I already liked this song before, but after playing through Spider-Man 2 I saw a whole new layer of depth. The lyrics are Peter and Harry conversing about the power the symbiote grants them. Some sections that I would like to highlight in particular: "I will count my lucky stars Face my fears, won't count the cost I'll never give up on you I just need the strength too Make it through, I'll find a way I just need to hear you say That you'll believe in me" "I felt lost, but I found That you can never tear me down Your rainy days don't phase me You won't drive me crazy I never felt so free" Both of these sections appear in the early parts and at the end of the song and they have different meanings in each. 1st Appearance of the "I won't count my lucky stars" section is Harry simply asking Peter for his support in fighting a deadly disease (I'll never give up on you, I just need the strength to/I just need to hear you say that you'll believe in me". He's willing to do anything to save himself and live his life (Make it thorugh, i'll find a way). He wants a chance to heal the world. 1st Appearance of the "I felt lost but I am found" section is Harry first acquiring the symbiote. He's growing healthy and strong again. He's finally "free" from his disease. He feels like nothing can tear him down. "Your rainy days won't phase me" here is Harry asurring himself and Peter that they can move on from the past. The song ends with repeats of these sections and they take on a whole new meaning with their more energetic performances. This time it's taken a more sinister turn, Harry is Venom full on (which you can see because clips of Venom take up the majority of the last part of the song). He quite literally feels invincible now instead of figuratively and he still wants to "heal the world" with his best friend Peter but by spreading the symbiote which “healed” him. "Your rainy days won't phase me" this time is Harry/Venom refusing to listen to Peter, who knows from experience that the symbiote will corrupt him into a monster and must be destroyed. He no longer feels bound by the law or the disease that rid him of his future for years, he feels so free....
This feels like a song that would fit Earth-1610's Jessica Drew (Ultimate Spider-Woman) pretty well. She's a genderbent clone of Peter who had a bit of an identity crisis early on, but found her identity some time after Peter passed away.
