Hell Yes. I always say, "Hey man that is yours", then they get the pleasure of catching the 1st fish. Then I know I gave a gift to someone during their lifetime. I could care less what I catch and when I catch it. Watching the joy on a person face is good for me... I have handed over the rod to a person on a charter when it turned out to be the only catch of a 10 hour fishing trip. Couldn't have been more happy that they came out on top!!!
The Clubfoot Tribe that is awesome. I had a similar experience. I was catching shads, then this guy brought his little daughter with him. They didnt catch a single fish all day. And i can see that look on the little girl’s face. I set the hook, then walked over to her and offered her to handle the catch. She was estatic and i even offered her to keep the fish! Oh man, she was so happy. And that makes mw felt way better than catching all of those shads!!

I’ve never fished for salmon but I’m a moderate fly fisherman and I’m surmising from your comment regarding the extra pulse of speed, or change in direction of your, fly, lure, in that it can trigger a following salmon to go for it and strike. I know That It works for trout it looks like it works for their big cousins . I can remember when I took my son in law trout fishing for his first time, he was so excited, when he caught his first fish, I told him to dispatch it. Meaning use the priest, he stomped on it instead. he looked like he was doing a rain dance! I made sure his fish with the boot prints on it went in his bag. Lol.

The brown meat on the salmon isn't bad at all! True...it is where PCB's can build up but that is primarily a concern with farmed salmon and not wild caught. The wild caught dark meat is perfectly safe to eat and actually has a higher concentration of omega 3 fats than the rest of the meat.
