HOW TO: Natural Ponds, Pools & Waterfalls | Tutorial | Sims 4 | Simsational Builds

  • Hi Simmers!
    Thanks for joining me for another Tutorial 💖 In this video I go over how to make natural-looking pools, ponds and waterfalls that you can create in The Sims 4 with no CC, and just using Base Game.
    NOTE this tutorial was filmed before the base game update that has the actual pond tool - the great thing is you can use all those pond features (ducks, pond water colour etc) in pools as well, and you can use them when making these pools and ponds look more realistic while still being able to swim in them!
    Cheats used:
    bb.moveobjects on
    bb.showhiddenobjects
    bb.showliveeditobjects
    [ = size object down
    ] = size object up
    9 = raise object
    0 = lower object
    Alt = free place object
    To rotate objects use arrow keys, or you can also drag objects to rotate while holding down the Alt key
    As always if you have any questions or if there was anything I forgot to mention, please comment below!
    I hope you enjoy this tutorial! Don't forget to Like & Subscribe, and follow my other socials for more images and updates 👇

    thank you so much for making this! I was just saying I wish we had more affects for the pool and I love doing natural-looking swimming holes like this, but now I can make my own 😍 love that you use a Sim for commentary, that's so cool!

    • @SimsationalBuilds
      @SimsationalBuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You won’t be able to stop it, but choose the thinnest trim you have available and disguise it with rocks - if you go down a level so you can see the bottom on the pool, select a rock (I like to use the long one from debug base game) size it down using the square bracket as much as you need, and raise it using the 9 till it reaches the top of the pool edge and just a little higher - so that when you place it, there are just rocks on the edge of the pool rather than the trim. I hope this makes sense! Good luck!

    • @SimsationalBuilds
      @SimsationalBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! And I’m so glad you used my tutorial ☺️ the reason the colour of the water is different is simply because I’m using a water texture that came with get together! The standard/base game water texture has that light blue look that doesn’t look quite as realistic. There are some new water textures that came with the latest base game update that gave us an actual pond tool, I haven’t tested to see if they work on pools rather than ponds yet but it would be worth a try! Hope this helps ☺️

    Do you by chance know how or can you build an aquarium with fish? That you can swim with. I've seen some and they all use pc. I'm on ps4 platform.

    • @SimsationalBuilds
      @SimsationalBuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can actually use the aquarium in the game for this- place it next to your pool, in live mode stock the aquarium, then go back into build mode, size the aquarium down to the smallest size possible - the fish will stay full size and look like they are swimming in mid air, you can then move the aquarium to the bottom of the pool and hide it with rocks. The fish will look like they are swimming in the pool. You will need bb.moveobjects on enabled and you can place as many aquariums in the pool as you like. There is also an object in the snowy escape pack - the water lilies - that will make koi fish swim around, you can place that in pools also. Hope this helps! forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/930315/the-sims-4-console-controls

    If I use the move objects cheat, will this affect my gameplay achievements or anything else?
    Also, is PC version the same as ps4, can I achieve the same things on ps4 as PC? Xxxx

    • @SimsationalBuilds
      @SimsationalBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe there might be an achievement for not using any cheats, can’t say I’m sure about it because obviously I do 😂 otherwise it won’t affect anything in your game. Gameplay can be affected if you try using moveobjects around usable items (anything a sim interacts with) as you can accidentally place something that might be in the way of the sim trying to use the object and cause a routing issue… if that’s the case it just requires some fiddling to find the object and move it till the sim can use the item again. If you want a sim to swim in the pool, you have to leave a space (just a tile wide) that is clear or has the steps like in the video. All the commands can be used on PS4, however as I use PC I am unsure of what they are on your controller. Hope this helps ☺️

    Can you do this without the move objects cheat? I hate the move objects cheat because every time there is an update and I log in, the always dumps all those objects into the game inventory and I have to redo a bunch of junk every month. Having to redo things because of that cheat is one of numerous reasons I get frustrated with build mode and just use game build homes. I don't have access to the gallery either. Thanks.

      If you input moveobjects on BEFORE you enter your build/sims household (so on the map screen) after an update then you shouldn’t have an issue with items disappearing. There’s also a couple of mods that exist that ensure moveobjects on is always on, for the same reason. Otherwise, you can try your best by just placing the rocks and plants while holding down the ALT key, that will allow you to free place them but not overlap. It won’t have quite the same effect but you should get it pretty close. Hope this helps!

      @@SimsationalBuilds I tried the cheat before and after, it made no difference at all, it all just got undone and i'd spend days redoing it all. Especially the gardens.

    Can I put fish in the pool?

      As this tutorial is using a swimming pool, you can't put in fish that your sim can go fishing for - but you can use the pond tools I believe, there is a fish one there, or in the snowy escape expansion there is a lillypad item that has koi swimming underneath in-game :)

      Could you do one with the base game

    • @SimsationalBuilds
      @SimsationalBuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So sorry for the late reply, i didn't realize I missed your comment - you absolutely could do this base game, just use the base game pool and all the rocks are base game also. The only items that are not base game is the water texture and some of the water plants (from Get Together) :)

    Everything was great until the plants part. No way to do that without using cheats? I want to still be able to get achievements

    • @SimsationalBuilds
      @SimsationalBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will have to do your best to place the plants within their grid then. Hold down the Alt key while moving the plants and you may be able to get them closer - may not be perfect, but with some fiddling around you should be able to get it to look good even without the cheats ☺️
