Anyone who learns to speak English as a 2nd, 3rd, etc. language is amazing to me. English is a difficult language to learn because none of it makes sense LOL
I teach it and have two degrees in it, and it's such a melting pot of sounds and rules with exceptions that I marvel at anyone that can speak it in any way, frankly.
It's my native language and trust me it doesn't even make sense to us :')

just thinking about how much i've appreciated the way maria admits vulnerable things and then tells us not to judge her ("no judgement" and a silly-serious look is so maria). it's really refreshing to see someone set boundaries with their audience & encourage people to think twice about what they comment on. we all need that, i know i have. the way maria does it is great; chastising, but not humiliating. i've been watching this channel (for hours and hours a week) for almost a decade. in that time i've gone from a tween to a young adult. i genuinely think some of the things i've learned from maria's channel have changed how i treat people... never realized that before

This is my favorite video by Miss Maria. It came out last year during one of the lowest and most difficult points of my life. I was trying to decide on whether I should go on or not, and the kind words Maria said helped keep me going. I teared up the first time I watched it. ASMR used to be just a nighttime relaxation routine for me. These days, however, I find that I’m watching/listening to your videos much more frequently. I have an anxiety/panic disorder and even with professional treatment/therapy, it’s been extremely difficult to control during this crazy time (not to mention being furloughed and stuck with hours and hours at home does help). So many of your videos have help me calm down, breathe, and stay present.
I loved this video a lot because I am really missing being able to be physically close to family and friends. It was so sweet when you asked how I was and reassured me you were that for me. I needed that! Plus whisper/personal attention videos are my fave!

A few years ago now, I saw an interview with Maria, discussing this "new fad called ASMR". My dad was visiting and saw it and scoffed, "What weird thing will they come up with next?" That night, I watched the towels folding video about 10 times and thus began my love for Gentlewhispers and ASMR.
That was the video that started it for me too! I turned it on in my car right after I parked and ended up sitting there for the full video in awe.

You know, Maria's mom, an engineer or designer, i dont remember exactly, taught her to use a simple pencil as a cosmetic one. In Soviet Union our mothers had not much cosmetics and not good enough. Women-engineers called make-up as "to mark coordinates". So, that's why one of Maria's pencils is so precious for her, and, besides, it has a little pre-history as a "map-maker" of the face, being a part of her [and my] Soviet childhood with our interest to our mom's cosmetics.

Because TH-cam’s algorithm is crazy. Someone who watches hair and makeup tutorials, probably was recommended this. It’s not necessarily a personal dislike, but rather a dislike for ASMR videos.
It's probably because they instantly fell asleep as soon as she spoke, so their face hit the dislike button by accident 😬😂. There is no other explanation to the dislikes..

My first experience with asmr came from my grandmother. This video reminded me of her because always walked around with a robe on and curlers. 😌 She passed away from lung cancer almost a year ago and I never really got to say goodbye because I was in the hospital. This video was very healing in a way. Thank you 💕

I live with my mum who is immunocompromised so have tried to be extra careful during the pandemic (makes it extra frustrating when we had lockdowns and I saw so many people not abiding by the rules aka. thinking beyond themselves) . I specifically came back to this video for the one on one pampering. I was literally on the brink of having an anxiety attack and minutes into just listening to your voice and watching the movements calmed me down soooooo freaking much! I could just feel the knots in my stomach melting away. Amazing things from an amazing person ❤️
🌈i love Maria and her work so much that I snuck my phone into rehab when I was getting clean and sober, just so when I was climbing the walls at night I actually got some peace. We're tired and to the point of breaking up. But we make up. He always falls asleep first, but I always stay up worrying, quietly crying at times wondering how things will turn out.
