"Heir" is an exergeration. Anichi Miyagi was Chojun Miyagi's last student, and was exposed to the latest ways of training and ideas of Chojun Miyagi before he died.
Miyagi Chojun never named an "Heir" to his system. In 1925, he demonstrated with Jitsui Yogi in Japan..he then gave permision for Jitsui Yogi to start Goju-Kai with Yamaguchi Gogen...(Yamaguchi Gogen actually learned Goju Ryu from Jitsui Yogi). Miyagi Chojun made Yogi a "Shihan" in 1928. Miyagi Chojun also made Jinan Shinzato a teacher to represent him in public demonstrations and teaching seminars but Shinzato died in 1945 during the war. The other senior students were Miyazato Eichi (who was more a Judoka) who trained for about 4 years then went to work as a police, Meitoku Yagi who also learnt for 4 years and then left to go to work..and Koshin Iha...they all learnt for about 4 years daily then when they were 20 they went to work...coming back on and off to train. That was the old Okinawan way. Every normal student learnt for 4 years on a daily basis few hours every day, for 4 years...about 3 kaishu katas each, Sanchin and Tensho. Only the Inheritor learnt for more than 8 years. So, if anybody was inheritor, it could be Shinzato or Jitsui Yogi but Chojun Miyagi never said so.
One Year before Chojun Sensei passed away he was interviewed by the newspapers and he named his official students (he taught many many people, but he only saw as true disciples/inheritors a select few.) And the newspaper published the following names:
Jitsui Yogi, Meitoku Yagi, Eichi Miyazato, Jinaan Shinzato, Koshin Iha, Seiko Higa.
At the time, Anichi Miyagi only learnt for 2.5 years and did not make it into the list. Subsequently he did learn for 4 years but Chojun Miyagi died before he was ever asked if Anichi also counted as his inner disciple.
Subsequently From these students were born the main Goju Ryu organizations: the original Goju-Kai of Japan (Not Yamaguchi's Goju Kai), the Meibukan, and the Jundokan. Anichi Miyagi and Uehara Ko, Seiko Kina were all part of the Jundokan, so was Morio Higaonna. Anichi Miyagi was the junior instructor who taught the beginners at Jundokan so he taught Morio Higaonna. Therefore Officially Morio Higaonna recognizes 2 senseis - Eichi Miyazato (Who gave Morio Higaonna his 5th Dan rank and Meikyo Certificate or graduation certificate) and Anichi Miyagi who taught Morio Higaonna from White Belt to around Shodan level.
From Morio Higaonna came the organization IOGKF which was formed in 1978. Initially, Seiko Kina, Uehara Ko, JKF Goju Kai, Furugen, Yogi were all senior consultants to the IOGKF....but soon they left the advisory role because, one suspects, they disputed Higaonna's book on Goju-Ryu, which was published in 1980.
The first all dojo organization for Goju Ryu was the OGKK in the 1950s. Originally every senior student of Chojun Miyagi were advisors of the OGKK. The Jundokan used to be the HQ dojo of the OGKK. Then there was a falling out, Yagi and Higa broke away very quickly. JKF Gojukai remains a member of OGKK till this day and associated to the Jundokan. BUT Yamuguchi Gogen broke away to form his Goju Kai in 1950s.
Today, the IOGKF represents the Goju Ryu with the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai. It is the largest Goju Ryu Organization in the world and Morio Higaonna is recognized by the Cultural Ministry of Japan as the inheritor of Goju-Ryu.
The Lineage recognized by the government is thus
RyuRyuKo - Kanryo Higaonna - Chojun Miyagi - Anichi Miyagi + Eichi Miyazato - Morio Higaonna (Official representative of the Goju-Ryu with the Nihon Government).
    This are historical facts.

The Japanese person introducing them in the video did not say "heir". No one else does either except for the Russian guy pushing his own weird ideas.

I always love to read what you write! But I have a couple of questions, If I may...?
"In 1925, he demonstrated with Jitsui Yogi in Japan". Was not Yogi born in 1912? That would make him 13.
"Miyagi Chojun made Yogi a "Shihan" in 1928". Again, would he not have been only 16 at the time?
"the original Goju-Kai of Japan (Not Yamaguchi's Goju Kai)". I suppose that you mean the organisation that Gogen was a part of (and leading) until 1973?
I have heard so many different stories why Gogen was asked to leave JFK Gojukai. What is your theory? Perhaps this?
"The first all dojo organization for Goju Ryu was the OGKK in the 1950s" As I understand it JFK Gojukai was not a part of the OGKK until Gogen left. COuld that have been a reason for the disagreement? That Yogi, Uehara (Yukinori) and others wanted to be a part of the OGKK, but Gogen wanted to be the Senior Master, which he would not have been in that company in Okinawa?

Miyazato Eiichi: "Aniichi Miyagi was my student [Miyazato's student]. He came to Miyagi Chojun to study with him, but he only trained for a short time and Miyagi Chojun died. Aniichi Miyagi came to train under me. He trained with Miyagi Chojun under my direction for maybe one-year. Aniichi Miyagi was never recognized as a student of Miyagi Chojun. He was only 22 years old at the time of Miyagi’s death."

I was a student of Goju karate.
Chojun Miyagi = Gogen Yamaguchi = Gurmit Singh = Me

This is the ONLY truth about An ichi Miyagi. I am appalled that anyone would try and propagate this myth that he was a direct student of GM Miyagi. Either way, Miyazato Sensei made the facts quite clear. But to add that he is "heir"??? That's fucking absurd. Pardon the expletive.

@@areitomusic Wasn't Morio Higaonna Sensei a student of Anichi Sensei. So where does that leave things, surely Higaonna is the real deal

The heir...??? Are you crazy???? Who tell you this falsehood???? An'Ichi practice with Miyagi just 3 or 4 years. When Miyagi pass away, An'Ichi was 20 years old. In this day, great master like Miyazato Ei'Ichi training hard in the Miyagi garden dojo. Do you think that a man as Miyagi Chojun inherit his art to an adolescent???? Really????

The ‘heir’ was a statement the presenter chose and erred in making.

@@davidjagger3475 In Japanese, he did not say anything like that. He just said "Miyagi Sensei". This is bullshit that the Russian guy made up. In fact, Higaonna sensei and no one says that he is the sole "inheritor" of Gohu-ryu. It is a ridiculous straw man.
