Ban Lead In Paint Multi-stakeholder Forum 2024

Young Volunteers for the Environment -YVE Gambia conducts a National Multistakeholder forum on the occasion of the #ILPPW2024 to learn from key health, financial, social and environmental stakeholder groups (ministry of health , The Standard Bureau , Consumer Protection Agency, Ministry of Trade , Ministry of Environment , National Assembly, Major Paint Importers , and Media among others ) and, in collaboration, to develop innovative and sustainable strategies or solutions to address some of the most pressing challenges on lead paint dangers , controls and elimination in The Gambia.
The Forum inspired key stakeholders to work together in achieving the advancement of lead paint standards, phase out and regulations in The Gambia. The core objective of the forum is to raise wider public awareness and stakeholders to bring about legislative, policy and behavioral changes in order to achieve the elimination of lead in paint in The Gambia.
The event served as a platform to discuss on gaps, lead effects and business on paint, possible strategies and plans that support policy dialogue and advocacy to better strengthen political commitment to address and integrate lead in paint phase out plans into national development frameworks.
