That was a lot of work completed in one day, the Grinder noise will make you CRAZY............... Nice to see a lot of parts the same Color even if it's only Epoxy. Nice information on the cleaning of the bare metal, crap will find it's way to the top of the Finish paint at the worst moment.
Try a buffer with 80 grit hook it DA paper on it. Rips material off in a hurry. A box or paper will do a whole car. One guy takes about 4 hours to do a nice job. Have to touch up some spots with a strip disc on grinder and 80 on a regular da but the buffer makes quick work of most of it.
@ yeah that’s the worst. Sometimes a quick pass with a 36 or 40 grit da disc on the buffer helps knock the top layer off. You don’t want to get too far into the metal with those though. But they can help.
I’ve always use harbor freight wire wheels the stiff wire kind with 3 or 4 you can do the whole car an leaves the metal a lot cleaner. They cost @$5 each. I’ve Us those on door jams an the belly aswell.
Yea. Alot of ways. But be sure to scratch the metal after wire wheel. Because the wire wheel mote like polishes the metal instead of scratching it. Won't adhere well without scractnes
Im a collision guy who's been doing it fir 29 something years i was a junkie for a long time and even with the bad habits i always was busy and always did nice work heavy or light I've always wanted to do something for myself that people csn see and being a heroin addict can really take a big piece of your finances hahaha. Anyways i wonder how much being able to put shit on you tube plays a part is guys even being able to afford to do their own thing and put out you tube content on the regular and get the fuck out of a corporate body shop . I would really love to talk to one of these guys about that
Start a channel. I do get paid but it's not much. Seems like most people rather be entertained than learn something. So if you could make learning entertaining, that's the ticket.

ive been thinking about doing this. that original lacquer was stubborn, thick, and the metal had some of that black rust pits that i used ospho on.

i just ordered some to try on the rest of the car.
The chemical bath is the best, since it penetrates to hidden, unaccessible areas.
Where are you in Texas looking to get some work done
houston area but we dont really work for the public , yet
I'm not the public I'm a rida. Damn. Have a 66 need 6 batteries.
Question jig or rotisserie alot of people using homemade jig.
I have a homemade body cart. It's what the 59 is sitting on
Would it been faster to have it sand blasted by someone you trust ? Compare to cost ?
Faster yes. Better, not necessarily

Do you guys do work for people?
Not nor really. Not until our cars are all done
Shop question… is that diy spray foam or did you have someone do it? How thick.. and most importantly, is it enough
I had someone do it. It's 1 inch on walls and about 3 inches on the ceiling it works.
