This song takes back to when I was in 4th Grade back in Fall of 2006. I remember listening to this whole album on my Batman CD Player going to school. 2006 was a good year for Hip Hop !!! DJ Drama had the mixtape game on lock, Nas started the whole Hip Hop Is Dead theory and had a lot of rappers in their feelings,The Game vs 50 Cent was still entertaining, and Lil Wayne was even starting to get big once Dedication 2 came out, T.I had one of the best albums/movies of the year plus a lot of great albums dropped that year.
Word! 2006 was good year for hip hop. I'll even go back to 2004 where you had Kanye dropped The College Dropout and Lil brother "The Listening" among other releases that year. Those years were also dope where mainstream rap and underground indie rap were able to co exist with each other before the SoundCloud era came a few years later after that.
Bruh im telling you this is exactly how I felt. Lupe made me actually like and love Hiphop. I bet if he knew he was having such a positive effect on people like us, he would be a lot happier.
Pharrell, Lupe, Ye, Jerry, IBN, Virgil, Taz, Clipse, Hugo, I know there's more but these guys pioneered the Japanese streetwear into America. My mom would bring me stuff that I never heard until I started studying those guys. You never lose you nerd sense

This whole track had similies and metaphors that went over people's heads. It truly didn't get the credit it deserves for being lyrical and banger. "I warn y'all cornballs, I hush puppies." Thats one of the many cold bars on this track 🥶🥶🥶🥶
@@aryaman9559 You've been tricked. Hip hop was never about aggressive angry lyrics or death. Rap and hip hop was always allowed to have any topic. The difference between good and bad was lyrical prowess, flow and a damn good instrumental. That's all it really takes. Gunshots don't make a song better, they just tell a different story.
This is one of the best raps I've ever heard. I say that because there's a certain flow/pattern he uses that I've never heard in any other song before.

this was the first song i ever heard from lupe and i liked it so I checked the food and liquor album and immediately loved it. food and liquor was one of the best albums ever.
What's makes me appreciate Lupe even more is how fresh he is. He's not shoving images of million dollar cars or dozens of females dressed in less clothes than I have socks on. Lupe's lyrics are not only fresh but complex and he presents a positivity a creativity that that is hard to find in modern day rap. Thank you, lupe.
