My first rifle was a B.S.A back in the late 70's early 80's and today i drove to a shop and picked up a new Weihrauch HW99S which is unbelievably accurate out of the box with a tiny barrel clean first. Only thing i need to get used to and eventually like is the safety catch/button which i think suits a lefty better than a righty. Nice shooting there 👍
My first rifle is a late British built Tactical Lighting in .22, bought from a friend at a really good price. If you can get an earlier totally British one they make a nice little rifle, much like your Meteor. Apparently the later Spanglish ones are far worse.
@@gardenguns, I’ve got to agree, having picked up a 1909 Model D, and MK3 Super Meteor, they all shoot beautifully. My fave, the Model D, never thought I’d shoot open sighs, but with that one I can.
Day 6 👍 a good honest overview of that rifle I have a BSA Lightning (SE?) XL .22 bought 2nd hand from an RFD in Exeter about 17 years ago. Apparently the original owner had had a problem with it and it’d gone back to BSA. After that he lost faith in the rifle so traded it in. I have to say it’s been absolutely fine although it’s not a refined air rifle. Seems to like RWS Superfields. Also have a BSA Supersport .22 which is over 30 years old. I stand corrected if wrong but…..I believe BSA were bought by the Spanish company Gamo some years ago and BSA’s were made over there but in more recent times manufacturing was restarted back in the UK. Any new or more recently purchased models were therefore produced in Birmingham, England. Still enjoy shooting the old springers (as well as my newer PCP’s) but have recently started considering buying a better quality Springer. Will have to see what 2025 brings eh?
@@nickwebb9290 BSA were indeed bought by Gamo. A lot of the production was moved to Spain. Not sure what is currently produced in the UK, but I do believe the cold hammer forged barrels were made in Birmingham.
Never owned or shot a BSA Springer, I believe they are made by Gamo in Spain🤔 I have owned a BSA Ultra SE Cayenne since 2018,but as far as springer go, I'm firmly in the Weihrauch & Air Arms camps, with my Hw80k & TX200hc, although I have been looking for a budget springer recently & I quite like the new BSA Meteor Super which is made in Birmingham, has a nice looking stock, good review though chap😁👍
Got a GRT in 22. Nasty, harsh and spiteful to shoot. Incredibly hold sensitive. 16ftlb action throttled down to 12ftlb with a tiny transfer port. Eventually made good with short stroke 25mm piston and a spring rather than the gas ram, Charlie Da Tuna trigger, plus the longer Lightning barrel. There are a lot of rifles that you'd be better off buying, to be honest.
The "WULF", 2-7 x32 AO Mildot is a great Budget Scope and is Springer Rated for around the £30 odd mark. I actually Won this on the "Vin's Basic Airguns" channel Giveaway, he doesn't use rubbish, and a great one especially for the "Garden". Have a Look, he knows what he's on about !!

Great rifle to shoulder mine was very accurate with super field let down by its harsh recoil and rubbish heavy trigger i think this rifle would be hard to beat if it had a tune up like the 99s an new trigger but I couldn’t find anyone who would touch it so i got rid
