This channel should have like 250k+ subs by now. These two are fun to watch and it seems more real and down to earth than most sailing channels are. Plus it's nice to listen to Alie's voice on their voiceover.
I was there for 6 weeks with my gitl friend in 1982. It has changed soooo much. So glad to see it in 2023. The huts were very inexpensive, $15 night in 1982. Only electricity there was a generator for 4 hours a afternoon. Only way in or out was a boat or horseback. Thank you fir sharing this ...
My cousin has a huge Grand Banks. One day at a restaurant I over heard a family making fun of them in there tiny little boat, not realizing of course that they were riding they’re dingy into the dock. It was a cute conversation.
Very wise choice not overnighting at Yalapa overnight on a ball with no stern anchor. Day breeze drops and boat turn sideways to swell and a throwing match between port and starboard side stuff ensues. Bin there done that.
Also loving this episode Alie. Visited Yelapa many years ago. Took the boat tour from PVA and some day like to return. I know about the rolling waves in the bay. You should have visited the water falls. Not life changing, but beautiful jungle setting. I am loving experiencing my missed vacation through your eyes. Thanks for taking us all with you. Looking forward to your next adventure. Until then, be happy, be safe, and almost all the snow is gone in Toronto. I thought you might like to know. 😊❤😂
You guys are great.... seriously!!! Love the humour, the humility, and the honesty you put across. You'll be breaking 100k in no time... sky's the limit for Breaking waves. We're heading down from Vancouver to PV and Bucerias for the month of May.... are you guys gonna be around?
Hey Don! Thanks for the nice message! The short answer is, not sure yet. We are planning to head south for a bit, and tie the boat up and do a road/surf trip. We might be back to PV later in May but our plans seems to be constantly changing haha.
We stopped at Yalapa first before going to PV, and getting a mooring was ridiculous and so annoying. One person was going to charge us $20, until the person who ACTUALLY managed the mooring showed up and charged us $5. It was a mash up of mistrust and getting conned. Thankfully the person we were with knew the drill ahead of time and wasn’t taking none of the BS. I guess something to expect when entering the wild southwest.
Haven't been there in years but gonna be in sailing round the bay in 2 months. Excited!!! Had some super crazy shit go down while in Yelapa bit it is such an amazing place. Definitely go back. Go Paragliding!! That river is so close to Garcias now
We are going to do a video specific on this topic.. it's definitely pretty sweet but also a lot more challenging then you might think (especially if you plan to be sailing a boat at the same Time)
Thanks again for the video, I'm wondering if you've done a video and talked about the pro/cons for the Starlink? If so please point me in the direction of that. We're cruising the San Juan Island and BC and we're just about to pull the tiger on getting a Starlink Roam for cruising the PNW. We'd be very interested in how it's been working for you? Hopefully highlighting on, are you able to use while actually underway? Do you maintain connectivity while swinging around the hook at anchor? I've been reading recently that just within the past year or so there's a difference between the roam and in motion. Which they are saying Roam has to be land use only but if you are near shore cruising, I don't see that it should make a difference, especially if you are still in the coverage area. Any pointers or links you can share would be awesome. TY.
Hey! We haven't done a video like that yet but happy to share here. Let Me preface this with things are always changing with Starlink. First it was portability, then it was RV, now it's roam, regardless of what the stated rules are about how and where you can use it, it seems to just work, everywhere, in most conditions. Soem of our friends that jsut left Mexico to cross the South Pacific are a week to sea and still getting regular Starlink updates (they wouod be on the RV plan). We even heard of a boat that hit a whale and sunk in 15 minutes but we're able to coordiante their rescue with a buddy boat over text message using Starlink. I'd say generally it works reliably, whether underway or on the hook, with the only exception being says where you swing around a lot - but if you disable the motors and point it straight up that solves that issue. We are currently Motoring at 6 knots and streaming music and sending this message! Perhaps that will change witb the roam plan, but I doubt it. The unit draws about 9-10 amps continuously when on. Overall highly recommend it, it's a total game changer.. hopefully it stays that way!
@@BreakingWavesSailing Awesome reply, the fact that you were responding while underway at 6 kts, is the answer I was hoping to hear. Enjoy your adventures in Mexico. We spent several seasons there on our Morgan Out Island after sailing it down the coast too. The heat and humidity was to much for this PNW guy, so we've got a 42ft Trawler in Blaine WA (a.k.a. home) and are ready to get into the inside passage this summer. Here's a link to our little video page. We do it just so our friends and family can keep an eye on us. We're just having fun with it, not a $$ maker. th-cam.com/channels/TaQ6woB0gHgE9IjPF9YL5w.html Anyhow we'll be keeping an eye on you and hopefully share an anchorage with you when and if you ever return north. P.S. we need more screen time for the Golden. They are our favorite dogs in the whole world!!! Stay Safe.
I don't want to ever forget that you are working while making these videos. Taking us along, filming, editing and making plans for all of that. I know I have thanked you before, but I want to do it again now. That little village looked like it was hacked out of the jungle. Don't venture to far off the path. 🙂❤

Thanks Veal! Means a lot :) sometimes we get a bit down when views drop and channel growth stagnents but comments like this keeps us going!!

@BreakingWavesSailing well have fun and holler back if you'd like me to bring anything down with us for you guys!

Yah sounds about right.. they do $20/day and if you stay the night another $20!!

I’m just glad you didn’t leave your shoes on the beach 😅
I wish I could find a work from home job - I’d happily do it from anywhere
