It was an amazing day Ian. Thanks for taking time to chat with myself and my wife to be. She's not massively into cars but thoroughly enjoyed your inclusive event
I had a bit of FOMO last week, as im on the other side of the world and thought we would all miss out on the action. boy was i wrong.. Huge pat on the back and a well done to all involved organising Rustival! absolutely marvelous.. and a huge thanks to all the other youtubers who posted excellent videos. what an magnificent day. hopefully the first of many more in the future... huge congratulations! For me i have to say, the 2 stand out cars of the day (as a youtube viewer) were the Silver Granada Estate and the blue Volvo 144. but so many other wonderful machines! Thanks again to all involved for so many hours of awsome viewing!
I am so old that at some stage in my life most of these were regular street furniture and were seen just driving about - indeed I have owned a few - so I can sit back with a warm glow knowing I lived a life in great automotive times.
What an absolutely massive feat of achievement! I just wish I had been able to attend this auspicious event and wish you and the Rustival team all the best for the future. Massive thanks for sharing. Well done Ian, Carly, Matt & Steph for creating this amazing event.
That's me and my Austin A40 Farina, there with the WDSC! What an amazing show Rustival was! Hats off to everyone involved - not just the big names, but also the countless people behind the scenes that helped to keep such a massive event running so smoothly. I wish I'd had the chance to say hi to you Ian, but there was just so much to see and not enough time in the day to have a look at it all!
Great day, just wish I hadn't left it so late to book the day off work, as otherwise I may well have brought the Super National along. But I did very briefly appear in the background of your video when I was chatting to the owner of the Chevrolet Caprice, what an amazing car that is! I also couldn't believe how many Citroën Visas came along, I've previously owned two of them myself and they were rare then (mine were both 652cc flat twins too). I even managed to bump into a former housemate from when I lived in London 23 years ago, who I didn't realise was a Hubnut fan! Well done to all involved in organising this event, I shall definitely come to the next one if it happens again.
Ive been to a lot of car shows but none as inclusive as rustival, the hard work from you karlie steff & and Matt paid off a huge thank you. On top of that the sausage bap wasn't bad either from the farmhouse kitchen 😊
It was a brilliant show and I had several long conversations with some very friendly people, including the trials Robin man. My favourite car was the Rover P4 with very patinated paint and an astonishingly well cared for engine bay. Must’ve spent many hours working on that.
It really was a fantastic day and I enjoyed every minute of it.. Thank you and Miss Hubnut for having your pics taken with me and even briefly chating to you.. It's always great when people you've been watching on a screen for many years prove to be just as great in Person.. Loads of fantastic Cars, almost made me kind of jealous in a way. ;D, But it was great meeting You, Furious Driving and Steph and many more... Thank you all for a brilliant day and I definetely hope to be back for the next one. :)
It was a great day Ian, well done to you and Carly along with Matt and Steph for organising a great show. Spotted my car behind that Celica cabriolet. Good variety of cars featured.
Spotted me and the hounds at 5min45sec…. The big fella with the tattooed head, in the flying jacket with the lurcher, Jack Russell and the pug…… Diego gave my three a good telling off at the merch stall…..even though he couldn’t see them! 😆😆❤️
What a fantastic show! Would have loved to attend, but your video was the next best thing. I loved the Citroën GS van; never knew they were made! Spare a thought for the maintenance bods, a complex vehicle to work on, and vans tend to be abused! My favourite car, apart from Betty? All of them!
I think the 20s are a learning and experimental time of most people's lives. You're still figuring things out. I felt much more secure in myself by the time I got to my 30s. You never stop learning as you go through life. Keep doing what you do!
Got really excited when Ian said "an LDV Convoy" but was stumped for a while when only 1 van rolled through shoot. Then I remembered that it was the van model name not a literal convoy of vans. Been a long day is my excuse.
A fantastic day you should be proud of what you’ve achieved! Cracking venue as well - I’ve needed an excuse to go to the museum for ages, and Rustival worked out perfectly. My car was the AX next to Lincoln, I think I could’ve fit it in the boot. Followed the Lincoln in to the show - what a sound!
Fantastic event, enjoyed every minute, even though I had work at 6pm and was exhausted by midnight. Hopefully there'll be more of them, as I've now set myself a target of finishing one or more of my projects so I can go in one of those.
Such a perfect event. I realise that you cannot possibly have the time and energy to do the whole thing justice, frustratingly as a punter but exponentially as a well known and loved organiser! Until the next one ❤
It was a fantastic day, it's amazing the number of cars, I never managed to catch myself , Rover, Volvo and the Morris Minors were well represented from what I seen on the day. Spotted myself being filmed for Mark on Motoring, I did see you whizzing round as that was happening.
Hi Ian/Carly thanks for the message shame I missed rustival hope you had a great day looked it. I spotted upgraded 1988 5 speed 1800 cordia turbo white e424ykk nice car lived in Wales.danny from practical classics asked me for details of the car and pics. Take care Mick.
Looks fantastic! I was stuck up the road in Coventry hastily replacing air suspension on a drooping Mercedes. You may have heard the cursing from there 😋 At least it now stays up 👍 Very glad it went well
Wow what a great turnout. The BMM (was the Heritage centre) at Gaydon is such a great place for these kind of shows. I used to work next door at JLR. Will make to to some shows hopefully this year. thanks for sharing Ian so many great classics
Shout out also to the venue, was a superb choice. My humble suggestion would be to repeat every 2 years. Thanks for a great concept and great organisation and comms too.
Amazing day from the minute I walked in, thanks for hosting, Carly for friendshipping, Hublets for merch-ing, fabulous people and cars from the minute we arrived. Can't wait for the next social 😀
Well done for helping organise such a great show Ian and many thanks for posting the video of it. I've really enjoyed it. All the best for next years show. 😊👍
So great to see all those cars, many of which I have owned in the past, a real trip down memory lane, pity I didn't see a Peugeot 505 or 605. Couldn't make the show but this was the next best thing, that Ian / Carly
American pedant here. 23:53 As late as the mid80s model names were still more like today's trim levels on the full-size Chevrolets. This '69 is most likely a Biscayne (the lowest trim that year) due to the lack of details implying Caprice's vinyl top and a lack of badge between the front wheel well and the door. Allegedly sporty Impalas and properly posh Caprices proudly wore their badge. Biscaynes also had four tail lights instead of six on the upmarket models. Edit: Your correspondent now knows, In actual fact, there was still a BelAir in 1969; legendary in the 50s but by '69 the second lowest trim. With the four tail lights, and badged on the fender.
Well done all involved. I have a feeling you're on to something pretty special with this show. Dare I say you may even have to do 2 next year to cover the country.
Aww, the Myrtle replica. :D BXs are always great to see, haven't seen one in years, here in Finland. The Cavalier III/Vectra A is one of those cars that have aged so damn well. Brilliant show! Wish I had the means to get there.
A 'Did You Know' moment appeared with the first entry, an Austin 7. In 1928, it was the first motorized vehicle to reach Cape York peninsula - and return. The same car went on, shortly after, to complete a tour around the two main islands of NZ. Unfortunately, while aboard a freighter to the US - to carry on Austin durability - the ship foundered and was lost somewhere in the South Pacific
Lest it is forgotten, there were many, many more than worthy vehicles parked in the visitors' car park that deserved to be on show - presumably because their owners could not get exhibitors' tickets - I'd hate to think that they were misdirected. What a fantastic show this was. Great to meet friends and natter for the first time in ages, as well as meet new in the real world at last - this one talks too much! Simply, congratulations to all.
@@HubNut - no bad thing either, Ian👍 A huge success not only in numbers, but in the atmosphere that with such events should be held - similar to events that we at Great Western Saabs, on a smaller scale of course, have made possible and hosted for the last 20 odd years - social, informal, dip in, dip out, activities for young and old, oh, there'll be cars there of not just the Swedish variety, and friends for life made. Congratulations, once again!
Spoted myself near the collections center and my car that just at the edge of a film when u where in Mayfair it was a great day i enjoyed it hears to the next one
Well i think it's time i pulled my finger out & start coming to these shows, I've watched many many of your "any car" goes video & never seen my model of car in amongst them,,,so time for me to start the citroen c4 Picasso & grand Picasso 1st & 2nd generations representations, which is strange because they are such a popular car on the roads!

The roads were a wash with all these vehicles from the show as we saw the white Fiat 127, various classic Fords, Volvo's, a metallic orange Daewoo Matiz and the Citroën BX GT sailed past us on the M42. Hey, it’s me on 00:54 in the blue focus!
It’s was a fabulous day and really enjoyed it. The car show where people come first. Roll on next year!
