to everyone saying the tempo was fast: they probably didn’t rehearse this fast but as jitters and excitement can come along with performing such a fun piece, it’s very easy to speed up tempo just a little bit and once that tempo is set- it’s better to keep it rather than change it as it would jumble everyone up! all about unison and they did awesome! sucks i’m 8 years late to watching this 😂
That was brilliant but I couldn't help finding it a bit of a weird choice of song to sing to your school, considering what it's about. Haha. Really good though!
Second kid from the left (at least I think it's him) is amazing on the high notes. Just listen to 0:45 and 1:11 onward for example, he sounds like an opera singer!
Mate, I am the guy on the far left, singing falsetto - my friend posted the comment, but he's right. If you listen to our music, you might not recognise my voice because I mostly sing in baritone in the band. Listen to a song like Secant, or at points in On The Shoreward Edge, and you can hear me singing falsetto. I don't expect you to like it, but that is me.
The timing is very off. Especially from someone who has heard the song several times. It's still awkward to see a group of teen boys performing a song about gang rape.
I respect them for choosing such a difficult (and quite frankly, weird ((nothing wrong with that, this is my favorite of Alt-J)) song. It was a commendable attempt.
@Dusty I’m not hating on the song, it just feels VERY off that underaged white boys would sing this to what looks to be a room full of even younger school boys. It’s just not in good taste or none of them have any idea what the lyrics are saying
I just had a thought - I think its so fast to ensure they all sing at the same time. the beginning is especially hard to keep up with exactly. but thats just my guess?
Well obviously you haven't been in an A Capella group before. It's not so important as it to be the copy of the original rather, your take on that song. And I believe they interpreted their own style in this song rather lively.
Why is there so much hate? Jesus. Not everyone can sing like Joe. And they did great, why don't you guys try and do it before you go and comment nasty things when you probably couldn't even do it half as well as these dudes did.
charlie Yes, thank you, I was thinking that too Someone was like 'You think that is good? Well then you obciously have no sense of pitch and the right speed' Like, those guys do this as their hobby, have been reherarsing for it for a few weeks maybe in a f* school club. How are they supposed to be as good as professionals with instruments ans so on?! I think this was amazing.
Most people when the scream for the United States to implement more socialist polices dont realize that the majority of the countries that utilize such policies are extremely homogeneous and often overwhelmingly caucasian
+SPE RPROO Actually the song was based on a book entitled "last exit to Brooklyn" and if you had actually read it, you would know that it was about a prostitute whom was gang raped, then murdered...
The lyrics they're saying are literally "In your snatch fits pleasure, broom shaped pleasure" That's awkward that a bunch of boys are singing about gangrape to an assembly of children.
Scrotie Wantubsis black people have choirs and acapella groups and cover songs at talent shows all the time. idk what you mean by indie, maybe that's the difference?
swiftset Yeah, indie is the main difference. Name 2 popular indie bands with 1+ black people in it, it's really rare. Like as rare as a black dude with black-rimmed glasses and Hitler's youth hipster-cut.
Wow, intense. would of loved to of been there. I would of been smiling non stop. If you are looking for new music try searching The Stumble and Shake - Panic Attack (Earthquake Version) you may be in for a surprise!
the awkward dancing really solidifies the performance
Maybe they were just fucking with everybody for not knowing the lyrics
0:22 i love how yung nugget is angrily beatboxing.
*breaks out in angelic voices* Me: oh mah lord
Same 😭
1:55 is my favorite part simply because he looks like "whatever, broom-shaped pleasure" and shrugs. Great job guys!
to everyone saying the tempo was fast: they probably didn’t rehearse this fast but as jitters and excitement can come along with performing such a fun piece, it’s very easy to speed up tempo just a little bit and once that tempo is set- it’s better to keep it rather than change it as it would jumble everyone up! all about unison and they did awesome! sucks i’m 8 years late to watching this 😂
a little bit too fast, but pretty nice though
Try 0.75 X sounds ugly tho
@@luqaniga4257 it doesn’t sound bad in 0.75x actually
I disagree. I love the speed of it.
That was brilliant but I couldn't help finding it a bit of a weird choice of song to sing to your school, considering what it's about. Haha. Really good though!
Lol, the people in the back are like : ....fking boring ..
I'd be like ( ゚Д゚)AWSOME !
Henry Nyberg This entry came fourth in the competition. Compared to the really amazing entries, this one was actually a bit average.
Lol, their probably like ,"Again? Again? For real.."
dirtywart np ;)
That was fucking amazing.
There's nothing else to say other than everyone should tweet this to Alt-J.
This at 0.75 speed sounds really great!!
Second kid from the left (at least I think it's him) is amazing on the high notes. Just listen to 0:45 and 1:11 onward for example, he sounds like an opera singer!
Its actually the person furthest from the left, sung with him for years! Glad to see A Social doing so well, shame they didn't win the competition!!
***** It's actually Ethan and Dom.
Both their voices are superb. In fact, all of these voices are amazing, and I'm just so glad they're singing.
Dominic Baum.. He is singer in our band. soundcloud.com/theaureateact/sets/on-the-shoreward-edge-e-p

beatboxer goin hard in tha paint..
I hate how those kids in the background look bored. It's awesome!
IDGAF what the songs about, this acapella is freaking amazing and I got chills when I heard it. Great job guys!
Obv have no sense of timing or pitch then. Glad you enjoyed in none the less.
Obv that it very much matters. Glad you found a way to feel intellectually superior to a stranger on the fucking internet none the less.
Yeah um this song is about gang rape. What an, interesting, choice for a high school?
The timing is very off. Especially from someone who has heard the song several times. It's still awkward to see a group of teen boys performing a song about gang rape.
@@georgenaylorfilms I came from the future just to tell you to shut the fuck up
I liked the "ooo" part, but everything else was...okay I guess.
I respect them for choosing such a difficult (and quite frankly, weird ((nothing wrong with that, this is my favorite of Alt-J)) song. It was a commendable attempt.
so eventually Alt-J got me here! keep it up boys
This made me very uncomfortable.
TheUnstill The lyrics could have did it?
ahahahahahahahahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only one
Literally a room full of dudes singing about a woman getting gang raped... huh ok
@Dusty I’m not hating on the song, it just feels VERY off that underaged white boys would sing this to what looks to be a room full of even younger school boys. It’s just not in good taste or none of them have any idea what the lyrics are saying
@Dusty ya, ya, I know what the song references. I don’t know man, it just feels a little off for it to be sung in a school choir
Such a messed up song and funny that they did this but it's still amazing
Alt J's Facebook page brought me here. :) LOVE IT!
mr beatbox shouldve had his own mic, but yall are rly talented
am i supposed to be laughing? because i'm laughing.
it's too fast !! music is the silence too especially in alt-j with the breaths time !
I liked it, but I agree it was WAY Too fast!
I just had a thought - I think its so fast to ensure they all sing at the same time. the beginning is especially hard to keep up with exactly. but thats just my guess?
They probably want to get through it before the headmaster realizes what the lyrics are about. :D
This performance is legit more than a minute shorter than the original
TH-cam decided to recommend me this 7 years late...
That kid at 1:25 is having none of this.
The lead singer wasn't the best, and they sped up the song so much.
shut up
It's true, they went much to fast and the lead didn't work too well with the song.
Well obviously you haven't been in an A Capella group before. It's not so important as it to be the copy of the original rather, your take on that song. And I believe they interpreted their own style in this song rather lively.
ITS A BUNCH OF CUTE GUYS SINGING AND ENJOYING THEMSELVES WHAT COULD BE BETTER
Paige Johnston You mean the identical girls?
That kid really sells the "in your snatch with pleasure" part. You think those young kids would be more "up" for this.
In your snatch fits pleasure, a broom shaped pleasure..
Yes that's awesome can't stop listening to that wonderful "cover". Congrats to them !
♥
WOW I used to watch this video every single day at 13. I'm glad I found it again.
This is so brilliant! I love this song and you guys nailed it in Acapella!
I'm in awe
i literally just found this and it’s amazing omg alt j NEEEEDS TO SEE THIS
oh, the harmonies of young men and beat boxing, so incredible, this is the ethereal sound of heaven. too bad they didn't incorporate stomp!
Okay this is amazing. I think no one in the room didnt aprecciate this as much as they should.
those high voices are amazing!!
Why is there so much hate? Jesus. Not everyone can sing like Joe. And they did great, why don't you guys try and do it before you go and comment nasty things when you probably couldn't even do it half as well as these dudes did.
charlie Yes, thank you, I was thinking that too

How are they supposed to be as good as professionals with instruments ans so on?!
I think this was amazing.
Not surprised this song was chosen by this group. Great cover!!
Oh my god! I love this version! You are perfect!! 😍😍😍

Do these kids know this is a song about a prostitute getting raped with a broom?
Great enthusiasm though.
yes. does it matter?
SPE RPROO haha prostitutes can be girls too.
+SPE RPROO Actually the song was based on a book entitled "last exit to Brooklyn" and if you had actually read it, you would know that it was about a prostitute whom was gang raped, then murdered...
+Davie Voelker yes, that is true, but it was with a broom. you're both right.
The lyrics they're saying are literally "In your snatch fits pleasure, broom shaped pleasure"
That's awkward that a bunch of boys are singing about gangrape to an assembly of children.
That is freaking awesome!!

It's a choir/acapella cover of an indie song at a talent show, what did you expect?
Scrotie Wantubsis black people have choirs and acapella groups and cover songs at talent shows all the time. idk what you mean by indie, maybe that's the difference?
