  • Ever tried to hit the knee cut pass, but your opponent denied you by holding onto your pants?
    Sucks right?
Well, it’s even more difficult to hit the knee cut pass when your opponent also uses their leg to block your path forward.
But it's ok because the solution you seek is waiting for you in the video above.

I watched it, memorized it, went to class, used it, passed - the first time! As badass as the triangle defense!!!!

Keenan rocking the killer audio here. Clever move with the mic clipped on the lapel rather than running a lav and having to deal with the wire.

I used to beat everyone in my gym, but there was this one judo guy who did this to me every single time and I could only turtle. Years, I mean years. There is no solution to this. You need the right leg to be on the hip. This is one of those passes that is really hard to defend because it is so fast and it goes so far, that if you give the guy the grip it's over.

The only counter I can see to this is when you use the sleeve grip to pull your opponent up, your opponent will use your momentum to get up and transition into a single leg attempt

I must have watched Lucas Lepri's DVD about 50 times on how to pass, especially the hip-lock pass. There's no one better but there is no one in my school or city with a decent, proper worm guard to test against and properly cut the circulation in my legs. It's all terrible variations and to be honest easy to pass if you don't make the first couple of mistakes(prevention). Commence Keenan cloning.

Dont let your posture get broken down. You shouldnt be able to armbar / triangle someone if they are upright unless they breakdown your posture

Id like to see Keenan kneeslice like that on the gravel... i mean, he a tough blackbelt and efficient at getting medals but, in the street, he would get pushed around by a tough guy or a bouncer. i only a GJJ purple belt and i can guarantee that Keenan has no defence for my front headlock.

@@dznArro I not here to joke around, I mean it. He tough competitor, a world champion even. But in the streets where they have the groin kick, the headbutt, the eye gouge you have to be able to defend yourself from all the possibilities and I don't think Keenans jiujitsu would have the effectiveness of a GJJ purple belt like myself and he would probably get kicked around by a tough guy or a security guard

    • @capoeirask8

Keenan is a world class Bjj competitor... do you really think if he gets into a fight on gravel that he’s gonna knee slice? Do you really think he’s going to pull guard, and do worm guard in a fight? In a real fight, I’m 100% sure he knows how to close the distance and apply his pressure where he needs too. I doubt you could even put him in a Guillotine in the first place. If I was a betting man, my money is on Keenan 100%

To me, he amateur blackbelt until he offer full self defence program that allows a 125lb woman to be a 250lb plus man in the streets
