@@flaviushonoriusemperorofro3903 .. I don't think so ... Tennis need young players who can replace the big 3 but it seemed impossible until now .... Tsitsipas, Zverev, Thiem and few others showed some hope but they failed to dominate the big 3 and lacked charisma as well ... Carlos has given some hope now and other young players will get motivated ... this is really good news for tennis.
The best thing about Carlos is he doesn't hold back and is not afraid to pull the trigger when his shots are on. Even if he misses a couple, he keeps pulling the trigger, that's his belief in his game
Let me predict: He's gonna be beat by Garin at Rome. And he's likely to reach the round of 16 at best at Roland Garros or even worse at Wimbledon. He's no super whiz kid. Please stop this pompous rally.
@Ryan Jenson You look at all the matches. Djokovic, not at his best form yet, was the closest to beating him. You can bet that Djokovic will find a way to beat him next time. Tennis is all about intelligence and mental. He'll solve it next time.
The young master is teaching tennis . He's great and no one will be able to keep up with him . He trains hard and puts in practice what he trains for . Amazing the way he keeps his cool . Bravo to his team as well .
Those drop shots are mental. It is almost impossible to play him when you combine those perfect drops with such a massive forehand. I mean the fact that he wins every single point directly off the drop or after setting it up with the drop already shows how mentally destructive it is for the other player
It gets in your head. We had one at our club who mastered those dropshots as well. You just knew that in every frikkin' rally, that dropshot *could* come, but not always. Made you freak out mentally and often position yourself incorrectly in anticipation.
Exactly, the great thing is that he doesn't use drop shots to compensate for, lets say, his inability to play long rallies or a weak forehand or backhand, he simply has all the tools so even though he uses the drop shot a lot, it's still unpredictable
Yeah that is the thing. When you have a such a huge huge forehand and to be honest Alcaraz even has a pretty nuts backhand, the opponent just always has to be so far back whenever they are on the defensive. And just like Nadal, Alcaraz has excellent hands too and insane court coverage. All he needs now is his serve to be an all court weapon.
@@TheRabbitsaver the point is, he has the speed and the "intention", he lacks a better effectivity and placement. When he gets >75% of firsts in like today, he becomes really difficult to break through and it gives him such an important advantage. However, he's usually in the 60s% at best which is very inconsistent for a player that needs to be dominant. But, well, the thing is he's barely 19... If even Nadal had some periods of very good serving at his peak (USO 2013 and 2017 come to my mind), Carlitos who already has a very good speed can become a true monster

Carlos Alcaraz has now cast that mystical aura around the tour, a halo that comes along with the very best of the best, and creates that huge psychological edge over the rest of the highly skilled lesser mortals. This happened when Federer emerged, when Nadal rose, when Novak transitioned to his stratospheric levels. This is the metaphysical dimension to the rarefied champion of champions, that takes care of half of their matches even before a serve has been made in the game. At the tender age of nineteen, that awe-inspiring halo has been bestowed on this phenomenal talent. It is his to keep now, and if he can hold on to it, there is a decade waiting to be won over, and more.
You could hear the trepidation in Zverev's voice the night before, even after he had just won what was an unfavorable semi-final match-up for him. He could already hear the footsteps in the forest, he already feared, and you knew he was done.
This match went so quickly, these 7 minutes were more than 10% of the total match time. And Alcaraz took about twenty steps in the 7 minutes while he had Zverev running all over the court. Impressive stuff.
This guy is playing on another level right now. If he continues this way, he will be first in the next 2 years. His shots are so well controlled, full of confidence, just remarkable. His drop shot is almost perfect, kinda robotic like, well timed, precise. I'm a fan.
you just can't not like this kid. he his so good at the game, so fun to watch, at his age doing great things and is still very humble. I would love to see him dominate the tour for awhile
It's surreal!!! This kid is just fantastic! I can imagine the Big 3 giving him a standing ovation looking at eachother all 3 in disbelief as to how meteoric Carlos' rise has been! He improves day by day it seems. Insane! As for the rest of the top ten they would be thinking: we've been trying to win like Carlos for years!!!
Zverev yesterday finished his semi final at 2.00 and went to bed at 4 in the morning, while Alcaraz playing his semi in the afternoon was nice rested and fresh. Alcaraz is very strong, no doubt. But unequal treatment for the two finalists and, at these levels, all this makes a lot of difference.
This guy is scary good. Nadal's fitness and fighting spirit, Djokovic's consistency and mental toughness, and Federer's creativity and aggression. He's a monster.
Why do people mainly describe Nadal by fitness and fighting spirit? He is the arguably the best volleyer, has one of the best forehands and his running backhand is unparalleled. Give him more credit than that.
He has earned my respect and total support. May he always be focused on being the consumate sportsman on and off the court such as Nadal has been and still is. He is exciting for tennis. Thank you Carlos....all the best in Rome!
Actually crazy what Carlos does on court, pure joy to watch. First time I see such focus and hunger in the newer gen. If he won't lose it or fall prey to injury, we might see him dominanating in the next decade. Good luck with that!
Once he gets himself a grand slam, it's game over for everyone, the patience and poise of every rally to wait for that ball to completely obliterate is out of this world and the kid's only 19! LET'S GO CARLITOS!!
Exactly he is a player with as much talent as the Big 3 but doesn't seem to have the competition. Like imagine any of the Big 3 wmif the other two didn't exist . Easily they would have won 27-30 Slams . Hahahahah
@Doge di Amalfi He is 19, he has already won 2 master 1000, he has no pressure to win more. If he doesnt win it would be logical, there are at least 5 players better than him
To put bluntly he's just better than players that were tipped to be the next big thing like Shapo and FAA. He's only just started his career and yet he's got more Masters than over 80% of active players.
Love the muted celebration when Zverev double faults, despite it handing him the championship. Not the first time I’ve seen him humble in the face of winning through opponents errors. On top of his talents, he has an amazing attitude.
Totally agree, but if Alcaraz could have finished it off with a blazing line-skipper, maybe he would have 10% less muted! It would have been a very deserving "fist-punch." But, yeah, Alcaraz is full-on SCARY-GOOD with a super attitude!
I have never seen someone always taking the Iniative at crucial moments like Alcaraz..It is at the most Pressure moments that He cms up with a masterful dropsht..He does not wait for his Opponent to make a mistake..

Wow , that must feel so great that walk to the net, he seems to really enjoy it, meeting up with Zverev , having finished him in just over an hour. To speak with Rafa, truly unbelievable dominance at that age.
For me, the way he was hitting drop shot winners against Djokovic was unthinkable. He had already hit six unplayable drop shots that nole was helpless on. That's genius level touch. What hands Carlos has. He can suddenly hit a 100 mph shot off either wing followed by a 20 mph dropper. He can also drop shot off another powerful shot. His lobs on the dead run are precise and land close to the line and corners but with plenty of margin. It's a gift.

It is so exciting to think that still he has room to improve!!! Serve (although that kick serve is really harmful) and too many unforced errors (not today, though) are the areas to improve for Carlitos, imo. If he gets those, cant think of anyone able to stop him dominate this decade
@Rafa Undisputed goat you prob said the same thing last year and then Novak stopped him in his tracks. Oh but let me guess it's because he was injured again.
Alcaraz's drop shots are killer. Can't get away from it. His shots are stronger, faster and smarter. No doubt, he will top the leaderboard in the future. Congratulations to the Spaniard. Its just the beginning 💛❤️💛
He's the first guy that I've seen out of the new gen that has "it." He has all the weapons and utilizes that drop shot to perfection. Once he feels more comfortable finishing at the net he'll be dominant.
I've always said that all the Next Gen players are very good and talented but it's hard to see a future legend in any of them but Alcaraz definitely stands out.
That bemused look and half smile from Ferrero as Carlos was a set and 4-1 up says it all really. This was a tennis clinic and Zverev was made to look like some part timer and not the wrold number 3. Incredible.

There was much talk of the new generation who would take over from the top three : first it was Thiem, Tsitsipas and Zeverev, then Daniil Medvedev stepped in as the new challenger, but it could be that Carlos will bypass the lot of them.
I think it will be Djokovic, Nadal, Carlos and Tsitsipas, Medvedev and possibly Zverev (who is the weakest in slams never having beaten a top 10 player) who will compete for slams and the big titles. Maybe Thiem if he can get back to his top form. Then the rest of the top 10-20 like Sinner, FAA, Rublev, Berretini, Ruud, etc. who are currently just a notch below. Then you might see some new comers emerging too.
@@maimou We'll wait and see how it goes, but I think Carlos is a once in a generation type of player, and the fact that Roger, Rafa and Novak all did it together was highly unusual and will probably never be repeated. The only caveat will be to see how he copes with the additional demands of a grand slam tournament.
Alcaraz is a truly complete package, strong baseline game, great net game, awesome touch, explosive and quick around the court, and a great person!!! just WOW
@Rafa Undisputed goat If only you had the commitment to play tennis like you have the commitment to spam, you surely would have won French Open this year.
Gotta love Carlos. His attitude, his behaviour, the drop shots, the fitness, the massive groundstrokes. Breathtaking. Upcoming French Open will be sensational….
He will break through for his first Slam championship this year. If not at RG, certainly at the U.S. Open. (Wimbledon is a wild card and the Great Unknown.) He has the game that's tailored for hard courts.
His forehand is way better than Novak's...but backhand ist very similar, yes He seems to be the perfect player, no weak shots at all - power, variery, serve, attitude - he has everything.
@@maultasche668 he does too much unforced errors. But that is the easiest thing to fix. I don't see any new gen player stopping Carlitos of winning pessimistically at least 10 Grand Slams in the next decade.
The real final was yesterday with Nole and the real semi-finals with Rafa the day before. In this moment I believe only Djokovic or Nadal being at 100% could stop him. Today he was just toying with Zverev, too easy for Carlos. Congratulations!
@@cristinaravet3706 Maybe he seemed okay and congratulated Carlos right away and a little bit of champagne will help cure that bad feeling which they both drank. If you think this was tough imagine cyborg last year one GS away from winning the Golden slam. Meddy took care of him though. And now look at novak he's still bringing it even after that enormous loss. He's not Serbinator for nothing. And... He'll be back!
This ‘kid’ literally went from boy to man in matter of months. From pupil to master. There’s no Medvedev, Zverev or Tsitsipas joining this one man show. We may very well be witnessing the birth of the undisputed GOAT 20 years from now!
A Carlos has proven in the space of 4 months that he’s bred not from the same cloth as Zverev and Thiem lol did you not just watch that final!? Bar Injury and health Carlos is the all surface real deal!
About one year ago I thought Sinner could be a game changer in ATP tennis, but no. Only Alcaraz is the one to compete with Nole and Nadal until he becomes the new World Number 1. The way he handles with pressure is outstanding. Watching him is different. Love him ❤️
Sinner was overhyped soo much imo. Pretty consistent but couldn't really win anything big. His skill ceiling wasn't and still isn't very high. Carlitos on the other hand is also very consistent but his level of play is much higher which allows him not just big tournament victories, but now,his level is at a point where he can win against the best of the best and is the favourite in basically every match albeit one or two matchups( like Rafa/Novak at GS)
However, it is very important that Sinner and others step up their game. If there’s a complete one-man dominion, tennis might become a bit predictable and boring. We need the rest of the guys to step up their game and keep Alcaraz on his toes.
I do think Sinner has potential, he just needs to get in shape, he looks frail, also he doesn't really construct points well, his saving grace is that violent forehand and a very Djokovic like backhand (stroke wise) But now here comes Alcarez with a even more violent FH , fit like a Olympian and has scarey lvl of court smarts and focus for his age
I never really liked Sinner’s game. He is most of the times trying to overpower the opponent with crosscourt shots, and tends to get predictable after a point. Alcaraz on the other hand mixes it up so well that he was able to wrong foot two of the best anticipators in the sport.
He breaks their rhythm, you can clearly see that Zvere just does not know what will come back - he mixes drop shots into it perfectly and has superb legs to cover every inch of the court if needed! 🥳🙏 yes he looks bright!
Wow...sensational. Such a huge tournament to beat Nadal, Djokovic, and Zerev in 1 week. Outstanding!!! Alcaraz has arrived among the top 10.. and he is well on the way to his goal of being world No.1. Huge congratulations to Carlos.
What else can you say about this guy? The hype is more than real. I am not sad that the big 3’s careers are almost at their end, but I am excited that a new era is starting with Alcaraz. I’ve never been excited than when Rafa debuted back when. Congratulations, Carlitos! You better work out those 💪 because you’re gonna be lifting bigger and heavier trophies 🏆 from this day forward.

Crazy to think that Rafa was 2 years into his professional career when Alcaraz was born. Rafa is still playing with the best of them and Alcaraz is out here taking down GOATS and winning masters
4:36 That point typifies Alcaraz right now. Zverev knew the drop shot was possible, was prepping to run and then Alcaraz just ripped it down the line. Insane and a nightmare to play against. If he keeps this up, I can see a paradigm shift happening on tour again in shot variation & cutting down rally length to combat it
Apart from everything else, there is this special thing about Alcaraz, that he always plays so freely in the finals, like if all the pressure was gone after the semis and the last step is the easiest thing to do. He’s 6:0 in finals matches now, 13:0 on sets (three setter was the Next Gen final against Korda). This year he dismantled Schwartzman, Carreno Busta and Zverev in the finals. Only Ruud played a competitive final match against him but still lost in two sets. Alcaraz is simply phenomenal and has the mentality of a great champion. I have no idea who will stop him from winning most big tournaments after Nadal and Djokovic retire. Maybe we will soon learn that even they can’t stop him on the slams. I don’t see any reason why he should disappoint in Paris or New York with this kind of form and confidence. And I am super curious about how his game will work on the grass. We might see a little more fake dropshots there I think.
Don't count out the big 3 yet. Both nadal djo were rusty or hindered. Give it more time then we shall see how everything pans out. Although I feel like fed might have a really hard time with alcaraz but we shall see. I'd say probably Meddy has a shot but not if the crowd is against him which it probably will every time he plays against alcaraz. Crowds in tennis are fickle and unfair so get ready for alcaraz to win a lot of tourneys without competition especially whenever big 3 are gone
@@stevenhartlaub4557 In five sets, they have less chances. His athletic power is already far above theirs. I know its hard to assume, same for me as a Nadalian trooper. But this kid now, is unstoppable.
The scary part of his game is that it is high-risk, but can work in any surface. I think he could be just as dangerous on grass as he has been on hard courts and clay. The one problem he may have is to adjust to the bouncing in the new surface for his forehand and backhand winners (dropshots should work just the same). So, he might be vulnerable in the first round of Wimbledon, as he makes those adjustments, but being high-ranked will avoid him playing against tough opponents then, though a brilliant Seb. Korda (which is clearly under-ranked at n.30) showed recent-form Carlos is not unbeatable.

This man Alcaraz is playing with so much confidence it's scary. He dismantled Zverev. I don't know that anyone can stop him. The only place left for him to prove himself is a grand slam. Well done Carlos!!
This result doesn't surprise me one bit. He already defeated the 2 toughest players on clay in Nadal and Djokovic. This was a cake walk compared to those matches.
I remember watching nadal playing in the 2005 Australian open against Hewitt and I thought he was the best 18 year old tennis player I will ever see in my life time!! Well alcaraz is on par if not slightly ahead of nadal at the same point of there careers. The tennis world is in for something special over the next 15 years.
Without even going into a Semifina in a slam, Alcaraz is already the favourite against anybody as of now, except Rafa/Nole in slams. But if he plays like this in slams, he has even more chance of winning against Rafa/Nole because of age factor.. Alcaraz is basically the best 19 year old after Nadal as of now.. Let's see if he can win slams before he turns 20. He has a big chance but we'll have to wait until he actually wins..

Yep, Alcaraz is going to be a lot better than any of the current players in their twenties.
The best thing about Carlos is he doesn't hold back and is not afraid to pull the trigger when his shots are on. Even if he misses a couple, he keeps pulling the trigger, that's his belief in his game

@@serveyourname5565 you already nailed the first one!
Medvedev is soon back -- we see how that goes... But yes, Alcaraz is ON FIRE!
@@NORWAYORNOWAY I agree with you but he has those drop shots amazing timing amazing results he's playing incredibly intelligent short long soft strong
All he needs now is his serve to be an all court weapon.
probably why Zeverev looks so out of it in this match. Mental destruction.

Es momento para Nadal de dedicarse al golf.
It is his to keep now, and if he can hold on to it, there is a decade waiting to be won over, and more.
well spoken
Spot on👆🏾
You could hear the trepidation in Zverev's voice the night before, even after he had just won what was an unfavorable semi-final match-up for him. He could already hear the footsteps in the forest, he already feared, and you knew he was done.
Oh, you expressed that so beautifully. 🙂
Well said ,👏👏
This match went so quickly, these 7 minutes were more than 10% of the total match time. And Alcaraz took about twenty steps in the 7 minutes while he had Zverev running all over the court. Impressive stuff.
I love Alcaraz's short grunts when he hits 100mph rockets 2:19. Sounds so satisfying and as soon as you hear it you know a winner is about to fly out.
That's just genuine spanking.
Totally. Remember the double against Rafa at Indian Wells?

This guy is playing on another level right now. If he continues this way, he will be first in the next 2 years. His shots are so well controlled, full of confidence, just remarkable. His drop shot is almost perfect, kinda robotic like, well timed, precise. I'm a fan.

Man, what a player Alcaraz is… already! Mind boggling to think he’s only just turned 19. The future AND the present of tennis. 🙌🙌

Love the muted celebration when Zverev double faults, despite it handing him the championship. Not the first time I’ve seen him humble in the face of winning through opponents errors. On top of his talents, he has an amazing attitude.

I agree. Alcaraz has (so far) the perfect combination of talent, abilities and the right attitude.
That, much more than his better gameplay, is what sets him apart from most of the other top ten youngsters.

He played like the more experienced and the master of tennis.

There was much talk of the new generation who would take over from the top three : first it was Thiem, Tsitsipas and Zeverev, then Daniil Medvedev stepped in as the new challenger, but it could be that Carlos will bypass the lot of them.
Medvedev will argue
This ‘kid’ literally went from boy to man in matter of months. From pupil to master. There’s no Medvedev, Zverev or Tsitsipas joining this one man show. We may very well be witnessing the birth of the undisputed GOAT 20 years from now!
totally agree, Carlos is a once-in-a-generation talent.
Injuries notwithstanding. Seems to have a clean, even keel game.
Entire ATP will have to raise the standard to a new level in order to participate.
I agree! I'm just curious how he will perform on grass or hard court 😁
Love him ❤️
There is something about Sinner I don't like.
I do think Sinner has potential, he just needs to get in shape, he looks frail, also he doesn't really construct points well, his saving grace is that violent forehand and a very Djokovic like backhand (stroke wise)
But now here comes Alcarez with a even more violent FH , fit like a Olympian and has scarey lvl of court smarts and focus for his age
I never really liked Sinner’s game. He is most of the times trying to overpower the opponent with crosscourt shots, and tends to get predictable after a point. Alcaraz on the other hand mixes it up so well that he was able to wrong foot two of the best anticipators in the sport.
Excited to see Carlos dominate future matches. He's on fire!! 🔥🔥

I still like Novak or Nadal in best of five on clay where experience can be the decider.
I really hope sinner can do something
The scary part of his game is that it is high-risk, but can work in any surface. I think he could be just as dangerous on grass as he has been on hard courts and clay. The one problem he may have is to adjust to the bouncing in the new surface for his forehand and backhand winners (dropshots should work just the same). So, he might be vulnerable in the first round of Wimbledon, as he makes those adjustments, but being high-ranked will avoid him playing against tough opponents then, though a brilliant Seb. Korda (which is clearly under-ranked at n.30) showed recent-form Carlos is not unbeatable.
Finally good to see a player actively using the front of the court. It makes the game super interesting and dynamic!
Just when guys like Zverev, Tsitsipas, Rublev started to believe they could beat the 3 goats, then a 19-year-old superstar comes along and spoils the party 🙂

He’s not ahead of Nadal, Nadal at 19 had already won 2 grand slams and 6 masters titles
And some people said zverev is too tall for alcaraz to lob. The boy is a beast
I cannot believe that the first ATP tournament won by the future GOAT was in my small hometown - Umag. :)
Let's hope Alcaraz, Nadal and Novak aren't on the same side of the draw at the F.O.
I personally want Rafa to face Novak/Alcaraz only in the final. That's his best chance of winning against them.. biased I know
The pleasant face of Alcaraz's coach tells everything~~:)
