  • I have learned a good bit from my past videos about Flux Core welding and fabricating an exhaust. I am not a professional, but I am a DIY car guy and helping the community is what I love to do. Hopefully, this video will get you up and rolling to fabricate your own exhaust and get that Hot Rod on the road.

      Best way to learn Tyler!!! Where did u buy your welder? Tyler as far as making tools,I been trained in Auto Mechanics and been doing it for a long time, making tools is a part of the game dont be ashamed of that,as long as it works and those welds look phenomenal, I been trained in welding too,u are doing great man screw the haters!

      If you wanna improve your welds and have less porosity don't down weld with a flux core wire go up less possibility of slag inclusion and better flux gas coverage

  • @johncampbell4923

    When using flux core wire, always start each weld with a clean wire. If you stop, snap the wire. The wire end closes off (see the tiny bead at the end?) making the next strike difficult to start unless you have a clean wire end. Great video for fellow DIYers!

    • @literalfire1927
      @literalfire1927 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bryanconoverjr8233 I tend to find that 1/4" to 3/8" of a gap works best for me. But then again, I have had situations where I'll have a full inch of wire sticking out the end of the tip, and it works just the same. I'd really say just get some scrap metal if you've got some, and try different things to see what works best for you.

    Hello great vid. I been welding for a few years now and my first time welding, I used a regular Miller mig welder with argon. I say its much easier to weld with than flux. I recently bought a flux machine for my home projects and I felt like I never knew how to weld before. One thing that helps me is, I always drag my puddle and keep my wire stick out about 1/8th to 3/16th long from the nozzle. And cleaning/ prepping the metal before helps a lot as well

    I took few welding classes at a community center school (very cheap for the classes lots of schedules for working people and lots of fun to learn the right way with the right instructions on hands experience ) ; one thing to help anyone with a cheap welder is to use quality wire , the wires are the big difference and this was proven in class by the instructor when someone brought in their HF welder and he use both HF wire and then Lincoln to show us all and if you use gas you will be amazed of what it does to your welds too;, I got to practice with acetylene ,tig mig,stick ,anything I wanted to do or pursue and learn what the numbers on the consumables mean , too much theory information that is needed to know ; to practice just get thin flat bar cut like 1" x 5"strips of remnants metal and keep doing straight over a flat piece passes and /or "T" shapes to get angles and butt joints for practice, I get cheap new clean remnants from the metal store ... is all about practice and learning how to set up your welder with your hand speed ... just like in golf you get to the driving range to practice over 100`s of balls to then do better when really going to the field and play ...some schooling is always better to understand techniques and your consumables and why not to go in long passes because heat also warps your metals or make holes ,etc...now I look for home projects with my welder ,doors, fence, gates , kayak stands/shelves from bed frames people throw away and now my car muffler too, anyways take care and have fun.
