I like to PvP, and PvE. Usually wearing an Exo Suit nowadays. Unlocking it is easy with no cheats needed anymore, and usually on a server, official or unofficial, I'm not fussed. Single Player is great though, certainly with a guide for any platform be it xbox, ps4, ps5, pc, it's great. Sometimes play MTS, and usually post patch/update. But a survival game needs some community news and that's what I do, giving you the latest on events, small tribes, maybe even fast flyers and primitive plus, usually covering all maps from Island to Genesis Part 2. And one day. ARK 2!

Damn, this is a much better style of your taming guides then before. Not that they are bad, but I like this style better somehow. Showing examples and summarizing everything at the end is really cool.

Yes but using no trap is still easier
Also fall damage annihilates your taming effectiveness, it was a throwaway that I basically just tamed for fun, but I jumped off of a rock and instantly lost like six percent effectiveness
Ya i had the same thing happen, although mine was caused bye the speed buff after killing a dino, ran off a little rock was just high and fast enough to do fall dmg

Great guide! BTW You can use your own baby rexes on PVE in stage 1. They are draggable and bring the friendly meter up to 100% immediately.

Great to see this. On a PvE server and noticed the unclaimed dinos wouldn't take. Planned my next hunting trip to use a Karkino to make a pile of bodies to feed in quick succession as well. (carry stegos/trikes to near location of trap out of sniff range)
Karkinos can carry bodies oj PVE?

Center has the fastest respawns for gigas/carcha! I would recommend going between lava island or snow North for their spawns

Great job mate. Thanks for the shoutout. Just to clear something up, at 2:00 it sounds like you are saying you can't use tamed for stage 1 on PvE, but you can. It's only on stage 2 where the difference comes in.

I trapped one near the Ice Cave on Extinction and took it in there against the level 200+ Bears, Yeti's and Wolves. Their high health means higher taming percentage, and the Carchar's debuff means they can't get close enough to hit you. The only thing you have to be wary of is when you hit 100 kills and it kicks you off in the middle of loads of very angry high level cave creatures, or when it tames and it's in the middle of a load of angry cave creatures, though tamed it shouldn't have much of a problem with them. Best to have a Giga cryo'd ready to help it fight off the wild creatures, should it tame in there. 2 trips to the cave were enough to tame a level 15 on x1, but I don't know if higher level Carchar's get less taming, though you'd think so.
High level carcharos do, in fact, take more. I tamed a level 85 and 145 females today on Rag and the 85 got 1% for most kills and the 145 took 0.7% for most kills and I tamed them on 2x rates
Don't let it reach 100. Let the timer go down a little and then keep killing dinos. That's what I've read is the way to not get kicked off

You forgot to mention and I can’t stress this enough if the stacks are getting high use the Rawr it will deplete the stacks so you can keep taming lol

First Tipp you not need to trap it bcs then its bugged most time, second you can feed it yuti babys for step 1 its instant rideable then.. three you need to fill up the counter on the bottom left and eat as fast as you can 100 creatures to keep the efficiency high and you need to avoid any damage as good as you can ✌
Its funny you had to suffer hours in the stream a week ago to know a very effective way to tame the beast more so in the problem It bugs out in stage one and how render distance can be key. But great video mate.

You are the man Raas. I don't care what they say about you. Lol jk but seriously man, thank you for clearing this up. The carchar bugged on us everytime. Hopefully the on foot luring fixes our issues. I usually use my snow owl for luring into that trap. Looks like I gotta do it myself now. Lol
It's great there coming up with new more immersive ways of taming, but trying to do this in real time and not having the tame messed up by lag,glitches or bobs is ridiculous. Wish they would save this for Ark2 and just make thing run smoothly before they add new taming machenics.

Really helpful stuff Raas! Just a quick question though. Can I just fly away with a Sino after dragging the corpse instead of trapping it? Or maybe using stone because you are gonna let it out anyways?

When you drag Dino or whatever to the charchar does the meter stay green for while or does it drop? I don’t have high weight on my character

I had to use the behemoth gate style trap to get my first one to tame . They kept glitching ching otherwise before they could tame
Are baby rexes on PvP and X3 rates a good source for filling up its taming bar on the second stage
!!!PEOPLE IN SINGLEPLAYER!!! there is a setting for switching between pve and pvp. for taming the carchar, just switch it off and you can feed it baby dinos for taming percentage. after taming just activate again :)
Imagine if wildcard changes the carchar tame than you would have to make another guide
Could you eat a rare flower when riding it, Draw in the wild Dino’s for the slaughter or would that kill effective taming? Or is it better to be selective with what you kill?
I duno if its 100 percent efective tester only yesterday on official pve gen 2 but for feeding phase try use baby youty level over 200 , on 145 was one feed for green icon.
I sorta regret switching my SP to PvE to remove the cryo timer, since I now have to actually work to tame the Carchar with wild kills instead of converting babies to Prime Meat.
For single player you can switch between PVP & PVE every time you load up the map. So just uncheck the PVE box if you plan on carchar taming that session.
If bloodrage gets to max and I get kicked off of the carch will I lose my taming meter as well as taming effectiveness for stage two or will I only lose a little effectiveness. For ex I had one at 70% tame got kicked off and sent to stage 1 if I got back to stage two would he still be at 70%?
I theorise with Elixr and a forest titan you can Insta tame. Will test soon
Can you get the tame bar to 100% in one run if you get lucky enough?
If you do the roar the blood rage counter will reset to 0

I feel like ever since Genesis 1 came out and they introduced Ferox taming, all consecutive released dinos have a complicated taming method lol
Well maewings came out with Gen2 and are simple KO tames, but yeah I think every other new creature has had its own special taming method.

I used baby boss rex and asc shotgun. One time feed to ride. I got two high lvls m & f on Lost island. On on the beach , by the north wyv cave entrance. Didn't know about rage meter parts. Eze peze in snow biome. Amargasaurus, yuts, rhinos, mammoths etc. Not taming anymore tho lol dropping in cloners for 5k poly lol

I found it eazyer to do stage one without a trap, even on foot it kept bugging out on me, so i just dragged a rhino to him, you have more then enough time to get away as he sniffs and eats it
Same here; tek armor to dash away helps a ton with that.

for the gen 2 map you show at 0:36.... it's not showing the r-giga spawn locations which is where i've been taming all mine

Bruh I’ve been playing the story maps in somewhat correct order and right when the carchar came out I was doing scorched, I beat it but there were no spawns so I couldn’t tame It, then I play aberration and there’s NO SPAWNS. my next map will be the island so finally, I will be able to tame this beast. All I have to do is beat the hardest map in the game. 😅
I’ve done multiple Dinowipes after taming my first one and still haven’t had one respawn on ragnarok singleplayer.

anyone know why after the patch adding Charchar I don't have any drops or any nests with eggs do not spawn? is there any way to fix this or do i have to wait for the wildcard move?

I wish I could tame this right now, but since my Fjordur map is broken with no Gigas, Carchars or loot drops spawning, it has kind of deterred me from playing this map. (p.s ; i am playing on Xbox on a single-player world, so if anyone knows how to fix this, that would be much appreciated.)

Ask captain if he has repurpused his Rex trap and made it metal in theory all he would have to do is raise it one pillar and make it metal at most for the char
You could also technically use rare flowers to bring the dinos to you so if done right you technically wouldn't have to let it out of the trap in the process
I can't be bothered to tame this thing. It's over complicated and what exactly am I supposed to do with it? All the maps have been released, everything's been defeated, and I can do everything with my current dinos.
Sadly this is bugged for me on official, I trapped and brought dead corpses over and he’s sniff them, but never eat… he wouldn’t even bite or aggro or anything just lock and freeze up, by the time I untrapped it some idiot killed it on my server.. carch plz get a fix

Idk what you mean? after you kill 100 dinos he kick you off then you wait till hes not aggro to anything and then you just feed him another baby, same if he not kick you off but timer run out..

i need to know, anyone else having trouble related to their AI?? because it seems that a oyster is smarter than the carchas. I drag the dead corpses to them, they do the sniffing animation, an then they start to circle around the corpse and stay there, i honestly dont kniw what to do, and im starting to be really anoyed by this

Did anyone encounter a situation when a trapped carcha was sniffing the dead thing and not eating it? Cause I did and it's very annoying, no idea what's causing it and how to fix it. I had to release the thing and feed it outside the trap.
I have had the same issue; sometimes leaving render & coming back would fix it, sometimes it would not. Letting it out of the trap seemed to work.
