    These lyrics are mad clever.
    These dance are mad cute.
    These musicians are mad tallented.
These Babymetal are just doing what Babymetal do.
10 years on, and I'm still listening to the same 3 albums. Am I trapped?
    Does it really matter?
As long as I can remember Yui dancing, I'll be forever happy.

I agree, BABYMETAL is a band that makes me very happy, and this song in particular. Although the lyrics might not be very positive (I have no idea, to be honest), the music puts me in a great mood. And it's one of the songs that no other band could give us but BABYMETAL.

I love this song because I love the SKA genre. YAVA fuses SKA and Metal. Very underrated song cos, not many reactors react to this. Some in the Metal community didn't even knew that the SKA genre existed unless you listen to No Doubt and other bands that play the SKA genre. The Kami Band is brilliant and brutal. Enjoy your reaction. Thanks for reacting to this. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬

I love how all I could think of was Sublime and Pepper and completely forgot about No Doubt when listing ska bands I listened to hahaha. Glad you enjoyed the reaction! That's pretty surprising that most metal fans don't know Ska, I thought it was a pretty widely known genre.

This is my favorite song. Btw, I am a middle aged Japanese. The word "YAVA (yava-i, yaba-i, やばい、ヤバイ、ヤバい・・)" is originally a word that Yakuza, the Japanese mafia, uses. It means bad situation, or bad luck, and so on. So this is a slang and dirty word and in old days parents taught their kids, including me, don't use that word. However recently young generations in Japan, even teenage girls like to use this word. Now the meanings change further, they use the word as awesome, cool, surprised, delicious, and so on. We can find Su- or Moa also Have used this word in their talking in SAKURA GAKUIN period. I think this song title is used as old meaning. They have sung teenage girl's anxious emotions, or identity crisis of their youth period. It is a kind of about differences about sense of feeling or appearance from other girls . But It might be unique feelings only in Japan. I also love the development that starts lightly with the rhythm of Ska, and goes dark or heavy from the break down part, getting along with serious lyrics going. Thank you from Japan.

What a relief! I thought you couldn't upload this one.
YAVA! is very nice catchy ska-metal song, many fan girls like it. YAVA! means like "Oh no!" is like an expresión of surprise or terrifying.
Fans first want to name the song as "Chigau" but that didn't happened.
Kami Band intro is one of the very few, you can hear Míkio-sama guitar solo here, R.I.P.
Every musician is top notch, drummer Hideki Aoyama is son of another legend, all of them transform into Kami Band the moment they go to performance with the girls, is like a switch inside of them, same for the girls of course. 🦊🤘
Till next time, beautiful megitsune ❤️

@@gombers You never know, they will probably come back around to it again. There's a finite number of possibilities when it comes to musical genres and sub-genres. Thinking about it, I just realized that includes classical music. Classical music put to heavy rock, if done well, is absolutely sick. I think I just realized I need classical BABYMETAL in my life, but I digress, they will probably come back to it at some point depending on how long they keep going for, which I hope is another decade, but we shall see.

    ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤔
The official lyric is "ヤバッ!" (Yaba!), which is a clipped form of "yabai".
Originally, "yabai" meant "dangerous", but in this song and popular usage, it is also used as an exclamation.
"Oh no!" is a pretty good equivalent in English.
Aside from the solos from Su, 'YAVA!' is my favorite track from the Metal Resistance album.
And some of my favorite BABYMETAL choreography.
There are groups that have spent years trying to make thick sludgy ska metal sound good, and BABYMETAL pulls it off the first time.
I would have done a whole album like that, but they moved on to the next thing. : )
Even with the translation it's hard to know exactly what this song is about.
Something about making choices when things seem similar.
Or insisting that differences, even small ones, are important and make things vital and interesting.
There's a tendency in Japanese culture to smooth over differences for the sake of collective harmony.
That has both positive and negative consequences.
This song was written by some of the same folks involved with 'Megitsune', etc.

    • @gombers
      @gombers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I would have loooooved a whole album like this. They did this fusion genre so well. Yeah I really liked that the lyrics are so vague and ambiguous though, makes for a lot of discussion or just all together accepting that this song is a bop and let's all skank around lmao

Fantastic song and reaction! Plus you chose a great performance of it. My take on the lyrics as a westerner from the U.S. is the first time through I thought it was a song about them and how people perceive them on first listen. I believe Yava came out after their first world tour. "They are different, what do I think and feel and do about this? "Then I can see how in our current socio-political situation, that this is someone responding to a changing world of gender identification. This song would be a hit with the LGBTQ+ community. It also makes me wonder as a former theatre (yes, 're' not 'er') major why burlesque's and drag shows don't do BM. Great music/look/choreography/style beyond! Great reaction again; be cool and awesome this memorial day! (I'll be working doubles...)

    • @arbalestt4590
      @arbalestt4590 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's just too far. This is just they take about people that weren't able to differentiate between which Moa and Yui on stage.
      "Any of them are alike.
      Everybody says so,
but they are in some way a little different, aren't they?"
Some also confused about MoiMoi position during certain song because they role changed over years. Ex: in Uki2 midnight Yui used to be on our left while later changed to right.
" I can't stop caring about it. What should I do?
Which side is that on? Which side is this on?
      Paarira paarira paarirarira. "

@@arbalestt4590 I can see your point. This was just my initial response on hearing for the first time with the lyrics and choreography. I don't mean to make anyone mad; just thoughts on a song. Bless you, @arbalest T!

I think this song is about having different opinions, being not a conformist, standing out and forging your own personality, which is the main challenge for every teenager, but even more so in Japan.
And that can also well be a self reference.
Even though it may sound a light funny song, to me it definitely belongs to the Dark Side as there's really a struggle going on on stage between SU, who represents the individual and M&Y, who are a society that doesn't like things out of the box.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Andrew Hartley has the same feelings about this gem.

I personally think the lyrics describe the situation as if the musician was struggling while composing music.
People say don't worry about song (sound, melody) , they're all the same. The musician says, NO, something is different. Should this be a melody like this, or should it be a melody like that? To the musician, all the small differences sound completely different.
All of them are so different that musician has trouble composing and has a hard time finding the answer. The artist noticed something different or wrong about the song he wrote. The artist can't sleep today or tomorrow , so Oh no!(YAVA!) The inside of his or her head is full rotation. 'PI-PO-PA-PO-PI'.. This may be representation that the computer is processing. It is his or her inside of brain.
    Something like that...
Japanese "CHIGAU"= ‘ different ’ is a literal translation. It has meaning ‘wrong’ too. The meaning changes depending on the context.
It may be more natural to translate in the following sense.
    ’I do not like it’
’This is not what I'm looking for’
’This is not what I want’
    ’It's wrong’
    'Not this!' etc.
Unfortunately, This live was a concert that YUI's performance was the worst of all the BABYMETAL concerts I've seen. She may had problems with her physical condition around this time. I just want to say that her ability is actually better than that and thank you to YUI for entertaining the fans in even difficult situations.
If you have a chance, Please also check out YAVA, which was performed between 2015 and 2016 someday. For example, WEMBLEY 2016, TOKYO DOME 2016, YOKOAHAMA 2015.
    Have a nice vacation !

BOH has a 6 string bass, Ohmura plays a 7 string guitar and I bet their amps go up to 11.
I put YAVA (translated as OMG or Oh No) together with Awadama Fever as I think they are both about difference and not necessarily being confined by other people's expectations. The YAVA lyrics mention "different" over 20 times. Is it about Babymetal and their music being different, Moa and Yui being different even though people seem to think they are twins or just about clothes?...who knows? What it is, is some up tempo metal/ska and a lot of fun with some great choreography and a really heavy breakdown. The Kami intro takes the song over the top and I'm always ready for a bit of ska.
