For what it's worth, my take on the visual aspect of this piece- the man in the chair is us, thinking we are free, playing our tune, but in truth, we wear a mask that blinds us to what's really happening, the money game. Ren is the enforcer, calling the tune. He becomes aware of his role and rejects his part. By drawing eyes on the mask, he forces us to also become aware. The final section is him saying, "OK, so this is corrupt and immoral, and maybe you want to just burn it all down. But, you are also part of this game. So, if you want to burn it all down, then start with yourself because we're all guilty of playing our part in the money game.
if you wanna hear him sing do" back on 74/message in a bottle retake". The guitarist is Romain from their band The Big Push best busking band I've ever heard
Ren doesn’t do music, he does performance art. We are conditioned to listen to copy-and-paste formulaic music with bridges and hooks confined to 4 bar loops. To understand Ren, it’s necessary to break out of the Disney art brain and enter the Picasso art brain.
@@darkmatter6714 I’ve noticed that a lot with modern pop music. We don’t need to worry about AI when the computer is already doing 90% of the work. Thanks for the comment
Ren is not only talented he's a talent magnet he draws them all to him (or him to them i dunno) theirs a long list. and if he sees talent he'll shout them out he's nice like that. Welcome to the rabbit hole friend enjoy
I call this version of Ren "psycho-teacher Ren" haha... he educates, he sings, he's acting like a psycho while doing it. You'll see this side of him in more of his videos 😆
Great reaction!! This was Ren's first attempt at a truly complicated single shot video. It took 186 takes over 5 days to get perfect (although a lot of that was Ren expanding the song and changing the choreography as they proceeded). It was so cold that they had to warm the guitar player's (Ren's roommate at the time) hands between takes.
@@yonahgrossman7319 That’s insane! I was told in the comments for “Hi Ren” that one was a composite of four different takes. But that one has less choreography to it as well. Thanks.
@@mikewritesandsings After the prolonged MG shoot Ren decided he wouldn't make the same mistakes again, so now he makes sure the song he's filming is finished and rehearses until he can perform it in his sleep. He then usually does between 15-20 takes and chooses which he likes best. HI REN was unusual because Ren was tossed out of the location (not the only time, as you'll see) after only 4 takes, so he did some minor assemeblage to produce the final result. If he had not been ejected HI REN would almost certainly have all been edited from the same take. Live recordings and single shot videos are Ren trademarks, although his studio work, which he generally produces, mixes and masters himself (along with playing all the instruments), is some of the most sophisticated music you'll find. Keep up the great work! I'll be watching.
Loved your observations and thoughts Money game 2 Lyric video is the full version made 2020 fyi Money Game 3 is International Music Video Awards winning 9 minute long masterpiece
I forgot, when you react to Pt. 2 make sure to pick the OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO and not the LIVE version, which is only 1/3 of the entire song with no music. If you do the LIVE version first the Ren fans will have a collective stroke.
Enjoyed watching. If you want to understand the meaning of this piece can I suggest watching some other reactions, one of my favourites is this one th-cam.com/video/zgIEoqE97GI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ztzfn4Bw_zxWwVuY
