It's nice to watch this and think: it's not a bad soldering job he's doing. But then you put your finger next to it and see how insanely small the prongs are!! Well done! Love it!
these videos have the same appeal as the early content i saw from ave where he'd tear down cheap/disposable tools and explain why they're garbage. great content!
Hey Mate. I'm from USA and found u 2 nights ago. I been binge watching your channel lol I fix machines on my channel and love every minute, getting something broken , troubleshooting and fixing. Even though we fix different stuff I say we're the same. Your just a bit cleaner lol. Keep up the great content ill be watching. DaVE lol
Just wanted to let you know I've been going through your vids and loving them. Couple other names popped in to my algorithm, but don't enjoy them like your videos. The awesome T-shirts, great taste in music, and some good singing... now and again. You've compelled me to order up some new sharp probes for my multimeter and a tube of flux. Keep up the great work man, really mean it!
Amazing! Thank you! This is exactly the issue I've got with my Vidal Sassoon Unbound which is an excellent beauty tool device but with this issue makes it a paperweight, I didn't want to throw it away and I didn't want to spend $200 on a new one when I can bloody SEEEEE the port rattling around and trying to come back down into the micro USB port hole in the casing plastic. Stupid planned obsolesce. Was an instant subscribe for me. Going to get my Engineer husband onto this for a 'fun' weekend project for him and get this fixed up hahahah
Loving the channel mate. I've watched through everything now. This fix was a nice easy one eventually.....The amount plastic cuts i've endured taking fiddly things like that apart are numerous.
I was watching an episode of Mr. Carlson's Lab (highly recommend, however this guy is an expert). There was a curling iron sitting on his chair saying "fix me" left by his wife. So he fixed it before moving on to the actual subject of the episode. Loved this episode.
Truly appreciate your video. Helped me take apart my wife's device so I can try to repair it. Unfortunately for me it's 2 years old and a chip was fried. Heh but still loved the experience. Thanks again for the guidance.
No idea how a pad would come loose like that, but glad it was still connected, could have been a much harder job. I'm glad I'm not the only one that jumps straight in trying to pry things open. 🤣 Great video as always.
Love the content, well done on repair the pad not attached could be a orphan pan just on its own 🥺 and does nowt, these pads come loose all the time hope
I got one that dose not work and the company never returned our messages about it and was wondering if it was ever the battery and more . Wish the company would give answers to it all . I got another one that will not keep the charge . The cutler is wonderful just needs to figure it out why they have so many issues with charge part . Wish I knew how to get mine fixed so I can use them . Thanks for sharing this
Hey mate, im glad you have a fume extractor now! I was wondering how you were tolerating the smell. From the videos it looks like you are doing all the repair work in your house and I know how that smell can linger. I have been yelled at from my wife to "take that stinking mess outside!" So here's to the fume extractor working well. Cheers mate!
@@StezStixFix that's good to hear. Also when you turned it on and jumped it had me and my 11 year old son laughing. We really enjoy watching you and please keep making these amazing videos!
You are Permanently gettin better , PS your hair too , waitting from your next video repair ,the termafrost , cheers from françe , PERMAcurli , rof ;=)
Good thing you got that fume extractor. I was beginning to hallucinate being trapping in epoxy then being subjected to colorful commentary about repairing electronics. also...touch, touch, touch, touch... ...you can't tell me not to touch something, then place them -right next- to me. :P
9:49 Hahaha I honestly wish I could hear what you actually said, love how you look at it with disgust twirling around as if the beauty thing was used for something more...naughty. 😂
I have two of these things. It charges fully and turns on but then the battery immediately dies. They sent me the second one as a replacement but it’s dead now too. Now I might actually see if I can fix it!
I feel like the connector could use some epoxy to hold it down since the anchor points were already lifting. But nice repair nonetheless! Stchupid crazy beauty thing.
Hi Steve, please could you tell me the make / model of your microscope and if possible the company you purchased it from. Great videos keep them coming. Thanks Barry.
The fact that this device also has a USB output kept me thinking. Every USB chargeable device should have that, so that in case of emergency, you could prioritise and charge your phone from the razor's battery while traveling!
@@timobecker7540 No, absolutely not. But I have been in so many situations where I needed to charge my phone, didn't have any socket or power bank near by, but something like a razor in my toiletry bag. In situations like these, you will be happy to pass on the shave but make that emergency call with a charged battery.
Hey steve! As a new sub and a nerd through and through, I really enjoy the content you create! I’m looking to do electronic repair as well and I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind making a video about what tools you use? I looked on amazon for just tweezers and the prices vary so much that I’d rather just use the ones that work for you! I hope to hear back from ya brotha. Keep up the awesome work, much love from Texas 🤠 -Spencer
Thanks, Jim! Every time he breaks out the leaded solder I'm immediately worried for his health. I immediately said OH NO when I saw the clip get melted. Don't know why, it's just a clip. XD
I hope this won't escalate into a fundamental debate, but considering the low vapor pressure of lead and its boiling point of around 1750 °C you're not going to inhale lead vapor during soldering. The real problem is prolonged exposure to flux fumes and the physical handling of lead solder and leaded solder joints (gloves are a thing). The fume extractor (in this case it looks like a plain active carbon filter in front of a fan, which is totally fine if regularly replaced) takes care of the majority of flux fumes. Lead? Not so much. Nonetheless - thanks Jim!
Hey Steve and Steve fans alike! I'm looking for a certain episode of yours where you fix a device and use a product to fix up a scratched screen. I can't for the life of me remember which device/episode it was, nor which product. I have a slightly scratched up PS Vita I'm looking to fix and I'm shopping around for what product to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Love the content and keep it up.
It is the second video with the Neo Geo Pocket (end of the video) and the product name is Polywatch. Beware because apparently there is fake ones selling online
Do you accept submissions for fixing? I’ve got a huge battery pack with knackered usb and usb c ports that I can’t use any more, but it would be so easy to sort!
I have a Phillips AT890 aqua shave that-won’t power up. Battery seems ok. Bought a new charger. No luck. As it stills does switch on so I am out. If you are interested I would send it to you. Would be interested to see you diagnose it.
Is there a community here? Cant seen to find it. Forum, Discord? Looking to share ideas and ask for ideas on a few things and the people that watch Stez seem like the sort of people this would be good for.
Hey Steve, i am stuck in a issue regarding identification of an IC on my 3 axis gimbal can you help please. Would love to share all the info on the email.
How on earth do companies get away with something leaving the factory like that? Looked like that pin was never properly connected to that pad, I wouldhavehad me ear clipped , letting that get past QI lol 😆 😅 😂. Another informative video, oh and I didn't skip past the rapping lol 😆 😄 😉 x
My wife's Tribit Xsound Go isn't charging or switching on. I'd love to get it fixed for her, if we can figure a way of getting it to you and collecting it once fixed, would you like to do a video of it?

Love that VOS has a very good understanding of old school hip hop and clever bars
Very interesting! I don't think I would have got that device open without destroying the plastics. You are a legend.
Thanks Tidder! It was really awkward, that's for sure! 😬
OMG Tidder of song fame! 🤣

Greetings from Portugal. You never fail to make me smile. Love your videos. Never stop ! You Rock !!!
Oh I do love your videos Steve 1 a week is killing me please make more
I wonder how much of the world's waste would be avoided if electronics makers actually added just some minimal strain relief to USB connectors
Absolutely! It has to be the most common fault on faulty devices! 👍
If it used through hole it would have been much more robust.
yea but then you wouldn't buy another one after a year 🤔
but that might cost them 0.0001p worth of solder!!😮
The makers want the device to fail. More profits.
only discovered your channel a few days ago and love the variety of things you fix. Keep it up.
I thought the fume extractor was going to be for the impending burnt perm. So much disappointment. 😂
VO Steve shredding with a vengeance, beautiful!
🤣 I should probably invest in a fire extinguisher too! 😂

Agreed - but be careful with the epoxy. That stuff loves to creep into the jack.
How do you source your items for repair? Would love to see some info on your acquisition process.
Ebay, type "faulty" and filter your searches by whatever you like.
