bank to refund the $500 microsoft cost us. This was back in June. They banned me this month for "defrauding microsoft" even tho they literally stole from me.
Edit: after just getting notified for this comment, i realize there might be confusion for those who are (somehow) just seeing this for the first time. As stated in the comment, the incident happened in June, and the ban happened in September, several months later. The account was banned for a couple weeks before Riot Games sent me an email telling me that they had an issue with their anti-cheat program and a whole bunch of people got banned for no reason. The worst part was before they found this glitch in their system, I emailed Riot about my predicament and they consistently told me that I was indeed a hacker and to have a good day. They only sent an apology for their mistake with no compensation.. Really Riot Games?
I had a similar thing happen. I got accused of hacking league by apparently re-coding my client to allow shen to have teemo's passive. A 5 man premade was mad I shen ulted away from a 4 man jump on me and said " I magically turned "invisible" as they tried to kill me, My account was perma banned. I still to this day 5 years later still can not believe I was banned for them not knowing a) shens ult allows me to teleport b) they cant see me if they have no vision of where I am teleporting too c) riot actually believing someone recoded the way their game works on a live server

At least unlike with pubg you can't be banned for "stream sniping" someone. Okay, story time: about a year ago I would play asphalt 8 on my phone all the time, I would complete every event to get the special cars and try my hand in online tournaments to win cars. One time during a tournament race I had come in 2nd and decided, “let’s do an offline race to try and improve my skills”. I get the offline race set up (classic, s-rank, sector 8) and I had noticed that a new s-rank car had shown up in my garage, I thought it might’ve been a reward from doing the tournament so I decided to use it, it wasn’t anything to write home about it was a lambourghini (it had some letters and digits after the initial “lambourghini” tag mark) and about halfway into the race I had been banned for “tampering with game files and adding blacklisted cars”. About a month after the ban, my account was allowed again, at the cost of all dat being wiped, this was about 2 years of playing, so yeah, that sucked
I wasn't banned for it, and I actually thanked the guy who did it, but in the early days of GTA online for xbox 360, me and a few friends were playing around at the airport. Suddenly, we noticed that our accounts were being given millions of dollars every second. Someone who was on our public lobby had decided to give everyone as much money as he could hand out before he was caught. RockStar did eventually take the money away, but by then we had done everything we wanted to do with it.
Exact same situation happened to me... only difference is right before that happened I had bought a shark card so when the money was taken away... so did the money I paid for :/

I used to do this on ps3 as well. Dunno if some people got banned, I met a few later again and they weren't banned or punished in any way. Every year on xmas I was at the LSC right at the center of LS, invisible and dropping money on every player thats nearby. Leaving my console running for the xmas time (3 days), so people can buy things for themself ingame :)
Those were the most peaceful GTA sessions ever. I usually looked every few hours if I was still ingame and people just stood there, talking about their life etc. Very cool experience!
I got a soft ban in Dark Souls 3 for simply playing offline for about an hour... In the Ringed City DLC, there's a boss named "Spear of the Church." If you're playing online, a player is summoned to act as the boss. If you are offline (or if somehow, no players are available), an NPC named "Halflight, Spear of the Church" is summoned instead. I went offline to do this fight against Halflight instead of a player to see what it was like. When I went back to online mode afterward, I got the "[CAUTION] YOU HAVE BEEN PENALIZED" message. Six months later, and it's still not unbanned...

Apparently the hacker had been using my account to transfer my tanks to his account. I got all his duplicate tanks that had been hacked out of other accounts and also received the Dracula. @@kceflef Well that has to do with how calculation works on Minecraft servers to prevent flying, as its not part of Watchdog, its a part of every server out there that has flying disabled. To prevent flying, the game detects how long you are in the air without falling and will kick you if floating in the air for too long. The thing is sometimes high ping and packet loss can cause a similar floating effect as a fly cheat, so sometimes it kicks you.
I still remember the story of a gamer with the name 'Heretic Marki' who was playing Fortnite and was beaten by an opponent. But due to an error in the game, his character did not die and he could continue playing. And that was seen as cheating. While he didn't even cheat but because it was an error of the game, he was penalized for cheating.
And how do you know it was just a bug?
Using exploits is cheating. When you encounter one you report it and remove yourself from the match.

Most, if not all, the time, cheating involves assistance from something _outside of a game, 99% of the time being third-party software_ . It doesn't involve bugs or glitches in the game. I can use an invisibility glitch in Fortnite (if one even exists) and still technically win fair and square because I'm not obligated to report anything and it's something within the game files affecting certain behaviors, so I wouldn't be cheating. If I was using third-party software to gain an unfair advantage, then I would be cheating because in the TOS, you're not allowed to use third-party software to gain an unfair advantage (it doesn't say that, but I know somewhere in there,, using third-party software that has to do with cheating and such is not allowed whatsoever). Also, you cannot prove someone's intent to use bugs and glitches for unfair advantages, so therefore, using bugs and glitches isn't cheating.
The last one sounds exactly like what just happened to Ninja. Someone killed him in game and he said they were stream snipping (they obviously weren't) and he went off saying he will get him banned. Pfft.

Back in '07, I was in Runescape telling people NOT to say their passwords out loud. Back then it was common for scammers to say "Look, Jagex blocks your password! ********", luring people into typing their account passwords in the general chat, and I was warning everyone about it.
I was banned for scamming.
They had a weird system where they'd side with the accuser in almost every case. I once traded with someone and they accidentally paid me too much or more than they intended to because I didn't have all the items they wanted (only some of them). I told them this before the trade started and it was clearly recorded in the chat log which came with the ban. They accused me of removing items in the trade, reported me, and I got banned with my appeal denied, all because they weren't paying any attention to the chat log or the trade screen. I had just assumed they were being overly generous.
If people are stupid enough to write their own password, let them lose their accounts.

Once I played on a minecraft server and some higher ranked smartass guy teleported to my house. He was invisible but i saw him because i had beacons on my plot wich gave effects to players. Therefore I saw his particles. I asked him what he wants and he reported me for having hacks wich allowed me to see invisible entities. I didnt get banned but it was still stupid.

I've been banned from a game for not wanting to play it anymore.
The game was the MMO "Scarlet Blade", yes the one with all the boobies. I used to play with a friend, but eventually just got bored with it, since the gameplay was pretty dull once you got over the "aesthetics." So I stopped playing it, and like many games, it started sending me emails trying to get me to come back to it. I ignored them, since yeah, I still found it boring, and they had made no effort at the time to fix it. A few months later, they stopped.
Well, a couple years later, I heard the game had made some updates, so I decided to pick it back up and check it out. I tried to log in, only to get the message that my account had been banned! I thought that was pretty messed up, worried that someone had hacked my account and used it for themselves, but found that wasn't the case. I checked the games TOS, and discovered there's actually a clause in the contract that says not responding to those recruitment emails (i.e. not touching the game at all) for over six months is enough to permanently ban your account. I could have created a new one, but part of the reason I wanted to play was on the off-chance of reconnecting with my friend. So I just shrugged it off and laughed.
Later I heard the game shut down. Can't imagine why.

I got banned on halo 3, I jumped into a game I was invited to by a random dude. We played a few games in a private lobby with his group. During the game I noticed everyone just stopped in place the screen glitches and went back to normal game play. This is when I noticed we all had the limited armor and the flaming bungie helmets. I left the lobby went to public multiplayer game and I was asked by everyone in chat how I got a bungie team helmet when I don’t work for them. I said I have no clue I explained what went down next thing I know I got redirected back to the main screen and couldn’t get back on. Ended getting a 2 yr ban from the game found out via mail. After that I sold my Xbox and moved on to PlayStation.

Ahh yes, the good old spawn defender moves are a definite no no. The worse the spawn killer, the harder the legendary, noble, defender falls. I myself have been removed from SW BF2 servers after chasing off and killing those little bastards who were orbiting my team's spawn point in Starfighter Assault.

I was banned for 4 days because I was shooting lots of enemies with mortars and actually helping a lot. Some kid got really jealous and started stealing the shells after he stole about 50 shells I followed him to see where he was taking them and turns out he was giving them to the enemies. I told everyone in chat. Turns out this kid was with his steam group and it had like 15 people so they all vote kicked me “exploiting” I talked to a foxhole admin and was unnamed in like 5 minutes. He also got banned for 2 months for cheating and kick evasion. Sweet sweet revenge.

Not banned per se, but someone from China emailed NCSoft support claiming to be me, then got my GW2 account. I then got an email detailing suspicious activity from China for them logging into it. I took that email, forwarded it onto NCSoft via a support ticket, and was told that they couldn't verify it was me because I couldn't solve the security questions the person from China put on the account. I provided a credit card statement, receipt, ID, a picture of me with the game, and the serial number, but they still wouldn't give me access back.

I've had multiple GW2 accounts which had that happen. The first after talking to Arenanet and NCSoft I just said fuck it and brought another account however when the second happened I called them and within 2 seconds no questions asked I had my account back and I simply told the man "No wonder they got my account in the first place the fuck are you doing? At least ask me some questions or put some effort into this..." They are either completely hard core about account security or as lazy as giving account info for free depending on who you talk too.
avfusion It happened the same think to me with Facebook and Gmail. Someone stoled my accounts and put pornhub vids on my Facebook account (I am not ussing Facebook more than 10 minutes/month so whatever) and deleted all my emails and most of them where important stuff.

First got a 7-day ban for unknowingly driving a hackers vehicle, then a hacker dropped money on me while I was standing in my garage ingame, but IRL were away to take care of a personal matters (bathroom-related) ... perm-banned!!! Tried writing, begging, pleading ... Nope! My 200+ level account were lost.. Got a new account. And luckily(??) I got a 250K bonus from Rockstar on top of the 500K you start with. "Nice" I thought, "I can just exactly buy a flat and an office right away". So I did. Banned 30 days on the spot. Finally got hold of Rockstar supporter and explained the situation. Their auto-banhammer strikes people that own too much in relation to your level (which at the time were 1). Apparently even if it was bought with money Rockstar provided itself ... and there were nothing they could do about it! Had to wait 30 days to play again .. and my account were stripped. No office, no apartment, no car, just the 500K you start the game with .. the bonus period were over so I didn't even get the 250K. Rockstar; your anti-cheat and auto-ban systems are SO bad that I, on a scale of 0-10, will rate it: Potato!!!

someone from enemy team once yelled that I'm a cheater and he and his friends will report me because I did quadra in a teamfight (last kill was too late for penta). those were the good old days where you could stack bloodthirsters and then 1v5 surprise nuke enemy team with Talon. also other time someone yelled at me for stream sniping because I killed him with random ash arrow when he was in the jungle... I aimed from bot to top lane to snipe someone hitting tower and accidentaly hit him :P
Yeaaah, Talon wasn't ever that strong, just saying. i can understand being able to kill anyone on the team due to burst, but he didn't get ability cd resets like Kat or Yi. lol Beyond that, yeah passive buffs from items weren't extremely commonplace like they are now, to avoid cheesing... well more cheesing than there is today which isn't too much.
Snow Day Gnar yes, he doesnt have any resets so yeah, you jump in, nuke and get the F out or die, depending where you jump. but Talon WAS strong and good at killing people and destroying turrets with his Q. hell, I loved playing him on old Twisted Treeline. so basically boots+IE+LW+loads of BTs gave you more than enough nuke when you played good, were fed and had more gold than enemies

Got banned from a minecraft server for breaking a tree to get wood. Apparantly i was "griefing" their server but i just wanted some basic resourses. I placed the wood back and left, but when i rejoined 2 years later it says i got banned for breaking a tree and then when confronted the player left even tho i placed the log back.
I also got banned from microsoft for leaving my account inactive for a year. I made another account and got banned again. I then made ANOTHER account only to see the ban everytime. I just did what it says and got unbanned.

Back in my WoW days, my friend and I got a 48 hour ban for being "verbally abusive" towards other players. The thing is, I was a solo player that only talked in chat when I needed to while in a group and was never rude to anyone. The ban came about after a raid I was in with a friend who was the leader. I was playing a class and spec that everyone at the time said was garbage though I enjoyed playing it anyways. The majority of the raid kept telling me to leave the group because I would be the cause of failing boss fights. We were at the first boss by this point and after my friend told them he was not going to kick me, everyone went straight rage mode. He said fuck it and immediately kicked everyone out of the raid. This was during the early days of wow when you had to run to the raid/dungeon and use summon stones to get people there. So after spending an hour or more just getting to the raid and the time spent getting to the first boss, everyone that got kicked was left in southern Silithus with nothing to show for their time spent. Apparently those people decided to report my friend and I because of this. We didn't care to much about the ban since it was only 48 hours but we did share the story on a forum which got the attention of a wow employee. They apologized for the incident but because the ban had already ended there was nothing that could be done.
