Great video, Mark! I used to use a ceramic lather bowl and though I was always super careful I did eventually drop it. I had to stop and clean up the bathroom before shaving as I had splintered pieces all over the counter and floor. I now do not allow anything breakable in the bathroom and even have a plastic drinking glass in there now.

Stan, I'm really trying to be as careful as I can. I keee a towel nearby to make sure my hands are dry. I have a few non-ceramic bowls that I use.

Hi Mark- Great shave and lather bowl review; thank you! That’s definitely a nice bowl. I was lucky to get the indestructible bowl that Shave Nation offered previously, which has saved me a lot of broken ceramic!😊 Have a great rest of the week. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Mark.🎄

I don't have a shave nation lathering bowl, but I need to get one. I have ordered a lot from shave nation and they get stuff out to you FAST ! So far my favorite lather bowl is the Captains choice obsidian lather bowl.

Hi Mark. Great video. I’m glad you liked the bowl. I’m still amazed how easy it is to make a great lather and how much lather it makes. The Copper Ascension razon is on my radar for next year. It’s sold out right now. By the way Shave Nation has a bowl the same as this one except it has added bumps on the inside called the Indestructibowl. It's unbreakable. Unfortunately, it is sold out. About 3 months ago I asked about it and I got an answer that they were getting more in stock soon but I still have not seen it listed on their web site. Have a great week and Merry Christmas🎅!

Great shave, Mark!. I don't know what it is exactly, but when I watch you shave, I can really see that you are using a light touch. It is so important! And you really demonstrate the technique well! Thank you!

John, thanks!) This is why I always say, "30 degrees, a light touch, let the razor do all the work, gentlemen." It's a lot like golf. Let the club head do all the work, simply provide a smooth swing.

Morning Mark. Nice demo of the Shave Nation lather bowl. I don't use breakable bowl anly more, since I can't get down on the floor to clean-up when I drop them. Shave Nation does offer a non-breakable shave bowl that looks much like the ceramic one. All of my breakable bowls are now just decorations. I change off use between the HC&C and the PAA porcelain bowl. I've dropped the PAA bowl and put a chip in it but it doesn't break.
Enjoy your week and be safe.

John, I'll have to check out that Shave Nartion bowl you mentioned Interesting. I'm getting other comments form folks who no longer use ceramic bowls in the shave den. I chipped my PAA brush scuttle, but was ablet o glue it back together.

Love my Ascension Select from Phoenix Shaving, it's my favorite razor and the one that I use for a majority of my shaves. It truly is an excellent razor and the Select is at an equivalent price to the Rockwell 6C which is around $50, so that's not a bad deal. Mark, do you ride the cap with your Ascension razors? I think the design of the head was sorta built for it, but that's just my opinion. I do find it to be helpful in smoothing the shave out though. I used to use the Twist adjustability feature when I used Astra greens, but since I switched to GIllette silver blue blades, they work wonderfully in the Ascention, I have not needed to use it.As a side note, what I've found to be helpful when I bowl lather using my travel scuttle from phoenix shaving, is to let the soap bloom a bit while in the bowl. Smoosh the soap in the scuttle, put some hot water on top of there for a few minutes while I get everything else ready. I've found that there is less residue left behind this way. The only time I bloom my soap is when it's in a bowl. I don't bloom it when I face lather.

Tman, if I ride the cap at times, I don't notice it much. Then again, I'm not opening the gap so much that I would need to. A quarter of turn is max for me. That's usually on the first pass. Sometimes, I don't even give it that much. The efficiency is so darn good, even at it's most mild setting (snugged up completely). The Select was my first Ascension razor, and yeah, it's a great value for the money. I have it on my list of recommended razors for many beginners due to its smooth performance and the twist adjustability.

I recently purchased aftershave splash from Phoenix, I believe they said that was enjoyed by Paul Newman. I purchased the shave soap and the aftershave only to discover that my wife doesn't like the smell. Her exact words were that it smelt like an "old man". I've been reluctant to order any of their other fragrances. I've ordered other items from them and really liked them. She loves the TOBS and Castle Forbes products I use.

Their Future Fiction scent is great. When in doubt, buy their bar soaps or order cologne samples.

I call it a Knoble 🤣. And yes, have to remember to build the bowl lather and THEN do the Cube! I forget that every so often too.

I loved that bowl, it was my first shaving bowl when I started wet shaving back in the day. But, unfortunately, it's ceramic and I accidently dropped it and it broke into multiple pieces. I now use a stainless steel unbreakable palm bowl (with ridges inside). My advise, stick to bowls/mugs that are both durable and unbreakable.

Nothing to do with this particular presentation, but I have never watched one of your videos that you gave negative feedback. Now I appreciate such a positive attitude but not sure such positivity is always warranted. Keep presenting but also be more frank about the products you review.

Antonia, point taken. The truth is, I love the process and all the gear associated with it. But, yes, I can be a little more constructively critical where it is warranted.
