The added excitement of that gar made the whole thing worth the time. White bass are addicting!
Haha, the gar catch was a fun way to kick things off. Love catching those lil bass. Such good fighters and in a beautiful environment.
I like using small marabou jigs, roostertails, curly tail grubs, rattle traps, spoons, and blade baits. I literally didn't even know about whitebass until my brother and I started catching them one morning in late May last spring. We had no idea what they were at first, just that they were huge and extremely fun to catch lol. Unfortunately, the action only lasted for about a month before they retreated back to deeper water for the summer, where they could only really be caught using a boat. We caught them primarily on 1/16 white marabou jigs and a couple on chartreuse. Going to try out some custom jigs, streemer flies, and hopefully spinners once the pre spawn action starts here in PA in the next couple months.
Thats awesome. Thats a great selection of lures!
Monster fish right out the gate! Excellent info and lures. You crushed it!
Haha yea biggun. Thanks buddy.
I love using Blue Fox spinners for white bass
@@Bama2126 oh yea, fun lure to catch em on. So many great lures for white bass!
What a first hook up! That was pretty cool
Thanks, was a biggun!
That set up you have is the most perfect set up for beginner white bass fishing my reminds me of my first set up a 6’6 ugly stick rod and a 20$ quantum reel
It's a great combo! You can't go wrong with a good spinning rod for the white bass.
@ I wanted to head down to George west tomorrow but I don’t know what to expect I’m in Houston so I’d be taking a risk if I don’t catch anything the fishing up here is really bad for some reason white bass have yet to swim up the creeks
Super cool catch & video! 🎣
Thanks!
Great video brother!
Appreciate it! 🤙
That's fishin. You never know what's going to happen.
Definitely, thats what keeps us going back.
Good stuff, love the ultra light content. Picked up some of the Pecos underspins at Dicks this weekend. They look promising.
Thanks! Yeah Ive been having fun with it. Pecos are great!
Line class record? Great first catch!!
@@kennethloy3412 I thought about that too haha. There some 200+ lb records caught light-lining. Made for an exciting start to the morning!
They get larger in the great lakes.
Yea, some tanks up there, I used to live in MI. I think some of them are hybrid species.
Yep. 15-17 inches and around 1.5-3lbs seems to be the norm in lake Erie. The white perch are much bigger there as well.
🎉🎉🎉
🤙
For those of us who don't have a kayak, is there a good place in that area that we can walk to and fish?
What braid are you using for the UL set up?
Power Pro
@ thanks man, Fish on!
I went on the white bass run in 2020 and it’s just so sad to see how low the river is. I almost didn’t go this year so I didn’t have to see it lol
@@JDN.08 I think its great, drives the traffic down extensively.
Dang son! Would have been awesome to get it on the bank to take a bad ass pic with it
Yea, big fish haha. The cold snap had him pretty chilled out, once he realized he was hooked, he wanted no part.
Been on the river many times, but can't tell the flow. Everything looks so different with the water so low. Not everybody has a kayak or is young enough to get one up river.
Last time I was on the river Mathis was 93.5 ft I think it's about 85 ft now, that makes it 8 ft low, yikes.
I hear ya. I agree, completely different perspective with the water level low.
Yea its down quite a bit
