Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!, known in Asia as Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku, is a Japanese mobile rhythm game developed by Colorful Palette, a studio of CyberAgent's Craft Egg, and published by Sega Corporation. The game is a spin-off from Sega's Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series, and features the Crypton Future Media's virtual singers Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, Kagamine Rin and Len, Meiko, and Kaito, alongside the cast of 20 original human characters that are split into five units, each with a unique theme.
Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA is a series of rhythm games created by Sega and Crypton Future Media. The series currently consists of 6 main titles, released on various PlayStation consoles, the Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, and in arcades, the 2 Project Mirai games for the Nintendo 3DS, and 4 spin-offs for mobile and VR platforms. The series primarily makes use of Vocaloids, a series of singing synthesizer software developed by the Yamaha Corporation, and the songs created using these Vocaloids, most notably the virtual-diva Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.

Haruka here! I had been waiting a lot lately that someone will compare the MV of Prsk and Project Diva and post it on yt but to no avail, I still haven't found one. So I had been impatient until I remember I also post vocaloid related on yt and I sigh and mutter "Fine, I'll do it myself" HAHAHA🤣

I love Project Sekai and I like the vocals and choreography of the MVs. But the mvs are just...stage performances. Project Diva MVs tell stories, and those stories within this mvs feel like their own worlds. PD series just hits different.
I really can't give a good example...but think of the difference of watching a stage play and a movie ( I know this sounds weird, if I can think of a better explanation I'll edit the comment).
You are right.
In a sense, PJSK stages always take place as if they're performing on a stage. When you watch a stage play or a theatre performance, there's only so much the actors and stage technicians can do to make the performance seem "real" enough in how they tell the story.
On the other hand, Project Diva though sometimes performs on stage too in some of their MVs, they also have a fair share of MVs that take place in another place akin to a movie. They have the freedom to edit and add special effects that you can only get from a movie, making everything more alive and charming.
Granted, nowadays pjsk has been improving a lot in their mvds. Also, someone has pointed out that project diva plays on console, while pjsk on mobile. It is understandable why pjsk seems more "cheap" than pd since there's already a power imbalance on how much a device can hold all the commands.
The base line is hard to even compare since there's only so much prsk can do. For a game that runs on phones and tablets, they look great, but compared to the project diva games that run on more robust hardware like handheld and home consoles, and they get blown outta the water.

The difference from pjsk is that 90% pjsk recycles the same stage and changes the colors while project diva has an entire world and tells a story and matches the song more
Even songs from Diva that reuse assets (i.e. Snow White Princess Is, Depression Cybernetics) are guaranteed to be unique.
Project DIVA's MVs just hit different. They have that feel project Sekai will NEVER capture

Project diva mvs tell more of a story and seem to match the song more. Although i do really like project skeai vocals, often nothing hits hsrder than the original
i like this because you can tell why they are so different in a way? pjsk has to stick to specific themes sometimes for it to match the groups + have maybe an underwhelming setting. i personally like pjsk’s choreo a lot more but i love diva’s visuals and effects
I actually really like some Project SEKAI MV's , even more than the Project DIVA ones , but i feel like Project DIVA MV's just have that feeling that makes them really fun.
Of course it has that beautiful feeling because it is the pv of only 1 vocaloid, not like in sekai where 5 strangers sing to you a song that only 1 singer sings

This genuinely upsets me as both a project SEKAI and DIVA player, I’m sorry if that’s not your intention but seeing so many people trash on SEKAI’S MVs when someone of them are very early year 1 MVs and also not thinking about the fact that DIVA was an arcade build/PS4 built game while SEKAI’s a mobile/table game is infuriating to me, too much even. Something like the song “MOTTO!” Is my opinion has a beautiful 3DMV for SEKAI, a lot of year 3 MVs are more developed with them playing around more with effects and cameras. SEKAI is just staring, DIVA has had years of development, just compare the first DIVA MVS to Mega Mix’s (few) new MVs like 39 Music. With time comes more experiments and colorful MVs (and of course hardware upgrades)

I would have to disagree with some of your points, Project Diva Future Tone/Megamix was on the Arcade/PC/Switch. However some of those PV's originally originated on the PSP games. Songs like Rolling girl, From Y to Y, Romeo and Cinderella and Two-Faced Lovers are from the first games and are just upscaled and ported to the newer versions. This is also for Project Mirai on the 3ds, which Sweet Magic is from as well. Now Diva does have bad PVs as well and Sekai is starting to innovate but restrictions are not the problem here (epsecially if you can emulate the PSP games on you phone) Its the game size, Project diva (PSP) is around 4.4 GB, which is still pretty big even on modern devices. Sekai just needs to implement things for performance and things to save on space.

project divas always had the better mvs but tbf it is on better hardwares. and also i see sekais mvs as just like, choreography and silly dancing, with little to no storytelling in it, while most of diva mvs prioritize the story in its mvs, while only some prioritize in dancing which is why i prefer divas more
better hardware, and honestly, I'm not willing to fork over that much space in the name of a mobile rythm game. Downloading pjsekai was already a blow to space for me

Project Diva will always be my only choice. The Project Sekai MV's have great choreography. But that's really all I can say about it. While Project Diva has amazing graphics, stories, and wonderful backgrounds. Everything about the PD MV's were magical. I may be a huge Project Diva fan, but I hope that the game franchise comes back someday. Also, I dislike how in Project Sekai it's just stage performances and how you can't have MV's of the vocaloid's solo. In general, I just prefer the vocaloids and the Project Diva MV's.

I have been playing pjsk for so long and never ever played project diva but omg theyre MV's are kinda better just a bit
I fr need to know who is tuning miku in pjsk bc GOD is it so bad, she's way too high and it sounds so out of place, its so off that it often doesn't sound like miku at all
While I personally like 'vocaloid-ish' tuning, proseka's just straight up sucks ass. It also might have something to do with the NT voicebank they use. Heard it isn't as great, but I've seen people use it really well too
@yumeseyu the harmonization of not only the vocaloids, but also the rest of the cast needs work as well. You'd think that hiring people to make songs for your game would mean they know how to tune but ig they're wrong

ok i hate to say it here but all of project diva mvs in the video is literally over 10 years old also some of them from pjdv F which is from psvita, a limited hardware device that also over 10 years old so im 100% that mobile devices can run pjdv mvs without any problems. ITS JUST BECAUSE SEGA IS TOO LAZY TO MAKE STORY MVS LIKE PJDV ON PJSK. So basically its not because of your phone sucks, its because sega is lazy thats all
Of course, modern phones are more than compatible with Project Diva's graphics and can easily handle it with some optimization. Most phones can handle heavy games like Genshin, do you think it won't be able to handle playing MVs?? They could possibly make Project Diva available on mobile platform as well if they wanted to.
@MikuMikuSanyuu I wouldn't be so sure about that. The reason why Sega doesn't give Sekai story MVs like in PJD is because Sekai is basically just your run-of-the-mill idol game that sticks to performances rather than the story of the song like in PJD. If anything, Sega was too lazy to make story MVs for Project DIVA X. Those were all performances as well, and that game predates Sekai five years.

The Project Sekai MVs look fairly good, considering it has its limitations since it's on mobile platforms.
Pjsk is more like onstage performance while Project Diva's performance is more free/has more freedom regarding the backgrounds, outfits, and effects to fit the songs (And ofc the Vocaloid tune is better in Project Diva).
I honestly like the project diva animations better but the project sekais is still really good tho

karakuri pierrot: pjdiva. the storytelling is more compelling but i do like project sekai's choreography and camerawork better. however, i like the addition of the piano in pjdiva too.
time machine: nothing ever beats project diva's mv.
hitorinbo envy: pjsekai. although this was a hard pick. i picked pjsekai's due to the cooler stage and more active choreography.

I feel like the main reason Diva 3DMVs are much more high quality is because they're an integral part of the game, you cannot disable them. But with Sekai they aren't (many people turn off the 3DMV because it's an option)
And the devices too, pjsk is on mobile while diva runs on console's and stuff. So obviously they can't do as much as diva
I wish pjsk let go of the realism sometimes and let the characters sing and dance in extravagant locations aside from just a stage

So, I've always preferred the Project DIVA PVs more. I appreciate the art style (no offense to iXima, but I prefer classic KEI) and the fact that most of the PVs before and after DIVA X had their own unique storyline, even if I'm not a fan of DIVA Tell Your World's choreography.
Edit: One more thing here that I prefer. There's also the fact that, unlike Project Sekai, Project DIVA uses the original vocals and tuning/UST/VSQX files, which is why they sound amazing.

Not gonna like project diva is more detailed, cleaner and or better quality, but less movement in a couple of the diva shows, on the other hand project sekai adds a little more movement and some more detail to the 3d shows.

I would *NOT* compare Project Diva with Project Sekai because;
• Project Diva is strictly a PS4 game that's not on mobile platforms (although I believe modern phones are more than compatible with Project Diva's graphics and can easily handle it with some optimization)
• PJSK has a whole cast of 20 human characters, often they're singing together with 5 characters (vocaloid included) at once. While Project Diva often limit singers to 2-3 and most songs have only one singer.
• Project Sekai sings the cover on a stage, they reuse the same stage with lighting and minor changes, so they add a background which resembles the original world relating to the song. But Project Diva tells a story in a completely different world based on song.
• There's no way they would be able to keep continuing releasing new outfits for characters if the MV had them doing weird movements which would result in the costume being clipped through other objects. Notice how the characters in MV *NEVER* holds hands or other area of their body? Like putting a hand on their waist, it will never touch because the model will clip through.
• While Project Diva allows for more intense movements (like sitting on car, running off stairs) without much clip throughs.
If they want to make MVs being lag-free on most phones (those with less than 4 gb RAM), they would need to be careful how intense their MVs are and also how to not make costumes or models clip through over each other. Each game is good on its own way so I wouldn't compare Project Diva with Project Sekai.
Project Sekai looks worse compared to other 3D mobile games though, such as Uma Musume.

Because I mentioned the reason their models look less detailed is so it doesn't clip through. Also, their hair doesn't have that white highlight, that might be the reason why the models looks less detailed.
I mean project diva is at most a ps Vita game with ports to PS3 and one (1) PS4 game alongside an arcade game that's also on PS4 and switch and everywhere. Also there are psp games

sometimes i feel like prsk mv and the characters in them feel really lifeless, while the project diva mvs really feel like you’re watching the vocaloid perform it
I don't care much about the mvs at this point, because prsk will never have diva's mvs, i just want proseka's clothes physics to be more like the diva's physics (arcade/swithc version)

Of course Project Diva‘s MVs are way better but PJSK couldn‘t have MVs on that level, if they try to recreate everything with those visuals for each of those groups, you would lose saving space on your phone, for an Android/IOS game PJSK is doing amazing, 4th anniversary we‘re coming and the visuals also keep improving 🫶🏼

@u_u._x If games like Miku Tap and Miku Flick, which use Project DIVA PVs, were able to run on mobile devices, why wouldn't Sega and Colorful Palette do the same for Sekai? For example, the audio for World Is Mine uses the same audio as the original Project DIVA PSP games. They could've had those PVs play in the background as a legacy thing and as an invitation to DIVA players.

I understand why project diva's 3DMV are better, than the project sekai's 3DMV, project diva's 3DMV is good at cost and doesnt lag, but expect for project sekai's 3DMV are lag, on the app when u turn on the 3DMV its very laggy and cant focus the chart and notes cause the light of the background and the quality, the quality is so high than the project diva's, im suprise at the project diva's 3dmv are surprising and amused have some cool expressions.

Actually, Arcade Future Tone came out after Diva X in 2019. Mega39's/MegaMix for the Nintendo Switch was released in 2020, with MegaMix+ releasing in 2021 on PC.

I highly prefer project diva the most and hatsune miku will always be number one. Miku is the only singer who looks best and most beautiful when she sings alone and if she is paired with another character, it doesn't look good on Miku at all! And I still love project diva hatsune miku's video the most.

@@Marslovesrainbows and you think it helped? I've seen people in this community correcting other vocaloid fans wrong information as if they know anything, and I saw someone use a project diva icon and didn't even know the game at all 💀? Project sekai overshadowed project diva, it didn't help

The good part is that many vocaloid producer can actively take part in this project and even make them more recognized by people. Some of them even return from hiatus. And the cons, which i understand your points, those new players and new people who first time enter vocaloid fandom often make false/misunderstood statement.
it is not, it actually helps a lot to find new vocaloid fans and it helps old vocaloid producer to come back to vocaloid community once again for example toa (IDSMILE, PATCHWORK STOCCATO), doriko(ROMEO & CINDERELLA, Purpose), scop(IRONY, SURESURE) and many more. pjsekai bring back old fans return to the vocaloid community
