The thing is Rick Martel had more success in the WWF as a face than a heel. As a face he was a 3 time WWF tag team champion. Twice with Tony Garea in 1980 & 1981 and once with Tito Santana as Strike force in 1987-88. As a heel he never won any titles.
Lot's of heels back then never won any titles or very few. Jake the Snake and Million Dollar man never did and they were far bigger stars than Martel. Rick Rude only had the IC title once. Just the way it was back then

Back then I was a huge Sabu Mark so I bought the PPV just to see him on WWF tv since where I lived ECW DIDN'T AIR. You can imagine my disappointment when he never showed.

Duggan and Crush were the only two guys replaced in 1993, by Max Moon and Terry Taylor. Everyone else including Carlos Colon were already advertised previously. Nailz, Warrior and Bulldog are on the poster, but were all gone long before they announced the PPV (the last two were gone before Survivor Series the previous Novemeber). Giant Gonzalez ended up feuding with the Undertaker because Nailz was fired, but he wasn't a participant in the Rumble match either so who knows if Nailz would've been one of the 30.

Originally, Damaja from OVW won the right to be a rumble participant but this was never announced on WWE programming and this was changed. Don't know who replaced him though. As for Bastion Booger in 1994, they had him miss his entrant to make people think it was Bret Hart unable to compete. Same with Skull in 1998 making everyone believe it was Austin who, under Jerry Lawler's rumor, he had been jumped backstage.

The replacements for the Rumble's we're always the really low end guys on the card who had no fucking chance in hell of winning the thing lol. I think they should of had Zeus as a replacement in 90 or 91 or something or try to get a surprise guy in there for some of these Rumble replacements.

On another note I actually have to say I had totally liked Crush but had totally forgotten about his. Probably because being taken out by Doink the Clown isn't a very memorable moment in the collection of epic moments that is WWE history. Not so much nowadays.
The replacements for the Rumble's we're always the really low end guys on the card who had no fucking chance in hell of winning the thing lol. I think they should of had Zeus as a replacement in 90 or 91 or something or try to get a surprise guy in there for some of these Rumble replacements.
