Hi Amber, I am April and I am about to join the ostomate club!! Thank you for your channel, I am binge watching now. Thankfully, my surgery is not emergency and I have spoken to my dermatologist about how to get my skin in the best condition possible before surgery. I am 59 so my skin is declining with age. I am also finding as many ostomates on TH-cam as I can so that I can learn and be as prepared as possible. Sending you gratitude from Atlanta GA.

I want to let you know I know it’s been a long time since you did a video and you’re probably not into it anymore but your videos out of all of them were really good for me in every way and the vegan ostomy. I hope you post again sometime I really really do.

I had 24 hours to wrap my head around having a stoma (2 weeks ago).
I love your bright outlook and encouragement in your videos ❤️
Its a bit of a scary ride at first so finding someone that makes you feel its all going to be ok is so important. Thank you and God bless you!!

I have been following you for over a month now I am a little nervous about having my Ileostomy done on June 27th, but I will say you have made things a little less to be nervous about because of your video's so thank you.

Hope you had an amazing summer, Amber!!!!! This is my first summer with my ileostomy and it hasn't slowed me down at ALL. I spent the day at Disney World yesterday, no issues at all, but of course I took care to drink lots of Drip Drop!

Great video, I will definitely look into those liquid IV products, because I play golf a lot and live in South Carolina, so I am constantly dehydrated. Keep smiling, enjoy your summer.

Great advice. I’m in Georgia. I totally understand. It’s happened to me as well. Never leave ostomy supplies in car. (21 yrs with ostomy)

Now that I'm well enough to travel again (because my ostomy was a life saver!), I'll be driving cross country for business and to visit family and friends starting next month. These tips may make a big difference. Thank you, and God bless you for helping so many others! 💖

*Hi y'all! Wanted to share a kit-suggestion for folks who haven't put one together yet.
*My sister brought me a travel pack for toiletries and cosmetics. It's nice looking, has loads of pouches and zippered sections, and opens up to hang on a bathroom stall hook, or on the bar of my headrest, when I have to drain or change my pouch system, in my backseat. I take it everywhere and it hangs in my bathroom when I'm home. It's waterproof, easily cleaned and when it's all closed up is lightweight and easy to carry.
*It holds three sets of changes, plus a water bottle (for pouch rinsing), deodorizing lubricant, a roll of small, heavy-duty waste bags (that come with each set of Sensura Mio pouches) paste, wax rings, expanders, wet wipes and air freshener, panty liners, and sn undies change (in event the pouch springs a leak).
*One of the best gifts I've ever received and got it on eBay for under $20 with free shipping. 👍☺️

Thank you so much. I have had my ileostomy for a year and your videos are so positive. You make me feel like I can do anything. I too was a prisoner to my bathroom before surgery. I am so thankful for my "Winnie". I haven't been able to do too many veggies or fruit. How did you start adding them in your diet?
Can we eat black pitted olives? Can I eat uncooked fruit? I know I can't do the skins. Hope you have an amazing summer. You are a blessing

I've only had my ileostomy 2 months, and have been able to eat fresh papaya , watermelon, and golden kiwis (only the flesh part, not the seeds in the center). I cut them small, eat only a little, chew well, and drink after. I've had no problems and it's great to get something fresh! I wasn't able to eat these before surgery without getting really sick.

Sure seal stickers are essential! They keep the flange waterproof and help prevent the flange from sweating off

Thank you for this! I just received my ostomy in October 2022 and I have been nervous for the summer. I’m most worried about how my skin under my flange will be in the heat and if the heat will cause leaks. We have had a few really hot days recently where I live. One of the hotter days that reached 90 degrees I thankfully did well! I drank a gallon and a half of water and several drip drops that day! I’m staying hopeful!

Mrs Amber, given that an ileostomy causes absorption problems and related complications, do you take any supplements, or medications for your ileum?

Hi there! As a new ostomite I'm still searching for a bag that works for me (the struggle is real)
I'm finding the 2 piece Hollister system to be the most convenient but have a question. Do you know if a bigger flange fits any flatter than a smaller one? I'm using a 2 1/4 right now but find that it is quite noticeable, I wonder if the bigger flange would sit a bit flatter as it contours a bit more to my body? Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

you can donate them to a homeless shelter, your home care nurse, if you know who that is or if you even had one, or the wound care clinic where you got your surgery :) they told me they always appreciate extra supplies.

Camping!!??? My main issue, is finding a bathroom, that accommodates emergency situations and leaks. Ive had a stoma for almost a year now. And too many public mishaps to count. Not enough privacy, if u need to rinse out a bag. 😢
