    Nigel, You have nothing to apologize for regarding the additional information about tools, paints, glues, etc. As an engineer myself, this is exactly the kind of information I find incredibly useful. Keep up the good work!

    Awesome work Nige😉👌👏👏👏👏 Thing that gets my goat, is some people just don't get how much work it actually takes to build a model...I have great respect for the time and effort you put in...it certainly helps my modelling😉👌👍...oh, I sent Sue my mates address in the UK, so hopefully when he comes to SA in Feb he can bring me the stickers for you guys channels, Icequeen7, Nigels Modelling Bench, Plastic Monkey and Rally Car Minitures😉

      So, finally, my Spitfire Mk IXc from Airfix finally arrived. Box in perfect condition, no tracking info at all, UPS decided to deliver it to a pickup point halfway across town - a week ago, Airfix customer service got back to me with a location this morning. Looking great so far, decals was in the bottom of the box, with the instructions booklet on top, so no damage. The paper between the top sprues was cut by the main fuselage wing joint areas, no damage to the sprue above as far as I can see. Good times ahead. Thanks for this amazing build series Nigel! Will be followed in the future.

    Hiya Nigel. Really loving this build series.... In respect to people asking what products you use then may I suggest you just add a list under the description. You could just copy and paste this in each time, so would not be a major effort to add, even maybe add links in to Premium Hobbies if you wish for all of the regular / common items. I am sure Ed would appreciate the links..... For unusual or new items, or items for a specific purpose such as the weathering pigments as used on the Katy build then you could add these at the bottom of your standard list.. You can just say to check the list in the description then... If people don't actually 'watch' the full series then as far as I am concerned it's their own fault if they either miss what you tell them or don't listen!!!
    Model on!!

    Thanks, Nigel. Re the tools, paints etc you use, you could simply make a few vids on each topic, put them in a play-list, and get on with construction. I watch for the tips, tricks and sneaky moves you use in the course of a build, and your comments on the various brands of kit - really informative. For instance, I'm watching through the Stuka build and you mention Wingnut Wings, Kotare (I'm Kiwi) and Spitfire - got me a Spit on order! Double thanks, mate! (haven't built a Spit since about '68 🙂)

    I have seen the issue of the step arise in other builds of this kit. Having followed the channel for quite a while now, I find that I keep a small pad and pen handy when viewing your posts, when you mention a tool that is of interest, I jot it down and if necessary just replay and hit stop to see the part number etc. I do this for all the builders I follow. Learned the hard way that you can't apply the techniques learned without the proper tools

    Hi Nigel, Wow, that engine looks great. More useful tips in this video. I wonder how many people realize that Tamiya Extra Thin and Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner are exactly the same thing? The last couple of models I've build I have used Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner. The Airbrush Cleaner is about 1/4 the cost of Extra Thin. Thanks for the update. Have a great day. Jeff

    Hi Nige. Just watched your wings videos. I'm always a bit behind cos, like you, I don't watch anything til I've finished making it meself LOL. If you do build another I'd highly recommend a book called "Spitfire Mk.IX & XVI - Engineered by Paul Monforton. It goes to rivet level if you want it to but pictures of the little hatches in the wheel wells etc. are brilliant. It also answers your little gripe about differing riveting and the thing I rejoiced at..the fact that the wing lead edge gap was as much as 2mm and often wasn't filled! Great detail on doing an E wing as well which is great for me as I'm building mine for the guys at BBMF and theirs is an E. Peter at Airscale used it on his monumental Spit build and we know what that won.

    As I'm watching the episode, you mention the Rolls Royce logos on the valve covers. I thought that since Airscale is making a cockpit detail set, perhaps he'd make red Rolls Royce decals too.

      @Nigel’s Modelling Bench Ah, yes, you are right. Maybe some text overlay with the name of the products? But this will probably require lots of additional work, and people would not pay attention anyway :/

    Another super explanatory video as always Nigel thanks for your work. I am using your tips very often.
    Last night I've used your tips from I think one of B-52 videos about painting same colour over masking first before different colours to avoid leakage of paint under masks and it worked beautifuly.
    By the way as you mentioned that funny stringing of Ammo Black superglue it may be some special recepture prone to static in combiantion of Pringles lid. As long I've used lid from small glass of Nutela (some sort of white plastic from which the glue easily peels off when it dries) I've never had any stringing issues, but as soon I've put that glue into lid from Pringels stringing happened to me too.

  • @Ryker06

    You may recall in an earlier spit build vid I said I will be interested in seeing how the engine covers align/ mate up with fuselage. What you have run into is exactly what I was expecting. Even now I think you will have gaps where side panels align with fuselage. If you align there for no gaps the fronts will come out of alignment. And yes, that is likely why most photos are as you describe. Have you tried slightly adjusting how engine sits in the cradle and mates to bulkhead? Maybe? That with thinning down covers will work.

    • @NigelsModellingBench

      I am ahead of these videos in real time. I am currently fitting all this up. I left the engine bearer unglued for that exact reason.

    Coming on well Nigel. That pipe that is in the way, (the ignition harness conduit), should AFAIK, and certainly in R.L, be snug up against the Stbd rocker cover, and the curved end should not protrude above the flat top of the intercooler. I don't have the kit, but do have the instructions, and that is what it is showing too. Maybe the parts do not fit as intended, or are deformed?

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldnt be at all surprised if my parts are deformed mate. The sprue on my kit was a mess.

    Hi Nige. I'm loving the videos and the tps. I used to be a modeler back in the 70's, mostly Tamiya 1/12 F1 cars and a few other kits. Marriage, kids, work and life in general put a stop to that. 40 odd years later and I'm now retired and have a bit of time on my hands to play again. I'm seriously considering the Spitfire and have followed your build with great interest. Air brushes were luxury back then, my wifey has an expensive (Badger) airbrush with several size needles still in the box that she purchased cake decorating, but never used it and has (reluctantly) donated it to me. What compressor do you use or would you recomend? Thanks Nige for inspiring an 'old fart' back to the hobby.

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would buy the best you can afford. Cheap compressors are not economical in my experience. I use an Iwata now.

    Hey, Nigel! Great stuff as always! Now, a question on your old videos. I was searching for your series on the Titanic hull, but couldn't find more than three or four videos. Where can they be? Would it be possible to have them in a playlist? That's classic stuff you did there, not to mention a great reference. Thanks, dude! My wifey and I just love you! 👍Happy New Year!
