I’ve been thinking hard about the direction of my TH-cam channel. I recently got back into TH-cam and I’ve just enjoyed filming again. I kinda have a style but I am someone with a lot of interests but I quickly saw what viewers like. I didn’t/don’t want to be boxed in as a storyteller. But watching this video made me realise that I could use the “niche,” which is reading to inform my other videos. Such as “what I learnt from reading ______” whether it’s a novel or self-help book. Thank you for the inspiration to explore more on TH-cam.
I’m right there with you. I have way too many interests and I have struggled for the longest on what content to make. I’m just going to go for it and try not to box myself in one particular niche this year. Although, I will say, most of my content may have sort of an entrepreneurial/self help theme.
This was by far the best breakdown of how TH-camrs actually are different and succeed on TH-cam. The info was actually different than the thousands of videos that tell you to find a niche and make a good video.
Thank you dear, watched your video in my other channel and just saw your video in my new account and just clicked play. "I really don't want to miss out on any gig"
Fantastic presentation! I was just contemplating my channel niche and how to grow with such a focused audience and this video provided some great insight! I have greater confidence in what I can provide for my audience in just being me and what I can teach and how I can inspire.
This make so much sense. My channel is about injuries in dogs- but the videos that do well are about one type of injury. I have been thinking for a while i should start another channel for other injuries to keep the momentum going. I feel like YT does not know what to do with my content when i post another video about a different injury…mind blowing!
You know I've been breaking my brain over packaging this concept for one of my videos and you just absolutely nailed it! Wouldn't be surprised if you stared a new trend (again) 🚀
I absolutely love watching your videos because i find them very helpful. I recently implemented one of your strategies in one of my videos, and that video is currently my most viewed long form video😊 Thank you so much for consistently providing value.
I practiced everything you've been teaching and I got monetized last year which was my main goal for my channel. Praise God! Now this year, I want to focus on growth and producing consistently good content.Thank you Aprilynne! I'm going to go back to my channel and study it to check for the misses!
As an old guy who doesn't know much about the ins and outs of TH-cam, this video is really helpful. Having watched Makari's channel this past year I've seen how much time and effort go into each video. So cool to see your references to her work. I'm a proud dad.
I’ve always had a hard time trying to find my niche but I just took the first step and talk about the first thing that came into my mind and that would be my stepping stone on what my niche would be 😊
You do not know who much this helped me. I was stuck on what to post as I like a lot of things, so I didn't know what my viewers wanted. After watching this video I figured out how I can do all the things I love, and yet tons of views and subscribers. Thank you for being you this is amazing!
This video is incredible - so well made, packed with information! Honestly I kind of realized the momentum thing just a couple days ago after making tons of vids and to see that validated in ur vid is super cool! Best of luck!! ;p
Again a great video, worth analyzing. Watch it once, analyze it during the second watch and improve my "Empty video script". Thank you Aprilynne for sharing this information with us!
Things the second video I’ve watched of yours and you make me feel like I can do this 💪 I definitely see where I can improve thanks for the easy to understand advice
Love all this advice!! As someone who is trying to grow their youtube channel this year and has so many passions, I find it difficult deciding whether to stick to one niche for video consistency or trying out everything since I’m still a small channel and seeing what sticks. I have faith that it will all work out though and with consistency and dedication I’ll attract the right community for me!❤❤
I definitely feel you! You can definitely try out a LOT when you're a small channel - but along the way, try to gradually figure out what you want your recipe to be. See what common threads people mention in the comments. And when a video starts to overperform, consider if that's the type of video you want to lean into long-term You got this!
@@AprilynneAlter Hey! I don't know if you'll see this, but I am having a really hard time deciding what to do with my channel. I want to switch over. I have made it mainly a music channel, but it isn't gaining the traction that I was hoping for, and I have so many other things I would rather do. I want to help people make their lives better (so a similar channel to Makari Espe). Do you have any good advice for what to do? I know you left your older channel behind (because you wanted to change niches), and in this video, you talk about how important it is to be able to roll over viewers from your last video. If I want to keep the channel I have already poured tons of time into, could I just make some transition videos? "this can't go on... why I am changing my approach to TH-cam" or "I tried vocal exercises for 30 days, and this is what happened". It would mean the world to me if you could help, but I am sure you have a ton of subscribers to think of! :) ♥
@@briannaclark5479 Hey Brianna! I feel you - honestly, big pivots are really, really hard to pull off. I tried a big pivot on a previous channel, and it just wasn't able to work You could try making transition videos, and see what happens But honestly, I'd just start with a new channel. On your existing channel, any of your current subscribers who aren't interested in your new content will hold your new content from taking off. And right now, TH-cam is actually pushing out new creators' videos a lot more, so your new channel will get a bit of a beginning boost If I were you, I'd make a new channel for your new content, and make a video on your existing channel about the transition, so if anyone wants to follow you on your new channel, they can do so! I know that might not be the type of answer you want to hear, but it's SO much easier to grow if you have an aligned audience, vs if your channel is split between an old audience and a new audience Hope that helps! 💙
@@AprilynneAlter Thanks, Aprilynne!! Yeah - as hard as it is to hear, I think that is wise. I have been doing a ton of research on it this last couple of weeks, and the only two things that make me doubt are social proof and the desire to have all my work in one place. You know I've been breaking my brain over packaging this concept for one of my videos and you just absolutely nailed it! Wouldn't be surprised if you stared a new trend (again) 🚀
Big fan of your thumbnails
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it :)
it is not only hard to find your true identity but to package it in the best way
Thank you so much for all you do for us. Every video has genuinely informative and unique strategy that is priceless, truly. Another amazing one here!
I absolutely love watching your videos because i find them very helpful. I recently implemented one of your strategies in one of my videos, and that video is currently my most viewed long form video😊 Thank you so much for consistently providing value.
AHHH CONGRATS!!! That makes me so happy to hear!! 🎉🎉
Love how you break these down!
Thank you James!! So glad you enjoyed the vid :)
More terrific insights. Thank you.
super great content!!!
I practiced everything you've been teaching and I got monetized last year which was my main goal for my channel. Praise God! Now this year, I want to focus on growth and producing consistently good content.Thank you Aprilynne! I'm going to go back to my channel and study it to check for the misses!
Ahhhh huge congrats on getting monetized!!! Keep crushing it 💪
This was great! I love how you explain concepts with visuals.
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it 💙
this was so good!!
Ahhh thank you so, so much!! 💙
As an old guy who doesn't know much about the ins and outs of TH-cam, this video is really helpful. Having watched Makari's channel this past year I've seen how much time and effort go into each video. So cool to see your references to her work. I'm a proud dad.
She's such a gift to the platform!! I absolutely adore the authenticity and energy she brings. Very much deserving of a proud dad moment 💙
Outstanding video! I'm so glad you chose this as a topic, I learned a lot from this. Thanks for your hard work!
Ahhh I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!! Thank you so much for watching 💙
I’ve always had a hard time trying to find my niche but I just took the first step and talk about the first thing that came into my mind and that would be my stepping stone on what my niche would be 😊
Incredible breakdown, analysis and editing! Thanks so much!
You're the best Aprilynne keep it upp
And when a video starts to overperform, consider if that's the type of video you want to lean into long-term
You got this!
Hi, I'm from Brazil and I want to thank you for the content, you're very good at what you do
Awesome video! It feels like the best one so far...
AHHH I can’t wait to watch this!! I have been looking for your opinion on niches and content!! 😊😄😄
Ahhhh yes I remember!!! I hope this video helps 💙
I tried a big pivot on a previous channel, and it just wasn't able to work
You could try making transition videos, and see what happens
But honestly, I'd just start with a new channel. On your existing channel, any of your current subscribers who aren't interested in your new content will hold your new content from taking off. And right now, TH-cam is actually pushing out new creators' videos a lot more, so your new channel will get a bit of a beginning boost
If I were you, I'd make a new channel for your new content, and make a video on your existing channel about the transition, so if anyone wants to follow you on your new channel, they can do so!
I know that might not be the type of answer you want to hear, but it's SO much easier to grow if you have an aligned audience, vs if your channel is split between an old audience and a new audience
Hope that helps! 💙
@@AprilynneAlter Thanks, Aprilynne!!
Yeah - as hard as it is to hear, I think that is wise.
I have been doing a ton of research on it this last couple of weeks, and the only two things that make me doubt are social proof and the desire to have all my work in one place. But I think I need to leave those behind.
Again, thank you so much Aprilynne! Definitely one of the wisest TH-camrs out there! ♥ :)
Another FANTASTIC video!!
I honestly feel like i have the same problem as Tejas!
Great video
This video is so freaking good! Thank you!
Very informative
Ahh thank you so much for watching!! So glad you found it useful 💙
