Once you have mastered the method of making these by following our visuals and step by step instructions you will be ready to raid your stash and make loads of them. They work best as a plain and print combo where you can pick up one of the colours of a print with a plain colour for a coordinated look. Try to use a silky fabric or a thin cotton for the lining so it slides down easily. The sliding pen pouch is an ideal way to create something beautiful and useful from your leftover fabric.

I agree, the pattern and measurements do not match. I mean the pattern you can download, I haven’t tried to make my own.
I got one end of the zip wrong can you see where I have gone wrong please ? It’s the end of the zip I went wrong but don’t know where ?
There's an error somewhere in the pattern: I think the end of the zipper isn't supposed to be even with the edge of the lining fabric as shown at 2:27. Instead, it appears both ends of the zipper should extend beyond the fabric edge and you sew around the zipper "extensions". At 6:01 as they're topstitching, you can see the zipper end extension as they start sewing, and then you see the zipper start extension too as they sew around the bag. So both the start and the end of the zipper should extend past the fabric and have tabs??
I respected your measurements exactly but there are either mistaken or given wrong in purpose. The cuff comes smaller than the pen upper circumference so I cant place it and sew it in place. I will redo the pencil base as is the only thing I could fix, but just wanted to know others know as well.

The directions here and on the website are switched on which interfacing is used for what. Just wanted to let others know before they mess up like me
The pattern is way bigger than the measurements given.
These are poor directions. I had to add an inch to the outside sliding collar (which means I had to make it twice because the first one was to small). Also a tip for sewing the bag together, tape the zipper inside the bag to keep it out of the way. I tried it and it worked great.
