So, where and when did you first hear the original Strobe by DeadMau5 ?
today, with you, this cover is maybe better than the original
I first heard a friend play it for me when I was a teenager, but it has a deeper meaning for me.
My parented divorced in 2003. I was 13 years old. Summer of 2005, I was dropped off in front of my mom's apartment. My dad was pretty offended and hurt that I chose to live with my mom again. It was because I missed my friends, missed my old school, my old life. He took it personally, drove me straight to my mom's apartment and just drove off without even a good-bye. I was really close to my dad, so him just leaving like that was hard to deal with.
Every night that summer I had trouble sleeping. I couldn't stop my brain from thinking. So, I would drag my mattress out to the living room, hook up headphones to the computer, and play Strobe and fall asleep to it. I'd just get lost in the music. It would stop me from thinking. There was nothing but the music.
I still get sentimental listening to it now, and your cover is the best I've ever heard. Thank you so much for making this.

So here is my story: I was an overweight high school kid. I decided to take up running. I ran and ran and ran. After my long runs I would listen to strobe on the back porch. This song always takes me back to that feeling. A simpler time, a simple goal. I just ran my first marathon 16 years later. You know strobe was the first song I played on that drive home.

While it's great to play the song on so many instruments I think the best part of this whole cover is the mastering :) you really nailed it to match the feeling of the original.

As most Deadmau5 music, I wanted to close my eyes and let transport me to another place. But, this was just not to be. I kept watching to see what he was going to use next to get the desired sound.

Deadmau5 is one of my favorite EDM artists, and this cover is amazing! I love it!
Most artists have 1 "perfect song" imo. Some can get 2 or 3 over their career, yet that is rare and usually occurs for classical composers or bands.
This is Joel's perfect song for sure. Or one of them depending upon how you see the rest of his music.
As a weird addendum: Victor Wooten's "The Lesson" is his perfect song lol. That song is FIRE, in any way it is played. Solo. Band. Orchestral. Funk. Prog rock. Doesnt matter.

He plays there every year the first weekend of November and i have gone the past 3 years and plan on going every year as long as he comes!

Discovered Deadmau5 a few years ago and have a great liking for many of his tracks. From learning a DAW, playing around with it and watching what others did I know how hard good DM remakes are to do. It's not only the acoustic colors, but also the timing. You nailed it - this is just awesome to listen to!
