Tom, congratulations on earning this well-deserved scoop. It shows your hard-earned influence in the world of charging. With that in mind, it would be a real service if you could do a demo video to show ways not to block two charging spots at SCs, eg.: park (if possible) to the right of the last right-most stall; use one of the side-mounted stalls even if you stick out a little; and 3 choose a stall next to another non-Tesla vehicle. It is interesting to note that Tesla owners tend to choose every other stall as they fill up (this goes back to the early days with v2 sites that halved the charging power of occupied adjacent stalls). If six Teslas are parked in a 12-stall site and leaving one space between each, no vehicle with a port in the “wrong” position will be able to charge. It’s going to be an interesting new world out there.

Tom, double-check with your source on the Bolt EV/EUV software update being required. My understanding is that only the older models need it. Edit: Only 2019 and 2020 Bolt EVs might need the update.
I took my Lectron adapter, updated my app as discussed here and drove my 2023 EUV Premier to the nearest Tesla supercharger in the Indy area and the car operated as-expected and began charging before I cancelled.
@raymondgellenbeck7459 if Tesla wants to make money opening them, it is in there right to do so. It's a business, if the Tesla owners don't want that ,they can make a complaint at Tesla crop. Overall it's Elon decision, elected executives and share holders. It's a difficult road for them to go back to exclusively to Tesla charging station. 🤷🏾♂️
I just purchased the tesla adapter at my Cadillac dealership here in Montana. I am so happy to have all of the additional tesla charging stations here in Montana. Charging stations are few and far between. This will reduce my range anxiety significantly.

Good news. I ordered a Chevy adapter for my Blazer EV yesterday and got notice that it has shipped. I have seen several places that GM has said that using 3rd party adapters would void the battery warranty. I did not want to take that chance for just a few dollars. Will replay back when I test it.
Thanks Tom. I checked my app during your video and was able to authorize and order an adaptor before you were done. I had reward points that basically covered the adaptor, and it will supposedly be delivered by the end of the week. So, no free GM adaptor, but excellent service. Looking forward to trying it out.
Charging today at a Tesla supercharger using the Lectron plug adapter. Initiated charge through Tesla app, everything communicated quickly and started charging.😊 2017 Bolt EV
We're trying for our Bolt EUV. The GM help desk told us we had to sign up through Tesla. The only non-Tesla own plan was $12.99 a month just for the privilege. Is that how you did it? The $12.99/month membership?
Tom, I actually have been able to charge my Hummer at non Magic Dock sites in Arizona since June, using my Ford adapter. Snuck in while GM was doing hot weather testing. Some others were able to charge at some sites in Michigan as well.
I'm glad more cars get access to the supercharging network. I stopped to use an electrify America charger once thinking it was a free charger, but was shocked to see how expensive they were for how slow the charging was. $0.59/kwh for 150W is a joke, like I know that it's a monthly subscription for non-Tesla owners to use the superchargers, but it's hard to beat the $0.35/kwh charging at up to 250W. The abundant amount of superchargers is a huge plus too if you need them. I'm fortunate enough to have charging accessible at home, so I've only used a supercharger 4 times. Once on a long distance trip, and 3 other times while waiting for my mobile charger to be delivered to me.
Nice, finally. I ordered the adapter from gm so i could use my gm bucks that are otherwise useless. It said backordered, so hopefully they just send it when available.
Great show, as always Tom. The difference between GM's and the Ford/Rivian? adapter rollout is that GM is actually delivering them. In some cases, people that ordered them yesterday already have them and in my case, it has shipped and is in transit.
Just picked up my adapter from my GMC Dealer (I own a Chevy Bolt EUV) . The adapter i received is the Tesla manufactured adapter (the adapter on the left at 13:50 in the video).
I just charged my 2023 Bolt EUV Premier at a local Tesla Supercharger site using an A2Z adapter. NO SOFTWARE UPDATE REQUIRED. My Chevy app did not show that location was available, but my Tesla app did and it did let me charge. Kw charge rate was much higher than I have ever seen on CCS chargers. Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks Tom for letting us know that GM was finally on the Supercharger Train.
@@leppard98 I began with about a 40% state of charge. The Supercharger I used started at 53 Kw which is by far the highest rate I have seen in the almost one year of ownership. Typically I start at low 30s Kw, and go down to low 20s pretty quick, at EVgo and ChargePoint locations. I wasn't there to get a full charge, I was just confirming it will work. I only took on about 3 1/2 Kw at a cost of $2.02. The charge rate was 49 Kw when I disconnected. This was an almost new Supercharger location that is actually configured for easy plugin without hogging 2 spaces. I was impressed.
Im glad you went over charging etiquette, people will be messing that up, for sure. But, at least videos out there, like this, will help. I have a Honda Prologue, which is on the Blazer EV chassis, and assembled on the Blazer EV assembly line in Mexico, and it also works with both Magic Dock chargers, and now NACS chargers with the CCS1 adapter, just like the Chevys.
I wonder about Volvo and Polestar access. I believe they were originally scheduled before/with GM. I don’t see the need for waiting for the brand app support. Using the Tesla app is easy as we have proved with Magic Dock access.
This is great news. I don’t plan to use the Tesla network as a first choice, at least until they get 350kw charging, but it will be good to have such a large network available when traveling in areas with less choices.
V2 chargers have the silver ring on the cable near the connector. Primm NV and Baker CA still has both. Make sure you drive through the lot and find the chargers with no silver ring.
Thanks Tom, it is sad that GM is charging for the adapter, at least I used my GM Rewards points to pay for it, so it cost me eighteen dollars in taxes only. I will pick from the dealer this week, I need to do the first-year service anyway to rotate tires on my Blazer EV, it is hard to believe it is a year old already.
Great news Tom, but my assumption is that your Equinox should charge to its max as Tesla does not have that low maximum current that EA has on the 150KW dispensers, would make interesting video for GM owners, especially Chev Silverado EV.
Especially in light of Tom's 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV DC Fast^H^H^H^H Slow Charging Analysis Maybe an update is needed there. th-cam.com/video/K8WTSYIl4f0/w-d-xo.html
I have a Chevy Bolt and I just used the Tesla app to charge just like I do with my Lightning. You will see now on the Tesla app when you select the Bolt it now shows the same chargers available to the Ford Lightning as the Bolt.
Well done Tom, this time you beat Kyle to the punch although you also had exclusive insider info and did this prior to the public launch. Look forward to the podcast with the boys to find out all the info that you didn't cover including the back-story on it all. As you say though I suspect both Lectron & A2Z will see more sales as Tesla just isn't manufacturing the 'official' adapters fast enough.
To be clear, only 60% of the Tesla network SITES support NACS. It is not just the V2s that are Tesla only, even 40% of the brand new sites are reserved for Tesla only, even on the new hardware. Connector count is a spec used to exaggerate the amount of the network that is open. It is critical to check the Tesla app when route planning to ensure that you don't get stranded at one of the Tesla only sites. ABRP also allows you to filter for NACS. independent of Tesla. This confusion has stranded many EV drivers.
@@cypvh74 I don’t disagree, but in many places, by the time you’ve arrived at a charger planning to charge, it’s way too late to find out it is not compatible. I think Tesla also likes to be able to make changes to NACS support without physically changing signage at the site
The Chevrolet Equinox EV is such a sexy little two-row crossover. *gm* knocked the design out of the park if I’m being completely honest. It looks more expensive than it actually is imo.
Was funny seeing this video during my lunch break after I'd seen the splash page info about this on the GM internal homepage. We have an Equinox EV and I'm hoping to pickup my Model 3 in a few days, so having this adapter will be great. It is $225 and the part number is 85090442 and looks like the one from Tesla in the video.
Tom, you didn't record or talk about the most important aspects. What kw charging speed is the supercharger delivering to the Equinox?? Is the 10% to 80% charging time faster in Supercharger vs Electrify America? Does the car and the app shows the charging speed in kw? Does the car screen show the charging cost, or is it only on the app? ($ per kwh, and total cost)

Thanks Tom. I have a Lyriq and just activated after seeing your video. The adapters are back order of course but I ordered one anyway. I already have the Electron adapter I bought last year after you reviewed it.
Thank you for the update, I just added Tesla to My Chevy app and order the adapter. The adapter is on back order already.
Awesome! I saw some GM vehicles charging with adaptors around Michigan a few weeks ago. Appeared to be employees testing so I thought it must be getting close. Nice to see it is here!
I just ordered mine, picking it up tomorrow at the dealership. Fun fact, you can apply your points and get a great deal. I can’t wait to charge at the Tesla Supercharger up the street from my apartment.
Thank You Everybody for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth....
Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste
🙏🏻 😊 ✌ ☮ ❤
Funny I just spent several hours trying to order the adapter. When you were explaining it I was searching online on my Chevy app and never found it had I been paying attention to you, I could have saved a couple of hours and a trip to my local Chevy Dealer. Duh!
What a goofy method for ordering 🙃
Sitting on the "order" page, after following the proper steps, I wanted to "share" or "save link". Nope. It's obviously in a browser, but you can't get there from here.
I still can't find it listed on my app, so messed up
I am glad to se this [Tesla owner]. It's good for the country as a whole.
Tom, the OEM is a rebranded Lectron
Can anyone confirm this? The lectron is a bit less expensive and available with Tom's discount or through Amazon for $218.
I'm pretty sure that the OEM one is from Tesla.
@@SeanGrahamSean But I do believe the Lectron Vortex adapter is also an approved adapter
@@lindawhite629It should work.
@@StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney What about A2Z? Any words about that adapter being approved?
I would prefer going with A2Z as it is slightly less expensive
Tom,
Could you please do a 20%-80% on the V3 with adaptor video for the Equinox EV
And map the adaptor temps as it will pull max amperage
We want 10 to 90 percent video. Or better yet, 5 to 100 percent.
Tom, double-check with your source on the Bolt EV/EUV software update being required. My understanding is that only the older models need it.
Edit: Only 2019 and 2020 Bolt EVs might need the update.
Let me ask. The 2023 model year still able to use it? For the Chevrolet bolt?
I took my Lectron adapter, updated my app as discussed here and drove my 2023 EUV Premier to the nearest Tesla supercharger in the Indy area and the car operated as-expected and began charging before I cancelled.
the two Tesla owners charging there gave me dirty stares at different times like "omg, are you kidding me, now we have to deal with Chevy's here?"
@@raymondgellenbeck7459
I just purchased the tesla adapter at my Cadillac dealership here in Montana. I am so happy to have all of the additional tesla charging stations here in Montana. Charging stations are few and far between. This will reduce my range anxiety significantly.
I was just scrolling through the comments looking for a Caddy owner to see if there was anyone who had an adapter. You were the first I found. Next I need to find someone who has done an actual charge. Good luck!
@@rlejr66 I purchased my adapter off from the myCadillac app. It said it was available at my dealership, but it hasn’t arrived yet. I will let you know when I have charged my car with it.
Lectron is one of the adaptors being sold on GM's accessory site.
Do you have a link for that? I can't find "NACS" on the parts site, only the convoluted method that Tom points out in the video.
Congratulations!
It would help to have a refresher on L2 and DC adapters when you have NACS or 1772 native
@@lizburgess4398 You do not need a membership
I did not sign up for them $12 membership, I just pay as you go.Unless I start using the Tesla chargers a lot I don't think it's worth it.
Tom, I actually have been able to charge my Hummer at non Magic Dock sites in Arizona since June, using my Ford adapter. Snuck in while GM was doing hot weather testing. Some others were able to charge at some sites in Michigan as well.
As soon as I saw the news I said, I bet you a million Tom already has a video and already did it. Boom! Lol
Great news! Hopefully the other automakers will gain access soon!
Well done, Tom. Great video.
Nice, finally. I ordered the adapter from gm so i could use my gm bucks that are otherwise useless. It said backordered, so hopefully they just send it when available.
I am a new user and I appreciate your video! I subscribed to your channel!
2022 and 2023 bolts and bolt euv do charge just fine did one yesterday
Great show, as always Tom. The difference between GM's and the Ford/Rivian? adapter rollout is that GM is actually delivering them. In some cases, people that ordered them yesterday already have them and in my case, it has shipped and is in transit.
Try to do it first. You may not need the update after all
Just picked up my adapter from my GMC Dealer (I own a Chevy Bolt EUV) . The adapter i received is the Tesla manufactured adapter (the adapter on the left at 13:50 in the video).
Well done, Tom!
What was you kW charge rate?
Thanks Tom. You answered all my questions, again.
Woohoo! Thank you, Tom! I’m watching this video while looking at a super blood moon hanging in the sky! I wonder if Elon was making a point lol
well it's 2pm the next day and they are on back order but I ordered my converter. Luckily I am not going on any road trips soon. Can't wait to try it.
Glad you mentioned using the Tesla app to charge GM cars. It is so much easier to use than the clunky steps in GM's app.
Awesome video Tom. Thanks for the step-by-step.
You order the adapter to the app. Not the website. Otherwise, flawless
V2 chargers have the silver ring on the cable near the connector. Primm NV and Baker CA still has both. Make sure you drive through the lot and find the chargers with no silver ring.
Can I just say that manual door on the Equinox is so much better than the obnoxious motorized one on the Blazer EV?
Beyond Awsome!! Now I need VW/Porsche access! Hopefully soon :-)
Especially in light of Tom's 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV DC Fast^H^H^H^H Slow Charging Analysis
Maybe an update is needed there.

Omg I’m so ready!!!
*Excellent channel, excellent content!!!*
The adapter on GM's website looks different than the Ford NACS adapter.
This is crazy I can’t wait to try it😂🎉 now I need an adapter 😢just got a 2024 blazer 😊
super cool Tom, upvoted!!
Hi Tom, Your reviews are great and fun. Can you also review EV charger pedestal stands?
Hurts to see 1 car occupying 2 stalls which a Tesla could use. Tesla really needs to increase the cable length to cover both sides.
Tesla now seems to be installing new chargers sideways which helps with this problem.
Yes that's a good move atleast for future SCs
To be clear, only 60% of the Tesla network SITES support NACS. It is not just the V2s that are Tesla only, even 40% of the brand new sites are reserved for Tesla only, even on the new hardware. Connector count is a spec used to exaggerate the amount of the network that is open. It is critical to check the Tesla app when route planning to ensure that you don't get stranded at one of the Tesla only sites. ABRP also allows you to filter for NACS. independent of Tesla. This confusion has stranded many EV drivers.
GM's app (garbage that it is...) allows you to search for compatible nacs locations.
I know I am not thinking if you bought a Tesla you wouldn't have had to wait and can charge any superchargers. Welcome to the network.
The sites need to have clear and obvious signage.
@@cypvh74 I don’t disagree, but in many places, by the time you’ve arrived at a charger planning to charge, it’s way too late to find out it is not compatible.
I think Tesla also likes to be able to make changes to NACS support without physically changing signage at the site
It has been coming for a while. Here it is.
@StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney It seems GM is allocating backordered Lectron adapters to Bolts and other vehicles get in-stock Tesla adapters. You have to put in your vin to order it.
