The genuine aristocracy - those born into their money and titles - are not snobs at all. Perfectly normal people with normal qualities and flaws of character but never arrogant or condescending.

I had no idea that the tax payer was funding and giving tax breaks to the prestige Public schools did you? That must stop for a start.

Having looked at the polls and the split in votes and crucially the concentration of support across the country my prediction for seats is as follows.
    TORY - 210 seats
    LABOUR - 190 seats
    BREXIT - 100 seats
    LIBDEM - 90 seats
    SNP - 50 seats.
This means a minority government and given complexion a Labour minority government with support conditional on 2 referenda , one for Libdem support on Brexit and the other for SNP support on Indyref2.
Or a very short parliament and another GE. So all the gridlock of parliament is going to be transferred to the whole country!

Yes , it doesn’t make sense, shall we have a people’s general/ or an ordinary general election , and then have a second general election to properly decide the first one ..And then would parliament agree on that , probably not .. so by these standards nothing is ever decided...Wich is exactly where we are now ..?..innit though .

He is somewhat lacking in charisma isn't he. Given a choice of next door neighbour between Bojo and Jezza though I wouldn't pick the blonde buffoon.
His policies (some of them at least) however have a good deal more appeal than the man does.
I suspect the 'serf mentality' still has a firm grip on the English public's psyche. They don't feel comfortable having the bloke next door as their leader. The most successful Labour leader of all time was Tony Blair and he had a plum firmly lodged in his palate.

    • @MsZeeZed

lb fourtwenty 1. He looks in better shape than BJ who clearly has a comfort eating disorder. 2. He one of the few politician’s who has consistently voted with his conscience rather than toe a line for promotion’s sake 3. Since BJ has become PM JC has won more votes than him. 4. Since becoming LotO he has operated the Labour Party on a consesus basis. However, he had to make a snap decision when BJ offed the whip back to 10 Tories backfilling the DUP loss, so its BJ that fell for this, as JC took away that advantage before he could use it, those are qualities of a Leader; BJ shows all the hallmarks of a USA Quisling (traitor). Just to put it into perspective I’m hard remain. I’ve voted Labour in every GE (except my 1st, were like 1,000s of other Labour voters on Party instruction I voted LD to remove a Con sitting MP by those exact votes) I vote for Green MEPs as they are a much stronger political force within the EU. JC was elected leader in a fair vote, he’s acted in the interests of the socialist wing of the Party & he’s a damn good campaigner helping to personally take down numerous Tory seats & councils. He also rightly trusts the Libs as far as he could spit a rat. Stop belly-aching & get on the doorstep for the GE.

'Secondly, in 2018, the figures tell us that Scotland’s GDP was boosted by around £3,000 per person simply because of a geographic share oil and gas output being included in the Scottish figures.'
At a UK level that boost to the economic statistics is equivalent to around £300 per person.'

'' The document gave a highly favourable projection for the economy of an independent Scotland with a *chronic surplus* to a quite embarrassing degree and its currency would become *the hardest in Europe* with the exception of the Norwegian kroner. This led successive iterations of the British government to classify the McCrone report as "secret". This was so to avoid fuelling independence sentiment in Scotland.
Professor McCrone stated that Scotland's GDP would *increase by around 20%* if North Sea oil were counted as part of it.
In an interview for Holyrood Magazine on 19 May 2013, ex-Labour chancellor Denis Healey (who served in the Cabinet at the time the McCrone Report was submitted) stated: "I think we did underplay the value of the oil to the country because of the threat of [Scottish] nationalism... Look, I don't know what is going to happen, but certainly a hung Parliament, and a repeat of the Brexit extension game is at least possible, if not probable, in January. Since people right now are talking as if a no-deal scenario is off the table, I would presume that something like an extension of the Benn Amendment would again take it off for January and beyond.
If so, think carefully about why the EU, in defining a Flextension, slipped in a stipulation that the UK could unilaterally cancel Brexit altogether any time before the deadline. Suppose Parliament won't approve the current withdrawal plan, no-deal is off the table, and the EU doesn't grant a further extension. I'm sure as heck not a treaty lawyer, but it would seem that then the PM would be REQUIRED to cancel Brexit altogether.
I have my own preferences about the outcome, but they aren't particularly relevant here. I'm just pointing out a possible scenario that people should examine.
