@bobbydazzler8620 997 is the sweet spot for 911 I think. I'd always have a gt3 over the rs mainly for daily usability but saying that I'm not in a position to buy either haha,
It makes sense. The GT3 RS is a track car. If you took it to the track every other weekend, you'd never consider replacing it with the S/T, even a GT3 manual would be a better option. But for the road? Hands down, the S/T is the dream. I'd buy it with the comfy seats, no roll cage, and black-on-black or black with a fun exterior color and drive the hell out of it.
I'd take the S/T over the 3RS any day! These newer cars, for years now have no flex in the adhesive that holds the windscreen to the chassis/frame. It cracks much easier this way. Windscreen glass is actually fairly strong but all glass needs to be able to flex to prevent breakage.

Windscreen cracked on yiannii,s Lamborghini reveulto plus I know of 2 M3 tourings that cracked both had under a 1000 miles on the clock, maybe the chassis is too stiff or more than likely the materials they use are not up to the job
The tendency to tram line, or follow changes in road surface camber, is probably NOT inherent in the ST just because it's an ST. The biggest factor will simply be the front end toe setting. In other words, you can dial that tendency up or down in either car.
gt3rs is an unbelievable track weapon... having never driven one but according to stuff I heard on TH-cam its only that. it is a magnificent piece of machinery if you are towing it from one track or another. but most of enjoyment you get from a car is more that track days. its being able to take it on a road trip, being able to actually drive it to a track day and not regretting it... that's why I believe the sweet spot on the 992 line up is not the 3rs, not the gt3 or even the turbo s... I believe it's the new gts.
When Mat test-drove the S/T when it debuted, It was clear that his mind was turning. It's the daily driver version of the RS. If I lived near a track like Limerock or the Nurburgring, I'd take the GT3RS. But if 98% of your driving involves motorways, b-roads, S/T.
Both cars are great. Since I would not take it to track very much I think I would get more use and fun out of the S/T. The trunk space and manual would help make up my mind. Big wing on the road is a bit pretentious also. In terms of color and interior the S/T was specked better but discounting that still S/T all day long unless I was a track rat.
I heard that's quite common for GT3 cars. One TH-camr said he needs to replace the windscreen regular. Probably because the glas is thin and you drive fast with the car, so stones make more damage. Especially if you have another fast car in front of you. (Like in this video)
The crack in the glass seems common in modern supercars. I believe it due to a combination of the firm ride and the tension of how the glass (which is possibly thinner on the RS) is fitted. Seen it on McLarens and didn't it happen on Yianni's Lamborghini?
This is why Im keeping my 992 GT3 with the 6 speed manual. Drives better than the S/T with the 4 wheel steering and has a Frunk unlike the GT3RS. On public roads its all about the manual... even though the PDK is quicker on the track.
I hear Amazon wants to continue the grand tour with new presenters, Matt, yianni and racing driver Sam would be a fantastic trio to takeover! Make it happen Amazon! 😂
I like how everything developed in terms of porsches: At first the world went crazy when the new GT3RS was released however many people realised all they wanted is right there and so the S/T was the new object of desire
A road trip of Sam and Mat, just what the doctor ordered I loved the GT3 vs Turbo S one and I have been looking forward to something similar ever since. Next time do a comparison test of different cars cos this is the 3rd 911 trip already including the one in France.
Gt3rs of 992 generation is pointless for anything except flex or track. ST will keep value very well, best middle ground is regular GT3 or touring. Best value porsche rn is 991.1 gts NA 2wd
Hi,your RS3. Cracked screen, if you manage to have a small stone impact close to the black screen edging. Screen will crack, no give in screen close to the edge. You quit often get away with just a chip when impacted in the centre of the screen
Both look great but the RS has more presence. But if I could wish for something it would be that the RS wing could be taken off semi easy and that Porsche would have a button that activates a handling tune made with the wing off!!
Right at the end...the final decision for which car you would own boils down to ease of usability and diversity. Running around in a hard focused car on a daily basis is sometimes tiring. Been there. Many times.
Maybe its just the kid in me but I love how crazy the RS looks over the simpleness of the S/T. The S/T is classically beautiful but the aggressive kit of the RS is just awesome. Plus, its not like its all just fake cause it actually gives the car way more downforce. Sure, that doesn't matter to the normal person but I like track days so having the RS for normal days and also being able to take to the track is really nice. S/T is nice but i'd take the RS.
It is a stone chip. The tiny white dot along the crack is it. The glass is very ridged at the edge due to the glue being behind it and the smallest of impacts can do that.
The ideia of a lie detector is great and very funny...We often lie to ourselfes as one Aikido trainer used to say as he always urged us to give our best in the tatami!
I would love to try a new GT3. I sold my 992 C2S for a new C8 Z06. The Corvette is so much more exciting with the 8600 rpm LT6. Makes the 3.0 TT in the 992 seem like a paperweight. I suspect the 4.0 GT3 engine would fix that.
They are both beautiful. One is more functional for everyday use, and that is a reality. The only thing wrong with the GT3, is that horrible wrap you put on it. The shiny paint on the other one, is great.
Most people will be much better off with the ST. The GT3 RS is a track car and requires you being able to drive, it is likely why we so many being crashed. The RS looks much better, it's one of the most aggressive cars on the road. A larger percentage of the cars life will be held on the road. To enjoy the Porsche GT3RS you have to be right on the limit and at a much higher speed, the ST you will be getting close to 100% of it's limitations which you can get to on a public road. Really they are aimed at two different kind of drivers. The ST reminds me of the same qualities in a Mazda MX5, it's pure driving without any interference. It comes down to where will you be using the car the most and what you want out of the car. Gonna throw a curve ball n say i think it'd prefer a 911 Turbo s as it does all things n what is left over get a beater of a MX5.
I prefer the purpose build and designed GT3 RS. Instead of the ST I would prefer a manual air cooled 911 for road driving pleasure. I don’t like the odd mixture between nostalgic elements and new technology in the ST.

gt3rs is an unbelievable track weapon... having never driven one but according to stuff I heard on TH-cam its only that. it is a magnificent piece of machinery if you are towing it from one track or another. but most of enjoyment you get from a car is more that track days. its being able to take it on a road trip, being able to actually drive it to a track day and not regretting it... that's why I believe the sweet spot on the 992 line up is not the 3rs, not the gt3 or even the turbo s... I believe it's the new gts.
Love seeing family side of Matt!
When Mat test-drove the S/T when it debuted, It was clear that his mind was turning. It's the daily driver version of the RS. If I lived near a track like Limerock or the Nurburgring, I'd take the GT3RS. But if 98% of your driving involves motorways, b-roads, S/T.
I’d take the rs and paint match the bonnet to get rid of those big black lines
Both cars are great. Since I would not take it to track very much I think I would get more use and fun out of the S/T. The trunk space and manual would help make up my mind. Big wing on the road is a bit pretentious also. In terms of color and interior the S/T was specked better but discounting that still S/T all day long unless I was a track rat.
THIS! MORE OF THIS!
6:46 looks like a stress fracture mat, might be worth getting on to Porsche …. Same issues happen on mclarens
Ok the lie detector admitting he preferred the st was funny
So funny Mat😂
I would have the ST as well. Last of the great classic Porsche.
What a great review, well done guys.
Mark
I like how everything developed in terms of porsches: At first the world went crazy when the new GT3RS was released however many people realised all they wanted is right there and so the S/T was the new object of desire
I still remember he said he was going to have a kid in a old Porsche bmw comparison video 😢 time flies by so fast
25:06 That was hilarious 😂🤣
A road trip of Sam and Mat, just what the doctor ordered
I loved the GT3 vs Turbo S one and I have been looking forward to something similar ever since. Next time do a comparison test of different cars cos this is the 3rd 911 trip already including the one in France.
I wonder if that window crack could have anything to do with the faulty glue used in some models, even though Mat's model was not one of them.
Clearplex on these high value Sunday drivers is worth considering. Saved me having a dash out Exige S3 replacement windscreen.
Gt3rs of 992 generation is pointless for anything except flex or track. ST will keep value very well, best middle ground is regular GT3 or touring. Best value porsche rn is 991.1 gts NA 2wd
I feel like I've seen on Rennlist that cracking glass on the 992's have been an issue.
9:11, as a loving husband/partner, you are always in trouble.
The most legit video from you in a long time. We all know manual is more engaging MAT!!! lol.
Love the video, and the lie detector test.
Had our 992 GT3 glass crack while in storage. Porsche replaced it under a technical service bulletin.
I would take a base 911 Carrera in Green with heritage interior....more than fast enough for me on public roads and I don't do track days.
Would love to to drive the corvette you have a beautiful car my friend
They are both beautiful. One is more functional for everyday use, and that is a reality. The only thing wrong with the GT3, is that horrible wrap you put on it. The shiny paint on the other one, is great.
You'd need to go up to a Koenigsegg or GMA to top the ST in terms of peak manual performance car. Epic stuff
These buddy comedy road trips are great. 😂
ST please, for the same reasons as Sam. Old school cool fun and classic looks.
I’m sure I could find a better colour though.
Great video Matt, very creative. ST all day but it’s too expensive for what it is.
The lie detector test was hilarious Matt
The lie detector at the end lmao 🤣
18:14 .. Matt are wearing blue shirt same color with the ST…its already shown which he preferrs….
