Tweek has been having some shaky results with his only top 8 of the season so far being goml which even then was a rough 7th place thanks to a duck hunt and riddles. Beating both light and sparg0 really puts in perspective that he's still got it in him to beat top 10 players and shows that he's still in contention of best player within the US. Gluto on the other hand had a decent previous season overall and only missed out on one top 8 being BFBC5 but all his top 8s where 7ths and 5ths so for him to bounce back with majors like 1st KOFs 95, 4th smash factor X, and 2nd delfino maza feels like he's in full swing motion and this tourney just broke the whole gate down. This was a goated production team.
For some reason, you made it sound far worse for Tweek, than it actually was. The "season" has just begun (three tournaments ago for him). The results of the previous season (with one really good win, one huge win, consistent top 8 placements and several GFs) allow Tweek to start with couple of a bit shaky results (two 9th - not a catastrophe) and still be the best player in US (arguably), let alone "to be in contention".

Glutonny went crazy this tournament, but he wasn't the only European player to do really well. I think that with this event, Europe and in particular France, UK, Sweden and Germany, proved that the view that it is by far the weakest out of the four main regions(USA, Mexico and Japan)is outdated. Is it still the weakest? Yes, but the gap has gotten considerably smaller. I think European tournaments should start being worth more points on the ranking. Right now, it's basically impossible for them to have a supermajor unless players from other continents show up. Even getting it to the level of an A-tier is really difficult.
Yeah also note that euro players are steadily climbing the top 100 ranking worldwide. Mostly french people for now but Bloom4Eva and Sisqui are getting close to top 15. Also gluto was booped of the top 10 with the LumiRank of this semester but he's definitly top 10 with that kind of performance.
I think the basis of comparison has to be equal like country to country or continent to continent. Comparing a whole continent (EU) to other countries (US, Japan, Mex.) isn't really fair. Just my opinion.
@@wakapout630It's sure that it's much easier to achieve good results when you don't have the best Sonic and the best Olimar in your bracket. In any case I really hope that the victory against Ken at Delphino Plaza will allow him to open even more doors to eradicate these demons once and for all.
@@devenbenard7582 Well, USA, Japan and Mexico and individually so strong that they can easily compete with Europe as a whole. They also have a bigger population than any single country in Europe. That's why the smash community separate the regions like that. My point is simply that it should be possible for European tournament to be considered supermajors without a bunch of Japanese and American players showing up. Also, ''continents'' are arbitrary. There's no reason why South america and North America are generally seen as different continents, they're one big land mass. Africa, Asia and Europe are also one big land mass. Australia is usually seen as a big enough island to be a continent, but Greenland, for example, isn't. So continents are not equal, since they vary in size and no one can agree on what a continent is. A country is at least composed of one big political entity(unless there's a civil war).

This set was incredible. Smash needs a bigger esports scene. The game is so good, so fun to watch, so many technical aspects for a high skill ceiling, so much outplay and comeback potential... I think it would go a long way if nintendo improved their online aspect. They say they think smash should be an "in person" game, but you lose a lot of potential competitive players that would be more likely to play if online was a better experience, which would then lead to more players/fans for in-person tournaments and events.

It was probably the only possible way to clutch it out this game and the crazy part is that Gluto converted around that.
Tbf a single falling up air or up tilt from gluto would have been the end as well, while tweek had trouble killing, so it makes sense that he would try to get a kill confirm with banana before gluto finds his kill confirms.

ridiculously insane set. gluto has leveled up so, so, so much since early ultimate.
Watched this live. Still came back to watch it again
Same lol
the banana catch with nair looks so intentional. Pretty sure glutto picked that exact timing as his risk reward was just massively in his favour. tweek did not respect this at all and probably assumed glutto just accidentally caught it and got mega tilted from that but idk, the placement and timing looked way too intentional considering tweek had banana in hand
Yeah. I'm pretty sure Gluto caught it with Nair purposely 3-4 times in the last game. Looked too intentional to just be him mashing
Gluto be nairing.
Yeah y'all reaching too much gluto Nair's constantly since it's A long hit box and safe in many situations he just simply got lucky with his guess tweek could have survived if he tech rolled to the right of the platform but didn't
@mmmm-xn2qp i wouldnt say its lucky at all like tweek put himself in a shitty position by down throwing banana there, its not that glutto had the read its more that he was fully aware that if tweek tries throwing that he would win. if tweek did anything else he wouldnt lose the stock for it, so the risk reward was just massively in gluttos favor
@@connermartin8510 it's luck dude like I said how could it be intentional if he was riding on tweek not rolling to the side. Tweek could have reversed monkey flipped or reversed pop gun.
What a hype battle. They were scrapping, fighting, battling for their lives. These two went to war.
Glut with the win! Dawg that was wild, what an ending. Tweek played so well, so tight, but just couldn’t do it. So much fun
I was disappointed they didn’t hug, or shake hands at the end though. Emotions were high but I feel you still gotta come together and respect each other. I don’t think they disrespect each other, but we should see the camaraderie.
Tweek has said a couple of times that Gluto is his favorite player, so I'm sure they're on really good terms
@@ProtoArc We saw them on live together every now and then, and they show a tremendous amount of respect to each other. But I get the feeling Tweek is an emotional being, and that just after losing that kind of match he wants to be alone few minutes.
38:29 The commentator just MORPHS into goblin mode
Holy shit he defended home
THE MOST HYPED AND EMOTIONAL WIN ever !!!!!!!
U know Tweek REALLY hates Steve when u have to think about if he was more tilted getting waft “cheesed” game 10 of grands at Tera or losing 3-0 to acola in losers quarters at WTT
What was the video he tilted against steve
@@bokc_ellis losers quarters vs acola at watch the throne….
@@HenryZhoupokemon thx bro I need a laugh
The french dimension strikes back!! Hype AF grands. Thought light and sparg0 were gonna be at grands!
Dude Gluttony is an absolute monster! I love the moniker of French King though I mean that crown be fitting good lol what an insane set and the commentary was hype as well.
Some of the most high level smash I have watched in Ultimate.
Crazy how one decision or one read can cost you your stock!
As european i can confirm the backround sounds like a Championsleague Soccer game
I love it
Tweek disappeared Frame 1 after the set 😂
Congrats to Gluto but feel really bad for tweek
Banana into waft is one of the most insane thing i have seen in this game so far. Imagine getting betrayed so hard by your own item lmaooo
He did a crazy banana into waft to Tweek at Genesis 9 aswell (last game)
Amazing set but wow that ending is rough
Bro lost his final stock at 48% for one mistake
Well yeah it's tweek
That’s wario for ya. But tbf, Glutos use of banana in that situation literally could not have better.
Well yeah he chose the best option and won from it but i just hate comeback mechanics like that LOL
the fact that Tweek could've tech rolled instead and it could've changed the outcome is insane
I don't care what anyone says, waft is an awful mechanic. He did not deserve to die that early, especially after he was dominating on that stock.
@@wave4024Agree. Characters shouldn't be buffed for doing worse. Love Ultimate, but it truly would be a better game without Rage drive, GO, Waft etc.
No hate to Gluto, he did great. But I'm sick of seeing Light, MKleo, and Tweek getting obliterated with full stock leads just because they didn't end the match within the 50 seconds it takes for Wario to get Waft
On était là pour cette MASTERCLASS
This set was incredible. Smash needs a bigger esports scene. The game is so good, so fun to watch, so many technical aspects for a high skill ceiling, so much outplay and comeback potential... I think it would go a long way if nintendo improved their online aspect. They say they think smash should be an "in person" game, but you lose a lot of potential competitive players that would be more likely to play if online was a better experience, which would then lead to more players/fans for in-person tournaments and events.
That last game seemed like banana helped Gluto more than Tweek.
1. This was a good fight from both players.
2. Wario’s waft comeback factor is so dumb. Although Gluto is a master at optimizing waft.
3. I’m glad Gluto won simply for home field advantage
4. This was a good fight from both players
Grand Finals with melee characters is to Grand Finals with swordies as UFC lightweight fights is to UFC with heavy weight fights
THE SHADOW REALM!!!
I absolutely love the fact that we (the French) are BIASED in every way possible, and we completely assume it lol ! The commentators were very funny talking about whose side they were taking while saying what's going on on stream. French pride really is unstoppable when anything remotely competitive comes up
Vous êtes ultra gênants avec ça d'ailleurs
C'est comme l'autre malaise ambulant de Humming qui ramène la France dans toutes ses phrases lorsqu'il commente avec des anglophones.
29:52 That bike kill was unexpected. I thought Wario was the one who got blasted off 😅.
Wow, I’ve never seen Tweek so frustrated. Gluto got him good. One of the best Grand Finals I’ve seen. Congrats Gluto! You definitely earned it with your Wario! 👏🏼🥇
One Popped off, another raged off
Commentators banter is so excellent. Some of the best smash I've ever watched
Man i wanted to say a bunch of goofy stuff, but tweeks reaction hurt. Hes been through a tremendous rollercoaster through the game and this was a gut punch. I really hope he doesnt quit after this. I wanted gluto to win, but im not sure it was worth it.
Tweek is a warrior, he'll be back for sure, he always does
game 1 reset what a fucking comeback holy
21:45 that “yes!” Killed me
one of the best tournaments i have ever seen in my entire life. WOW
Tweek in smash ultimate is the embodiment of Spain without the s
I've never heard Haz at a loss of words the way he was after game 3 of the 2nd set
Tweek was just so real. He showed the inner smash player in all of us
Gluto vs Tweek sets are always legendary!
The commentator turned into a pokemon after that last waft
the devastation on tweek and elation on gluto if one was a pop off the other should be called pop on
Glut went CRAY in this battle 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
two of my favorite players, that was fucking tragic though
Gluto has had this matchup on complete lockdown for awhile now. He was prob the only guy Tweek didn’t want to fight in all of top 8.
I personally think that Tweek was most worried about having to play Light again because he hates fox A LOT and Tweek has a lot of his own Wario experience. So out of Gluto, Light, and Sparg0; I think Tweek would've done best against Sparg0 and that's wild!
How can you say that when tweek mained wario before so he knows the ins and outs of that character
@@mmmm-xn2qp yeah he used to but Tweek’s still been losing to Gluto (without it really being close) for a long time now. At least with Spargo and Light he’s been able to go back and forth with them unlike Gluto
LET'S GO GLUTO!!!! THE FRENCH DIMENSION REIGNS SUPRRRREME! 👍👍
Tweek shouldn’t have played around banana in such a lead. Basically he gave Gluto a weapon to clutch. Think about it: Gluto with waft (a move that kills mad early) plus banana (strongest kill confirm in the game).
I feel like monkey flip conditions the player to use it as a panic option too often. It's a good move, but it makes your brain return to monke
Oh the Irony of losing because of your own banana
God, already watching the first stock is hype
Amazing set, great play from both players and stelar commentary, 10/10
1:11 That was so egregious that PETA felt a disturbance lol
Big fan of Tweek but I'm sorry, characters getting owned by their own items is just too good to not enjoy
The way it ended was the worst for Tweek, he always gets some cheese reverse banana setups, Gluto is nice tho
Tweek had it after the reset but that banana waft was such a clutch. Gluto is our king
Live by the banana, die by the babana 💀
why no one talking about tweek's reaction?
jesus christ the guy was devastated, he mashed the table, hold his head while crouching then just picked up his stuff in a rush and just... left.
On est chez nous❤️
So sad about tweek. But gluto is HIM
29:50 I love that wheelie kill
This commentator saying baNANA made me so happy
