- Mushaira, which has seen a revival of sorts in recent times, is a gathering where Urdu poetry is recited by a group of poets. It has had a long tradition in Urdu culture and has evolved considerably in the last four centuries. What was once an event meant only for the royals and elites has now found popularity amongst the general public.
Munawwar Rana, Ravish Kumar, Satyapal Anand and Ali Akbar Natiq sharing their views on the role Mushaira plays in promoting Urdu poetry and the process of its evolution and how it stands today.
Jashn-e-Rekhta, is the world's largest Urdu festival held annually in Delhi.

I.understand,he also directed Glass Menagerie at the Englsh Dept.of Panjab University.later on. Two years before when I saw this video,I had no idea who Ali Akbar Natik was!!And now I have read almost all his work either in fiction or poetry!!!Short stories(Two volumes),Two novels,3 nazm books one ghazal book!!!Without a shadow of doubt I can say that he is the best versatile Urdu writer in the current era!!!!Natik should have been allowed to speak more about the topic!!!!

यह बहुत पुराना कार्यक्रम है पर मेरे लिए तो नया ही है क्यूंकि इसे मैं पहली बार देख सुन रहा था। बहुत ही उम्दा कार्यक्रम था। रवीश जिस बेफिक्री से मुन्नवर राणा से गुफ्तगू कर रहे थे उनका यह अंदाज अच्छा लगा। शेष दो शायरों को मै पहले से जनता नही पर उनकी उपस्थिति कार्यक्रम को महत्वपूर्ण बना रही थी। साधुवाद।

An informative , interesting and sad to know that urdu, A beautiful language is deteriorating in India and Pakistan. Ravish kept the sitting interesting with his light jokes. Professor Anand, poetry in the background gloomy atmosphere was very impressive.

You are right and the key is " Host " should not have to impose his views rather he should let the guest talk more. He is an " anchor " another minus point and he should ask Short Intelligent questions.
Panel was very much mushaira shanas!!!If there was a knowledge possessed Urdu host like zamurrad Mughal then he would have got maximum out of the guests present there!!!!

Didn't expect this from Raveesh about Rahat Indori - He is one of the greatest shayar of all times. Raveesh may be agreat anchor but clearly he has no idea about poetry. Rahat is exceptionally great.
