How beautiful and fascinating. I had an NDE at 19 and was greeted by my great-grandfather who was pretty much the only person I knew who had died at the time. He looked much younger and was with his favorite dog from his teen years...and I didn't see a photo of the dog until nearly a decade later as the family didn't even find the picture until then. It was such a convincing element of life after death for me. And the love I felt is why I do not fear death now. Peace to all who read this.

Hi, my name is Helen, I’m from Scotland, now 60 years old...in 2008 my Mother then 80 had gone through major bowel surgery, she became septic afterwards due to infection which started in her wound,. Her and I discussed death prior to this many times, I believed there was something after death, I had seen some things throughout life to give me this opinion, I’m a registered nurse. My Dad had died suddenly at 40 years old from cardiac arrest, recent obvious to me now MI’s missed, however I think this maybe fuelled Mums belief that we die and we are gone. The day Dad died it was November, temperature had suddenly plummeted and the snow started falling heavily, Mum years later told me she felt the snow falling felt like tears falling, she called his work who told her he had felt unwell and was on his way home, he was actually dead in car outside and found by a passing policeman. Forward on to 2008, Mum very unwell, now in heart failure, she was dying, I was closest to Mum and doctor asked what her wishes would be re resuscitation. My Mum, quite a character always said to me do not let anyone jump on my chest, I don’t want heroics I want to go peacefully, the doctor agreed but said she would try CPAP as last resort, if it didn’t work he would he,p her pass peacefully. Mum being the stubborn wee Glasgow survivor of WW2 did survive. It took a couple of days to come round but Mum said she knew she was dying, she could see all of her family but in the shadows almost like silhouettes except her own Mother who was clear and standing with her, she said Jessie (my mum) you are not coming yet it is not your time, you must go back. Mum was pretty amazed , she said you were right Helen. Forward to 2017, Mum terminally unwell, I knew her time was close, my oldest sister who had been a medical doctor but was in a care facility due to brain injuries following catastrophic fall down escalator some years before died suddenly in June of that year...Mum had dementia, she could remember the war and growing up but not what happened days or months before, she was used not to seeing my sister too frequently, I managed to get them together as much as possible but I couldn’t do that often. I decided not to tell Mum my sister had died, I knew due to her condition she would have to relive that pain daily and as she was dying herself I made that decision. On Christmas Day 2017, I had slept in chair beside Mum Christmas Eve as I knew it was imminent however on Christmas morning she felt better it told me her family were there, all deceased, she said her sister Charlotte who had died 9 years previously had sat on end of Mums bed all week, she said Mum could have Christmas Day but then it was time to come with her...suddenly Mum looked puzzled, she said Helen is our Liz dead? My automatic reply immediately was no! She said hmm Helen are you telling the truth? I lied and said Mum she isn’t dead, Mum was looking around the room, smiling, totally at peace, but kept looking at my left side, I knew she could see Liz but I didn’t want Mums last day on earth to be full of heartbreak. Mum passed away peacefully that night in her sleep. 8 weeks ago my oldest son 35 years, my best friend, confidant, was found dead, as yet we have no answers, then I knew without a doubt I had done the right thing not telling Mum her first born had died, because I did struggle a bit with that, I pray they were there to meet my boy and I’m sure in my heart they were...sorry so long just wanted to tell you x

My cousin had down syndrome. I was very young when she passed away. The day she passed on was a Wonderfully Beautiful thing. As we ccx stood around her bed at the moment of death, she told us that Jesus was standing in the room. She said, mommy, mommy, He's here,I can see Him and she was so happy and excited as she passed. She was truly happy, not scared, she was Safe and willing to go.
That was 55 years ago. She was so beautiful and kind to me.

Bless that soul that had to move on so young. Bless the courage, peace, love and happiness she found from within, and recognized around her. These descriptions of her emotions are what all of us would be lucky to have. Bless you all for being with her, and her willingness for you all to be there. I felt great sadness at first reading this to be honest, but she left a very strong and loud message upon her departure to a better place. I have no doubt that she was surrounded by love to lead her to a heavenly place and if she wanted Jesus, again no doubt his presence was there. I hardly comment publicly, and usually it’s with people I have met. You shared a personal and beautiful story. Thank you for sharing.

One thing I wonder about is in regards to reincarnation and whether if it is a choice or obligation. I like to believe that those who lived good lives could live forever in the afterlife and reincarnation is either an option for them or a requirement for those who lived bad or unfulfilled lives. Some reports I have heard about is that reincarnation is a natural cycle that all endure until they perfect themselves.

I had a car crash in 2010, i was died and return to life, i saw angel, and saw heavan, angel took me from a bottom of my car and took me thrue the big space, dark and big, i was fliying high in the sky, i saw my dead body in the car, i didnt knew yet that i'm dead, then he told me, come with me, dont worry everything will be okey, i flight very fast, this angel was so beautiful, very white, very shining like a diamond, angel was light, no eyes no details, nether woman or man, just big lightning smile, with big peace and love feeling, he took me thrue a tunnel, big long and dark tunnel, i was terrified, and saw all my life existence, my family, my birth very fastier before getting dead, then i knew i was dead, and boom, a big and a wonderfull lightning place, undescriptible place, i was looking like from a big window, it was heavan, angel showed me a big two beautiful rivers moving, near to a big beautiful tree moving also, with a lovely colorfull birds, on my right side.
On my left side, i saw a couple of angels with two kids, smiling and in divine happiness, and saw a source of water, and a big source of light, its not like a sun , it was very powerfull but not sun, it dosent hurt eyes, no warm, no hot, no cold, i was smiling and very happy there, all were withness and green colorfull spaces, all was moving and biggest, all was lightness and beautifull, there was no crying, no screaming, just peace and love, i felt a big and an unconditionnal love there, there was no feeling of time or spaces, all is moving there like a big and magic symphony, then a divine voice of this angel asked me to welcome a hug of this big tree, he told me: this is a tree of knowldege, take some of, i saw a big tree coming twards me then like he gaving me a big hug, i felt very full of new things. Then a divine voice told me : this will be your place anyway, if you accept to live with your new body and accept your illness, if you accept it, it will be your place . So my soul sad yes, i was very happy, then, the divine voice sad to me: so now, return to your body, return to life. Then i do. And from that time, i cry everyday, missing a beautifull place i've seen, i'm not anymore the same person, i live with illeness now, but very happy to have been there, heavan exist, god is too much love and love us more than anything, angels are so beautifull, lovely and magic. And i wish this place to Every believer on this earth even persons who dont believe, i cry so much for them, if only people knew what heavan is, they will cry every day all there existence. And they will understand that material life is just an illusion, heavan is more real than material life. Heavan is big, and undescriptible, a lovely and divine place where souls are in happiness and love forever. Angels are so beautifull, they are made of light, a powerfull shining light, they are just love and peace like god. I felt love of god there, and now i live with those beautifull memories of my travel, and waiting and working to get there very soon i hope.

You are looking at immortality through an adult human mind. "Boredom " comes from fatigue. when there's no fatigue, no decay, there's no time. Look at a small child, every morning is a delight to them until the world changes them.
We could never be immortal in this world, but in the right world we certainly could and, i think, we do.

It’s because a lot of people live in fear driven by ego. They think what they do on Earth will always be forgiven, so they try to control everything they assume to know that isn’t true to be false, and all things false to be true. Consciousness exists without the body, and that’s what they ultimately are afraid of. They are their own worst enemies.

However, nearly fifty years of research into NDE's has brought us to the point where we can say they are at least beyond reasonable doubt authentic and real as in true sense of the experiencers interpretation. I do appreciate also that many people may find this threatening. Death as we think of it now, as an end, is not an end at all, it's only the end of our physical bodies and in the next 10-20 years maybe we will look at death in a new light, maybe...

I remembered the music which was playing as well. When they woke me up I was able to tell them what I had seen one doctor just shrugged it off, as the other doctor seemed interested in what I witnessed and believed me. If I hadn't had experienced this how would I know that I had stopped breathing and I was able to tell them what classical music they were playing. Only the living fear death. I don’t mind dying, just don’t want to be there when it happens. Every shiny toy, that at first brings you joy, will always start to cloy and annoy. Every camera, every phone, all the music that you own, won’t change the fact you’re all alone. Every piece of land, all the cities that you’ve planned, will crumble, to tiny grains of sand. Everything you find that at first seems to shine, always turns into the same old grind - thank God we aren’t stuck here forever!

I believe everyone who has died and came back had a near death experience but most people are not going to remember the experience due to the limitations and faulty apparatus of the physical brain (the filter which veils the communication from the real world the immaterial reality). Therefore it's no surprise that most people who survived death don't report a near death experience.

It only lasts for a blink of the eye compared with Eternity. Plane was jumping we were told we couldn't land at logan , all airports were shut down, so after quite a long time and then being told to get in crash position, everything was getting thrown around and hail and snow was hitting the windows. I was sure we were going to crash and all at once a peace came over me as we were going down trying to land at saracuse new York that didnt have a long enough runway for a large jet. It was a runway for pipercubs. The generator went out and as I had pillow over my head bent down in crash position and going down a peace came over me and I saw my whole life pass before my eyes. It was like a slide show of everything that happened my whole life. When we finally hit the runway we were bumping around, went off the runway into the snow and finally came to a stop. I thought I was dead at first. I never told anybody what I experienced in my mind because I thought people would think I was crazy. Years later told my husband about it and tried to explain it to him. I don't think he ever understood it. Can someone out there please explain what happened to me. I am 75 yrs old and to this day I still remember every single detail.

I was raised in a cult that didn't believe in Jesus. I had surgery and felt myself floating out. I couldn't stop it and knew I was leaving my body. The cult didn't believe in such things. My last thought before I was free of body was, "so this is death". Suddenly I was going up to a light so bright it would have burnt physical eyes. As I was lifted pulses of unimaginable love was entering me. I got to the point of what I call well lit eternity. The brightness and love was amazing. The amazing thing to me was I knew contrary to my up bringing I was going to Jesus. No doubt of that at all. I heard my baby cry behind me. I couldn't turn my body from this amazing love but I did turn my head and saw her. I raised my arm forward and yes my old body was laying in surgery while I had a new body. I wasn't ghostly mist, I had a body I saw my arm. Several times I said, I'm not ready let me go back. Each time I said that the love entering me grew more intense. It felt so wonderful part of me wanted to go all the way, part of me wanted to go back. Finally I begged once more, let me go back, I'm not ready. I stopped and began going backwards back to the old body. I kept saying thank you thank you. I woke with a tube in my throat. My first thought was, I'm back, thank you. When I left the hospital I told my husband about my experience. The next day three elders from this church was at the house and wanted to hear this experience. Their purpose was to convince me I was wrong. This is what I told them. "If the world is blind then suddenly one persons blinders are ripped off, you say excitedly I see trees, colors, clouds, animals. No one else has seen this. They don't understand. But you know it exist". That was when they closed their bibles and walked to the door. They told my husband I was demon possessed and to divorce me. We got a divorce because I could no longer go to that church and I knew I needed to learn about who I was going to when in spirit. When my father was leaving this world his last week he kept asking me if I saw the ship. He was seeing a ship of colors we don't know here. He said it was so beautiful and each day it got closer till he saw people on it. Before he left I told him, dad the ship is here now and his eyes opened wide and he looked up and was taken.

I used to totally resonate with the “wouldn’t living forever get boring” question.
At least from the Christian perspective of heaven it is solved in my mind by the infinite depth of the complexity of god. Psalms 27 talks about gazing upon the beauty of god and inquiring in his presence forever. Of course inquiring of an infinitely complex being is impossible to comprehend, But the kicker is gods infinite beauty and goodness. If you truly believe gods beauty is infinite, it can most certainly accommodate an infinite timeline which is why Christians believe the true gift of heaven is god himself.

That's just horrible. I want to be reunited with my husband and my parents in the afterlife. If not than life makes no sense.

I had an operation at the age of 5. Now how did I remember that at this age. Well I remember riding in the back seat lying down in the lap of my mother looking up through the back windows of the street lights going along! Now next thing was on a medical trolley going down a hallway prepped for the operation but I was busting to go to the toilet! I tolled the nurse repeatedly that I had to go to the toilet now! But she ignore me but I let go, well it was upsetting or a young boys & the other nurse said to the other nurse well he tolded you so! Next thing was I was walking with this lady who lead me to a bench seat on a curved hallway of which I couldn't see the end in any direction & was tolled to wait there. There was an office down from where I was but was quiet, some people come pass me not speaking & didn't take notice of me! I seemed to be there for a while & thought they had forgotten me but the lady come out of the office & said that I was going back! I said I didn't want to go back because of the pain! She said you have to go back because it wasn't my time! Next I woke up in a sun lit room with about 6 other kids all talking a seem to be ok! Mum came to see me later & put a block of chocolate in my bedside cupboard of which I never got to have any! It wasn't for awhile that I was very luck as the Doctor tolled Mum that I had died on the table a couple of times & had to send people out to get more blood for me! I am now 73 & really don't want to live for ever & now have thought about the people l have known who have passed young & old & ask myself why me that I'm still here & they are not! Don't know where this thought came from but I think we have to keep on coming back until we get it right, what ever right is? Cheers Ray

Right = learning how to love everyone despite our differences and beliefs! When you truly love someone there are no grudges to hold and nothing to forgive. That's how God loves us! I sometimes wonder if this life is a game (or a ride as Bill Hicks would say). Maybe we choose our character like choosing a character in a board game. We enter the game knowing in advance what challenges we would like to experience. What strengths/weaknesses we would like to possess. Then to make the experience more authentic the moment we arrive in the game our memory is wiped clean so we cannot fall back on knowing the true reality of the situation. Moments of deja vu also make me wonder if I was remembering an experience from a past life.

But an afterlife would presumably not have a sense of time, hence the possibility of boredom wouldn't be an issue. That would be the worst possible outcome that I could think of. I used to be terrified of dying because so many people thought we just didn’t exist anymore. I knew though to just believe in our Heavenly Father and all would be well. I was raised in church but got away from it in my life, well it’s time to return. Go back to my roots so to speak. I’ve never really been religious but so many things are about to change. I watched a couple of NDE’s where the individual went to hell and it has quiet literally scared me to death. They say there are as many hell NDE’s as there are Heavenly NDE’s but most people are scared to report them. I guess some people don’t want others to know or may judge them if they did so they keep quiet about those. Yet they are the ones people need to hear the most. It could help so many change their ways. All God wants us to do is live by the 10 commandments and to love and be kind to each other and have compassion for one another. Yet so many find it difficult to do and I’m not absolving myself.

As a "high sensitive person" you are able to "feel" beyond your bound body-awareness, beyond your physical boundaries, you know things that the other person considers as hidden. I don't know of seeing things like numbers, that's certainly empirical evidence of an outer body experience, but knowing more than you can see, hear or smell is something a high sensitive person don't need to have a "near death experience" for.

In one visit I had back in 2009 I was wanting to go with my visitors because of the love I felt, a love that is so hard to describe in human words, but this visit was different and I didn’t like most of it at all:(. Addressing the question why doesn't everyone in a near death context report experiencing a near death experience, as John's student asked--of course we can't know the answer definitively, but one possible answer is that maybe they all DID have NDEs, but just don't remember them, in the same way not everyone remembers their dreams, at all, often, or always. It's also possible that many more people have had near death experiences than the 5 to 10 % of people who reportedly did, but that they didn't want to talk about them or report them, for whatever reason (stigma of being thought crazy, etc). So many variables.
At any rate, this is a very interesting and beautifully thought out talk. Thanks for posting!

    3 Levels of Reality:
    1) Physical World - only real to those living in real world. Illusionary to spiritual dimension & Source.
    2) Spiritual/Soul World - also illusionary as souls see themselves operating separately from Source thru multiple reincarnations.
    3) Source - only true reality. An energy field we call Source/God in which thoughts manifest illusionary creations in which Source experiences itself.

One theory about NDEs are that they are a result of dmt being released during dying. There have been ndes where people born blind see during NDEs. I think a study on DMT on the born-blind would be a good way to test whether DMT produces the same sight effect as an NDE.

Your future environments are also not limited to this one planet...this one dimension. What sect of Buddhists were you referring to in that study? I am a Buddhist and my understanding of "selflessness" is much different than what you tried to express. We do NOT believe that the "self" is "annihilated" at the time of the Death transition. I suggest that you study Tibetan Buddhism.
The Catholics you referred to may experience their "fear" AT the time of Death! In my experience, no one has studied Death more than Buddhists (in general, and Tibetan Buddhists in particular), and no one is better prepared for the actual "death experience" than are Buddhists, Hindus, and skilled, experienced meditators.

As a person I stood out the most as a happy playful outgoing child(age 12 and younger). But I did not age well…
I was born with Asperger’s Syndrome and had a troublesome uninspired life with peers, especially when it robbed me of getting the so called “big picture”, causing me to miss out on soccer and karate, two major regrets of my life.
I began having a poor school life since 8th grade after a big round kid took something I said as a joke too seriously and it got another student who was formerly my partner suspended before he could be in the middle school graduation.
I ended up mostly as a loner in high school, especially when I got transferred to a different school away from friends, and my former partner kept me from being with a friend group who offered to be friends with me.
I still have social struggles to this day because of Asperger’s.
I even got tinnitus ear ringing and bruxism which caused gum recessions and worn teeth(especially owed to my dentists neglecting) that now deprives me of my pure smiles I used to have.
I do not mind living a short lifespan as the lifelong curse that is the Asperger’s Syndrome I was born with has brought me regrets and misfortune with multiple cases of missed opportunities that I would never recover from.
I’m afraid that even having kids would mean passing this dangerous syndrome onto anyone else and they’ll turn out like…like me. A happy child tricked by the syndrome into being a dull loner.
I also haven’t been the same since I’ve been moved away from my home since the beginning of 5th grade, I hated how I was moved away from my hometown where more of my family and friends were. I plan to one day live the last times of my life there like I should stayed there and developed instead of experiencing my enemies from the other town I moved to.
I wouldn’t be sure if reincarnation is real, and if it is there greatest challenge to that is starting all over as a different person with no memory of my previous incarnation, but the only hope is not being born with Asperger’s as it is an evil curse that deprived you from fitting in a majority of the time with peers you really want to talk to and interact with properly, among them were two of my cousins from my dad’s side of the family whom I barely interacted with during middle and high school.

Hey buddy, that sounds a bit like my life. I wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's but I was very shy and introverted and sensitive. I've wanted to play music from an early age but my shyness prevented me from doing so. But hey, these things don't really matter. The past and future don't exist. The only thing that exists is the present moment. Stop all the worries and be happy now. Maybe you're not the most sociable person, but that's ok. There are other things you must enjoy. Best wishes and much love

We lived previously as God's spirit children. We had the choice to receive a mortal body and come to live on this earth, with all the trials. You will someday leave your body to the earth, your spirit was perfect to begin with and what joy it will be to be freed of it. We are here to learn to become like our Father in Heaven by following Jesus, his son's example. He will wiped away all tears. We chose to come here, even if those bodies weren't perfect. Everyone born on the earth will someday have a resurrected perfect body. Can you imagine the joy. There are endless things to learn and enjoy in the eternities. We will never get bored. No one seems to want to come back, unless they want another chance to better their lives or they are told they have to complete their mission on earth. 100 years of trial here is nothing to compare to the glories of eternity. Someday we will have the answers of "why" certain things happened.

He was checking my pulse and started yelling there's no pulse. I was looking down on him and was yelling at him to put me down. I could here the intercom calling code blue and saw two teenage girls staring at me that just entered the room. I saw a man rush in with a stretcher and the nurse holding me up drug me towards him. They got me on and was rushing me through the doors. As soon as the doors opened I felt my soul reenter my body. They were rushing me down a brightly colored hall and after I recovered I saw the nurse who held me up and asked him why he didn't lay me down when I asked him to. - Almost every NDE tells that there is no time "there". A "no-time zone" solve also the problem of "eternity backward" that is a serious logic problem. So no "boring" eternity.
    - Once i asked an "expert" if living for eternity would have been terribly boring. He said "think about one of those days, as a kid, in which you were so happy that you wished would never end. Thats it"
    - The alternative of living forever is being dead forever ... the choice is simple here.
    - The excuse "we will not suffer anymore" just does not work , being nothing forever is much much worse.

Even Jesus talked about reincarnation and it is recorded in the new testament. In one instance, Jesus was talking about Elijah, and the Apostles said, "but wasn't Elijah supposed to return?" To which Jesus said, "but Elijah has returned but the people did not recognize him!" And the Apostles took this to mean that Elijah was John the Baptist! Other things Jesus said can only be understood from the concept of reincarnation. The beatitudes a case in point. Jesus said, "blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!" As a Christian, I could never understand that statement, but after being in four separate religions, I understood it perfectly!

It is not possible or natural to live in a physical flesh and blood body any longer than the medicine or regiment available to it has to offer lets it. Death is the beginning of life. Transcendence from physical to metaphysical is nothing we are capable of understanding in a physical body. No one should fear death or to pass from this life to the other side. I study NDEs and the people almost always have the same message of complete peace with others, a connection to everything at a constant with nothing at all to be uncomfortable with. Pure love and bliss. It seems as returning to the body is sometimes a choice, something they have not completed or an unfortunate accident and it is simply not their time. Some cases involve only being out of and seeing your body and temporarily need to leave it for a short time. Some messages involve while the mortal individual is upon earth that every action one person takes/does has an everlasting effect on the rest of the world like a ripple. This message is powerful...

I have actually net with a person who had an NDE. She was the grandmother of one of my children's friends. Unfortunately, it wasn't a positive NDE - it was horrific for her, so much so she only stated that the afterlife was horrible and refused to talk about it and she plummeted into depression.

My apologies, I did not get this notification. I did not comment on a bad place NDE as my comment was not intended for that. I have studied the NDEs of an extremely grim place. We can only take what experience each has to tell us. I have come across many. Personally, I must believe omnipotence is responsible for the creation, guidance, fate of each spirit/soul and at the mercy of it. That being said I can only find perfection behind everything. I see that a bad place encounter in the metaphysical is like a wake up call. There are stories of this place is where one is going if they do not change their ways. Sometimes one is just in a dark void of nothingness and aware of it with a sense of dread and that this is what timeless eternity is they're fate with no hope at all, they feel it. I question what the person you speak of could tell us and a shame to hide it. Most people have something unfinished, something to do, a message of some kind or a choice as I said. Usually a person that was before a terrible person becomes a "kitten" with a fearless desire let the world know. Cheers, Doug...

two comments. The shorter human lifespan in earlier history has a great deal to do with high child and infant mortalities being counted in the average. Many adults did indeed live to reasonably advanced age, if they survived childhood. Second comment: I considered the tedium of eternity as a child and determined that since time is relative, If we continue in a non physical world than perhaps an instant would be no different than eternity and we would have no concept of measured time.

When you said men liked the idea of immortality better than woman, I just immediately thought that is because men probably have a feeling of greater safety in the world than women. Because it is normal, I think many women do not realize all the steps they take to ensure their safety in the world (being watchful of men around her, locking doors, not going out at night to certain places perhaps, etc...) whereas men generally may think less of that. So living in the world for a long time may seem more positive to a man due to feeling more safe.

if a human being could live an infinite life, would he fight for his will as much as he does by knowing that he might have a limited time? I believe that he won't. Also, if reincarnation is real and each life is a field where to learn, then isn't it like having an endless life? In a way we could already be immortal withouth knowing it. Death is perhaps only a transformation.
