    A very informative and well rounded review thank you. I’m in the UK where this is currently retailing for £279, which is tempting for my kids who use the Google ecosystem at school.

    I just picked up the HP 14 x360 Chromebook plus on sale for like 379$ and it's an incredible value. Build and keyboard is top notch. So is performance with the 12th gen i3. Chromebooks have come a long way. Really good black Friday sales

    I hope the plus features come for Chromeboxes that fit the requirements. I got a great deal on an Asus Chromebox 3 with an i7 and 16GB of RAM as my daily driver and I don't want to touch anything else after using it.

    I'm returning it after one day. I use it on my lap. In addition to generating heat, it also has a very uncomfortable bottom edge on the screen part. It's sharp and also has two small protrusions. This digs into your thighs, especially if you're wearing shorts.

    My understanding is that the chromebook plus "perks" will also be coming to other machines not necessarily designated as plus, but meeting the hardware requirements. Any idea if this is true and, if so, when it might be expected?

      You need Linux env enabled on your Chromebook which gives you Debian 11 on kernel 6.1. You can literally do anything that you could on a Linux machine with the added benefit of fully backing up your env. You can do android dev work. The only thing you can't do is iOS native dev work which requires an Apple machine.

    As long as I could use Power User Softwares such as Adobe and AutoCAD on a stable platform I'd love to own a Chromebook plus laptop. And I do imagine many people will be loving the concept too. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾. A touchscreen will be really nice to have on a high end Chromebook. An AI generative Chromebook? Now this sound like some serious competition for Microsoft. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾

  • @justmoch8985
    @justmoch8985 ปีที่แล้ว

    for somehow, google is a bit late to develop their hardware division, especially computer-like.
    while on the other hand, they already had android system for I can’t even recall how long.
    but I guess better late than never.
    now the customers can go over other preferences other than microsoft ecosystem or apple ecosystem.
    if samsung also can build their One UI OS to become their main system apart from android.
    I think in 10 years, we are going to have more diverse preferences.

    Do people still use Chromebook’s? For heaven’s sake, why? What’s next - netbooks?

    • @shanecraigtech
      @shanecraigtech  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I mean, you could watch the video? I'll answer it in short anyways though. Why do people use Chromebooks? For one, they are extremely fast. No viruses, Android apps work really quite well, phone hub links your phone in natively, a lot of them are relatively inexpensive and they make a really nice addition to an Android users ecosystem.
      Comparing them to netbooks sort of indicates to me that you've maybe never used one or maybe the last time you used one was a really long time ago.

    • @OleHippy
      @OleHippy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shanecraigtech Had a Verizon netbook in the late 80s which was one step short of useless. Then in 2011 bought a lovely looking orange HP Chromebook, which also was useless. Mostly application and OS shortcomings as I recall. Also lived in two school districts that went all in on Chromebooks but they didn’t end well. Me, personally, I never found them easy to use versus Macs or PCs. I’ve tended to consider them the bottom feeders of computing. And, yes, I watched you but don’t agree.
