Worry not. SpaceX will always be testing new boundaries to minimize dry mass and cost of Starship. They will constantly be straddling the line between over engineered and under engineered. Plenty of explosions to come.
Hopefully New Glenn will be successful. With it being a Heavy lift rocket with huge fairings and reusable booster... it should push the whole space industry on.
@carljohan9265 Yes.. in thrust... but New Glenn's fairing has so much more capacity. E.g. could launch Dream Chaser, large modules for new space station etc..
@@jamesstcbsbasinlane9012 The launch cadence is the single most important factor, because that's the reason SX is now up to an annual 85% of the total mass to orbit for the entire world's launches combined. And BO has demonstrated an extremely slow snails pace so far because they've existed for longer than SX and still haven't put anything into orbit. I'm not investing in anything BO is attached to anytime soon.
Yeah not to mention Apollo obviously. I think he meant to say first samples from the far side (which is a legitimate accomplishment), but that could've been said more clearly.
Really appreciate the news! I was packing up for the new Glenn launch when you mentioned Friday was the launch date. Just this morning it was still set for tomorrow!
I know for a fact blue origin will succeed with New Glenn’s first flight! After all, they do only hire the best! Even though SpaceX is further ahead in larger rocket launches, Blue Origin has been taking their time with R&D so I’m SURE that they will nail it early!
Matt's Back! Lownes around! Will this be the year that FSD works? Will Tesla deliver the Roadster? Will Matt be entertaining? That's nope, nope and YUP!
Hope Both New Glenn and Starship launch this week expecting another delay on New Glenn though but would be good for Blue Origin to hit this launch and landing first time.
What was favourite space flight moment of 2024: the Booster catch of flight 5 obviously. What will be my favourite moment in 2025? The ship catch on flight 8. Being a bit over optimistic? Probably, but space x never fails to catch us by surprise, so I guess they will do it again. And I admit that I am very looking forward to New Glenn disintegrating on jacklyns deck. It took space x years to perfect this skill, I doubt blue can pull it of on the first try. Though I would like to be proven wrong here too 😊
Hi Matt, I am playing on a new modded Ksp Career save with Community Tech Tree. I currently have no idea to earn such kinds of science point. Can you make a video about how to make large amount of science point in game?
MATT! Could you check out different space Games Like, Spaceflight Simulator 2 (It releases this year its kind of going to be KSP2's better cousin) and JUNO:New Origins
@GoloGreis-i3nwell we’re the only species capable of doing what we’re capable of that we know so we’re simultaneously in first and last place. We’re the best and worst technological species that we know of
Re-enact tge "for all mankind" missions. And I am looking forward to being at starbase for tge first ship catch. Hoping new Glen is colossal failure and beings exit from aerospace industries
2024 was stunning! For KSP I think u could do a modded Career with Stockalike Stationparts, New engines and an overhauled tech tree. Maybe even visit some modded deep space planets or another star system. U could even use this career's footage to make another cinematic... maybe. Good Luck anyhow, love your content
If launching more payload than the rest of the planet combined then doubled is “getting their shit together”, I wonder what you think of every other space company on the planet
Like others mentioned, how in the world did you get the idea that SpaceX didn't have their stuff together? They launched over half of all rockets that went to space last year. They likely put over 90% of all mass into orbit as well. Starlink has continued to improve and has well over 3M subscribers now. And Starship, by far the largest and most powerful rocket ever developed by any NATION, has been making constant improvements and setting multiple world's firsts.
The catch of the superheavy booster was the highlight of 2024 for me. The low point was the predictable farce of the Boeing Starliner. A truly shameful episode in the NASA/Boeing collaboration, and a black eye for space enthusiasts.
The fact that there might not be a “How to not catch a Super Heavy Booster” video on the SpaceX Channel is kinda crazy.
Worry not. SpaceX will always be testing new boundaries to minimize dry mass and cost of Starship. They will constantly be straddling the line between over engineered and under engineered. Plenty of explosions to come.
I mean... It's kind of hard to record when you only have one launch tower, thus one chance
@ it would’ve been over years of attempts tho lol
@@PET3R2
I guess how not to catch a superheavy booster won’t happen……. Booster 12 care to explain?
You forgot to mention another record breaker:
Parker Solar Probe made its closest flyby of the sun, becoming the fastest manmade object ever.
i love that the media, when they reported on the probe, decided to use the launch of another rocket system and gave space x 0 credit in the report .
@@raymckinnon2185 what launched it isn't super relevant for a report on the probe's accomplishments
@@ValentineC137 maybe they can throw it at the sun next time
Flight 5 was definitely the coolest thing that happened in my book. That booster catch was wild!
Couldn't agree more. I stopped my family from leaving an Air BnB to watch it.
4:13 First time I've seen the footage spin stabilised. I totally didn't grasp how much it was spinning. Wow.
That video segment was x100 speed! edit, OK, I see what you mean now. Yes, the spin was not noticeable until you see it sped up!
Hopefully New Glenn will be successful. With it being a Heavy lift rocket with huge fairings and reusable booster... it should push the whole space industry on.
Competition is good! That's a good reason to want New Glenn to succeed! It'll also make Orbital Reef one step closer to reality
It still loses to Falcon Heavy in lift capacity. And I SERIOUSLY doubt it's flight cadence will be anywhere near enough to be industry changing.
@carljohan9265 Yes.. in thrust... but New Glenn's fairing has so much more capacity. E.g. could launch Dream Chaser, large modules for new space station etc..

All im here for is the starship news. I like that rocket. This show is like my "ALERT STARSHIP IS ABOUT TO LAUNCH" notifications
Me too
Y'all should watch the other launches as well, lots of exciting stuff happening
JAXA 2024: "Mün or Bust"
It’s wild to be watching this video with internet from space about how Starship is going to help improve my space internet. What a time we live in’
The amazing success of Ingenuity further demonstrates that the folks at JPL are chronic overachievers to an incredible degree.
they all have a degree in overengineering
Of-course catching a booster was awesome, but I really enjoyed a violin in space after the space suit test. This year will be awesome
Changi 6 is not the first robotic lander to return lunar samples. Luna 16 brought back moon rocks in the 1970s
Yeah not to mention Apollo obviously. I think he meant to say first samples from the far side (which is a legitimate accomplishment), but that could've been said more clearly.
Far and away, my favorite event was The Megazilla catch.
Mind blown.
For an idea on ksp make the mars base camp, by lockheed martin, and make their madv too, its insane
The booster catch was the biggest moment for me, blew my mind!
Really appreciate the news! I was packing up for the new Glenn launch when you mentioned Friday was the launch date. Just this morning it was still set for tomorrow!
This year is going to be wild.
Happy your back❤
1:58 slim significantly outlived its intended lifespan
for KSP, a series of Mars missions, starting with mapping to find the best spot for a camp, probes and rovers, and finally a manned mission or 4
Super heavy booster catch, no doubt. I almost passed out because I forgot to breathe when they caught it. Had to go lay down. So exciting!
Thx Matt!
The catch of the booster and test of star ship 😊
How about some KSP2 mod previews, Matt? It would be nice if we could get some encouragement from progress on stuff like community fixes.
For KSP, maybe bring back Life on Laythe but with cool modded base parts from SSRX and planetside
Its going to be an exciting year.
Good job 🫵😎🤙 keep up the good work 🤠👍
I LOVE YOU MATT❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Mabey he should use a star woman and launch a tesla pick up into outer space. 😎 it really is cool marketing. Use starship to launch a pick up 😊
Can’t wait for IFT-7. It’s going to be SICK
The catch was so cool to see. Good show.
For KSP my idea is to play the mod Starship Expansion Project paired with Starship Launch Expansion (the mods are still indev so they aren't complete)
Favorite spaceflight moment of 2024: All of it!
Looking forward to starlink!
Great video thanks!!!
You could make a stock Starship Block 2 in KSP. Block 2 Ship and Booster with the current design, just like in Flight 7.
for ksp id like to see more ambitious missions to more distant locations in the solar system this could also include the opm and kcalbelloh mods
I hope they will be able to catch it again ..
The catch!
I am looking forward to ISRO’s flight test of their crewed spacecraft
i wonder if the re-entry flaps (hinges) were more like gull wing doors on a car they would be more protected duing re-entry.

Matt will kill me for thinking Delta IV's final flight was one the best of the year.
thanks!
hey nice video! i wanted to ask if block 2 isnt also bigger? I kinda blacked for a moment XD
It's one ring(about 2m) taller. Nothing major. They increased the propellant tanks by 3 rings though so now the payload bay is 2 rings smaller.
what time is new glen launching? it could be a race to orbit
Supposed to launch at 12 am on the 8th
The dates keep changing, they are NETs. The FAA has not issued an advisory for SpaceX Spaceship test flight 7 yet.
this is great
Welcome back!
Hope Both New Glenn and Starship launch this week expecting another delay on New Glenn though but would be good for Blue Origin to hit this launch and landing first time.
If spacex attempts and fails to catch the booster, you have to make a comment akin to “you can’t park there” or “you dropped something”
Delta IV Heavy, you will be missed!
Pls Do a Mission using the starship Expansion product mod to go to jool or to minmus
I think that the 10th is impossible for a Flight 7 attempt. They didnt even roll out the ship😢
They are going to launch out of the megabay actually

That's what i told em but they still arrested me 💔
Do a ksp 2 video on April 1st
I thought NG is a few days before

What time is BO planning to launch on the 10th? Last I heard it was planning for 0100 local on the 8th...
No,12th
We should make our next mars robots look like the gunships from avatar. We must invoke as much fear as possible in the Martians
Blunderbirds with starliner

omg missed you
The first country to collect samples on the Moon and return them to Earth was Russia, and they did that in 1970. Their rover was called the Lunakod.
Apollo 11 bought back samples before that.
2:35 Did anyone else also hear Diddymos?
For KSP, VTOL Spaceplane SSTO

hello Guy Lux !
My favorite accomplishment was when i made it to duna :D
Better not be at same time!!
I cannot see any FAA advisories for SpaceX Starship test flight 7. Blue Origin NG-1 keeps changing the date.
"Functioning" payload bay
When will starship go orbital
Less go
Did bro say DIDDY mos ?
Raptor pi flies again!
2:47 how did Diddy make this happen
6:34 It's 'Comprising' or 'Composed of'. 'Comprised of' doesn't make any sense.
YOu missed the ISRO mission
Just hope it's not at the same time
You did say you'd be sprucing KSP up with mods, there's a lot to choose from. Perhaps start with Nertea's near-future suite of mods?
i think new gleen wil explode while starships soars
i winder if DIDDYmos will get any minors in the future?
6:45 Pi?
Several new rockets launching for the first time in 2024, while only one isn't obsolete.
🤷
Re-enact tge "for all mankind" missions. And I am looking forward to being at starbase for tge first ship catch. Hoping new Glen is colossal failure and beings exit from aerospace industries
pls do another starship in ksp. i need you to suffer😘
