Oooooh. Where have you been all my last 20 videos? Thank you. It's like Genie in the bottle. Every time I need to do something in PowerDirector, even stuff I didn't think I could do. Boom, you show up.
I'm here now, always ready to help. 😊
@@PDU_Tutorials You're right. You were here all along ... It's me who hadn't thought of asking the question yet :-)
This is a feature I didn't know about but have used multiple times now. Makes timelaps previewable thanks!
That's a great way to use this. :-)
Exellent , thank you so much for this information.👍👍😀😀
You’re welcome.
Smoooth! Billy Dee would eat that breakfast. I'm not new to this but I did not know about the render preview - AND I NEED IT! - so I can record in 4K more often and actually be able to edit it. I'm guessing that it is getting hard to come up with new topics for this version of PD, but you picked a great one this time. Thanks so much!
👍🏾
Thanks, Maliek! This is soo helpful. I recently had a and b-roll clips that I sped up together and the editing playback was awful and even jumped to future audio. I rendered the whole video just to make sure it was ok. This tip is perfect for me.
me too

Fantastic video. I had no idea this could be done. Ima start using it for sure for sped up clips and maybe some 4k. Thanks Maliek!!!

Glad you liked it
Thanks so much

I was not even aware that the "Render" feature existed. Always another PD nuance to learn.😄
Yep
Brilliant! Been wondering how to do this for 2 years! Thanks

@@PDU_Tutorials Maliek, can you please point me in the direction of your cost that talks about video production? Not the one that just covers the video formats, but the one that covers the settings down the bottom of the Produce tab. Thanks man!

Yes
Smo oo o o o o o o o th! Nice one Maliek. I nearly always use 4K and sometimes when I'm adding effects it gets quite jumpy. I've got loads to do this weekend so this will be a great help. Thanks. Jim
You're welcome Jim. Just keep in mind using this will add time to your work flow.
Everything does Maliek. Just trying to produce an interesting showreel of my stuff. It's all going very slowly. If not for you . . .it wouldn't be going at all ! Thanks.
Thanks for the info
😊
Dude, your intros are🔥
Thank you.
Thanks! I needed this one! I add music to my videos and really need to see if the beats hit where I want them to. What i normally have to do is just guess and produce a video to check it. This is great because i shoot 4k a lot.
😄
That's actually just what I needed! Thx.
You’re welcome.
great tip, totally didn't realize this was possible and editing a long 4k video with a bunch of titles and things led to a whole bunch of headache and eventually just trial and error of producing video then going back and editing then producing etc. terribly slow and annoying workflow. Now i KNOW. just wish i knew before that headache filled evening
Glad I was able to bring this feature to your attention. It will definitely help the next time you need to edit 4K.
Should also mention when there are multiple tracks of video, each gets rendered, which can take much longer.
Great point. Thanks for bringing it up.
Do certain cpus or gpus allow for smoother live previews without requiring a pre-rendered preview?
What a great tip, thanks!

So, this is the first time I've decided to watch this turorial. It explains why my videos might be a lil glitchy.
I'm totally clicking the smooth render link after this! Already, excellent info!!
Dang, you're amazing man! This is it!🌟

Buttery smoothness coming your way.
Hi, I have the opposite issue from your video. Whenever I hit play to preview a clip a rendering notification pops up above the timeline as well as a green bar in the timeline. Since this has started preview is extremely slow and there is no longer audio when previewing. I used tips from your other videos to lower preview quality and resolution but this did not help, rendering is unchecked in preferences. Could you help me solve this problem? For reference I have PD365 subscription for windows 11. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Never mind lol. I just got excited to finish my vid, I didn't realize you are showing how to render on Power Director16. I'm using Power Director17

Another good tutorial here, I have ran into this problem in the past and didn't know why / what was going on since I did not render it through producing it, and yes it can take a long time too. And how did you speed it up so it would be done faster?
I just sped up the video to make it go by faster for viewing. I didn't really speed it up.
Hello... Thanks for the video hun. My powerdirector was working fine, but started to fail to open, so I had to uninstall and reinstall... think it updated the version I'm using.. before I was using 17 and now I think its 365. Anyway, Now I am not getting the preview window and dont know how to get it up unless its temporary for cutting or masking etc. How can I get the preview back up in the right hand corner? Thanks so much
Try following the solutions mentioned on the PowerDirector forum. If they don't work you can post in the same thread and explain what you tried and what is happening. forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/79375.page#339274
@@PDU_Tutorials thank you so much for your quick response. I did get the preview window to come up now, however, it is not playing the movie... even the timeline stamp isnt moving. it only plays the clip.. I do have the view tab selected on play entire movie.
I'll check the link. thanks
Is there a way to undo the rendering that I did on a portion of my video?
#I'm new to this and you continue to answer all my questions
👍🏾
Hi Malik
Does rendering give you better quality when processing it later or just when previewing, as in is it worth doing every time?
I don’t think so. More of a tool to see if a transition or effect works as intended without having to fully render a project.
Hi Maliek. I have an FLV 90 minute file I want to make a video of. However, the Audio is about 3 seconds ahead of the video. I tried to convert to AVI and mp4, but the results are the same. AT the moment, I am rendering the FLV file. It is literally taking DAYS to finish. However, will the rendering get the audio and video problem sorted, or is there another option?
It will not fix the sync issue. Best option is to convert the file to constant frame rate using Handbrake.
@@PDU_Tutorials Thanks Maliek. I use Handbrake, so I appreciate your advice as always :)
@@PDU_Tutorials Thanks Maliek. Handbrake fixed my prob.

I always make 10 hour videos on powerdirector 365 always with the same format .
It sometimes smoothly finish it but usually freezes on 70 or 80 percent . Even tho I always make sure I have enough memory ???
Can you please help if you can .

Your question would be better to post on the PowerDirector forum so you can share your files and allow users to test and see what is going on. You can also share a DXdiag file of your PC specs on the forum. The link to the forum is on my channel page under the About section.
@@PDU_Tutorials ok thank you so much
Hi brother, those power director save rendered clip afters producing just like premiere cuz am running out of space and need to delete
Yes
I have strung about 15 std8 digitally converted files (19 minutes), the most recent I added today (extra 90 second) but it was jittery, so I used "enhanced stabilizer" on the clip. In the preview window I clicked onthe "Render Preview" button. Once the progress bar ended I noticed the green line on the timeline and clicked "Play" - it was jumping 6-10 frames during the preview (awful). I then moved the cursor back to a previous position (say at 18 minutes) - same thing. went back to 15 minutes - jitters. I wanted to see how the smoothness in playback changed when it got to the latest clip, but the whole timeline of clips is now kaput. However, when the cursor hits the green line (latest clip), it stops with msg "Media Source File Error[code 2]".
In other words it has generated a file it does not recognize -any suggestion?
I deleted the rendered clip (so back to a 19 minute video) but the jitters is still there. So I saved and restarted PD21 - still jittery, contaminated the whole thing. Also the jitters seem to have a consistent "15 frame jump" so when it moves to the next clip the frame jumping will go from say frames 3+18 to 7+22. I bought PD21 7 weeks ago for Win10 system so unsure what the "Err code2" with "....project may not fully comply with format standard..... lack decoding components.... try another media format....." message means.
quick question tho, if possible how can you remove it good sir?
The render line above the clips? You can't remove that. It is a way to see which part of the timeline is already rendered. Once you start a new project it is removed.
@@PDU_Tutorials ooh I see got it and I'll keep that in mind! Thank you for that!!! Love your videos btw!!
@@hirolyte9666 Thank you.
Magis 2019 is out so when will PD17U hit this market?
Probably soon.
Maliek is there a way to render your whole video with a single button or would i have to highlight the whole timeline so i can render it all??
use the Produce button at the top of the screen
@@PDU_Tutorials ohhh alright thank you x))!
So are you saying it is better to render before final produce ?
No, but if you want to you can. It depends on what your needs are. If you want to see the highest quality preview and have the time to render twice then maybe it is worth your time. if you are fine with the preview quality and don't want to add time to your workflow then maybe it is not worth it. There are no absolutes in editing.
@@PDU_Tutorials Thank You

Malik, I recently upgraded my six year old HP Pavillion Laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (unable to install Windows 11) Now my editing is slower plus the green render preview status bar never goes away and is getting on my nerves. I learned about the method you are teaching here last year but now this is interfering and is really throwing me off. I know there is a way to get rid of it because I also learned it from one of your videos a while back and all was good.
From my own research I am understanding that it may be that my CPU is out dated for this particular OS and this laptop is unable to upgrade to the next level. I am concerned that I may have to purchase another laptop in order to remedy this issue so that I can be more precise on my editing. I will check out the other video you mentioned as well.
Did I make any sense at all?
Please help. Thanks
Makes sense but not sure what you would like my help with.
Can you undo a render preview? I just did a render preview and the audio from a few clips has an echo and got much louder. I looked online and can't find a fix for it.
Have you tried using the undo button?
@@PDU_Tutorials Yeah, it doesn’t undo render preview. I’m trying to get the clips back to the state before rendering, I can’t find anything that will let me do it.
@@N4CHO_ You probably need to contact CyberLink support or ask about it on the Powerdirector forum. Both of the links are on my channel under the About section.
First, I need to thank you for your wonderful tutorials! I just need one question answered if possible. I can drag every type of media into my timeline except video. I grab it and nothing transfers. Yet I can drag photos, music, titles. etc. but he video clips will not drag and drop in the timeline. The track is unlocked and empty. IF anyone has experienced this I would appreciate help. Are you able to drag the sample video clips to the timeline? What is the file format of the video clips you are trying to drag to the timeline? Are they compatible with PowerDirector? www.cyberlink.com/support/faq-content.do?id=25674
Hello Maliek, thanks for the video. I have a question: Once I have rendered it for preview, will it stays like that forever or can it be removed?
thanks

I am not aware of a way to remove it
Hey there, you should make a video why preview render doesn't work.... I'm tryin to render it but it doesn't, and the pop up render window just keeps loading Wich it hasn't even render no percentage at all. After the video image get lost
I wouldn't make a tutorial on why something doesn't work. It is usually user error or a bug with the program.
Have you tried reaching out to CyberLink or the PowerDirector forum for help?
Maliek, was that 4k you were rendering? I'm pulling my hair out trying to edit 4k. Thanks! I should've watched this first!
Yes, it was 4k. This should help you out.

Didn't know you moved to power direct. You done with pinnacle?
Not sure. I haven't made any Pinnacle tutorials in about 7 months.
PowerDirector University are people starting to swing over to this particular platform?
PowerDirector University Channel looks like you got quite a few subscribers so it's clearly doing well. There are a few things I had to suffer through trying to figure it out for myself because I hadn't seen any of your videos LOL but I figured it out bro LOL
Not that I know of. I think people who like Pinnacle stick with it for the most part. I had some issues so I had to cut back to one TH-cam channel. I had the biggest following on this channel so I kept this one and stopped making videos on the Pinnacle channel.
PowerDirector University well I'm still using pinnacle. But I like your content and your delivery. So I'll absolutely still give you my views on this channel too my friend... my channel is still young only about 20 videos. I bought pinnacle cause of your channel. Was choosing between Vegas and Pinnacle.. Lol so don't delete those videos. Lol
Hello Maliek, when i import some action cam footage in 1920x1080p with 30fps in MOV format in power director 15 in machine with 2.3GHz intel i5, 8GB RAM, the whole machine become slow....Only in action cam footage otherwise machine performance is good for any other 4K videos too...why its happening...Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I already have Open GL hardware acceleration option checked
What is the codec of the .MOV file? What is the bitrate of the .MOV file? What is the make & model of the device you used to record the footage? Can you record to MP4? If yes, do the MP4 files work?
@@PDU_Tutorials codec informations are-
Stream 0
Codec: H264 MPEG-4 AVC (PART 10) (avc1)
Bitrate 30 FPS
stream 1
Codec: sowt
My recording device is eken H9R and that have default MOV format recording only...no any other option there.
The codec should be fine. I'm wondering if the bitrate might be the issue. You gave the frames per second not the bitrate. Is the file 4K? If it is 4K the file is probably lagging due to the resolution and bitrate.
Have you tried to do what I did in the video and render the file on the timeline? You can do that or you can try changing the preview resolution on enabling shadow files.
@@PDU_Tutorials ok i will try and let you know...You are doing great job...i learnt so many things from you...Thanks Professor 🙏
Yo my rendering is taking ages i have 16gb Ram and geforce gtx 780, renders ultra quick in Premiere pro though dont know why but its always slow in powerdirector when i render
No idea
Hi. I've been using powerdirector 18 without issue but suddenly its very slow and often freezes. I am 70% thru editing a feature film. If I was to reinstall the software am I likely to lose all of my work? I have saved the editing sessions on 3 different drives as backup. Thanks
Scott McKone If you don’t delete the files, move the files, or rename the files you are not likely to lose your work.
@@PDU_Tutorials A second question, if I may.... I just opened a previous version of my project with about 25% of the content of the latest session. It works fine. Would just having a large project make the software choke up? I only turn on one video track and one audio track at a time and I have not done any tweaking (used effects) yet. If the amount of content affects performance maybe I would be best to edit, tweak, export, and delete content as I go. Your thoughts?
Scott McKone The amount of content should not impact the project.
@@PDU_Tutorials Hi. I wouldve agreed but I found info on line that says it can (maybe due to so many shots in the library) and I opened a smaller previous session and it worked fine. I have a plan that should work. Thanks for your replies.
Scott McKone You’re welcome.
I need your help recovering some edits. What happened was I move my media folder to another Drive. When and where to start a PowerDirector my video clips were missing but the section where they were edited were there. So when I play back the video it would not play the missing clips. How can I recover those edit video clips on my project?
When you open the project it should ask you to connect to the missing files.
@@PDU_Tutorials. It dose but when I select the folder. It gives me and error
What's the error?
Have you tried the steps listed here? forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/21619.page
@@PDU_Tutorials, thanks I will look at it when I get home.
But if I edit the clip, a cut, a change, loses the render and I have to do it again?
Has that happened to you?
Man, I'm going to do some tests, it might be that the problem is in the part behind the mouse .... (kkkk me!)! Thanks for the reply. Att. Roberto.
So can I render it all before I start to edit it and cut it and stuff that way I don't have to see the jumping? Thanks I like it. #oldtothis. LOL
Yes, you sure can.
Calvin, are you editing with 4k? If so, I was wondering what type graphics card you're using? I tried GeForce 50Ti...no go. Maliek says rendering will help but I'm also getting video smearing & aliasing. I have not tried rendering yet but will today. Thanks!

@@PDU_Tutorials What I actually mean after we rendered the segment how can we clear/undo the rendered, meaning I don't want the part to be pre-rendered anymore.. because after exiting and comeback another time the render is still there. Is it permanent and the command can't be undone?

@@PDU_Tutorials Ok then. The timeline rendering always a helpful feature anyway. Thanks bro! PD doesn't normally render video unless you use the technique shown in this tutorial. When you use it you can't edit. Otherwise you can just keep editing and wait until you are done to Produce the final video.

Too many variables to help in a YT comment. Go to the PowerDirector Forum and start a thread explaining your issue. forum.cyberlink.com/forum/forums/list.page In the thread tell us about your project and attach a DxDIag file.
To Generate the DxDiag.txt File
Click the Windows start button and then type "DxDiag" on your keyboard.
Click on DxDiag.exe in the start menu or search area to open the program.
Once the tool is open, click "Save All Information". Name your file and then save it in a location on your computer that's easy to find, like your desktop.
