      CRT is not taught in any K-12 school. CRT a 40 year old theory, written by Harvard lawyers, about systemic racism in government and law. It is way too complicated of a topic, even for average parents who don't understand law, and will not be taught to kids in K-12. Its not a K-12 subject. Republican's are using CRT to create an anger issue because angry people vote and there is a election coming up for Virginia Governor and a 2022 election soon.

    • @j.lingle4713
      @j.lingle4713 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@obijuan3004 - Kimberley Crenshaw, who coined the term, stated: “It`s a way of looking at race. ... And the point of critical race theory originally was to think and talk about how law contributed to the subordinate status of African-Americans, of indigenous people, and of an entire group of people who were coming to our shores from Asia.” She notes that CLASSIC Critical Race Theory is a law school class. That’s semantics. They’re not teaching a class about classic CRT; they’re teaching everything through a CRT lens. It’s a disingenuous argument.

    • @obijuan3004
      @obijuan3004 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@j.lingle4713 I don't support CRT being taught to kids K-12, and it is not in any public school anywhere. SO to make the bogie man believable the CRT definition is expanding to Race, Equity and other terms which CRT is not. CRT is a 40 year old theory created by Harvard Lawyers about systemic racism in government, society and law. Most of CRT is outdated because the laws have massively changed since 1970. I was around in 1970, a black person could not walk in my neighborhood in 1970 or they would be arrested. So while CRT was, in many ways, valid in 1970, it is college level material that even most parents would not understand, unless they had a law background. It is not K-12 classroom material, it is college material like Calculations of Quantum Entanglement.
      There is no LENS of CRT, that's nonsense. Racism is part of American History, so it will come up in classrooms as part of teaching history, unless you want to remove slavery, and Jim Crow from history. THAT IS NOT CRT, it is not a CRT lens nor is it indoctrination... its just history. History that is being used for political gain.
      The person who created this issue, is Ian Prior a Fox News contributor, who was an employee for American Crossroads republican Super PAC, and he was national press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee.
      What he and the republican party are doing is creating an anger issue where there is none, because angry voters vote. There is an upcoming vote for Virginia Governor, and this is also a test for the 2022 elections. Its all voter manipulation, as angry voters vote more often, I know this song and dance, I was in the GOP for 30 years.
      See Ian Prior.. www.foxnews.com/person/p/ian-prior

      @j.lingle4713 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@obijuan3004 - A few things...
      What neighborhood do/did you live in where a black person was arrested in the 1970s for merely walking through that neighborhood? What were the charges? I know a lot of poor white neighborhoods that black people wouldn’t have been safe walking through back then and some poor black neighborhoods that many white people wouldn’t be safe walking through.
      Even Crenshaw notes that CRT created a lens/way/means by which to view race. The same way that Critical Queer Theory created a lens/means/way by which to view sexual orientation and its relationship to power, and Critical Feminist Theory created a lens/means/way by which to view the oppression of women.
      There is a difference between teaching K-12 students about history - including racism, slavery, Jim Crow laws, sexism, etc. (which schools do, btw, and have done for as long as I can remember) - and teaching these students that they personally are oppressors/oppressed, victimizers/victims, etc. It is not fair for either white or black students - it tells white children that they are to blame for the sins of people who share their skin color (who aren’t even necessarily their ancestors), and it tells black children that they are currently being oppressed and cannot achieve, which creates a defeatist mindset. The outcome is divisive.
      Ian Prior may be amplifying this message, but he is FAR from the first to speak out against CRT and the other critical theories. You should check out Thomas Sowell, Dinesh D'Souza, Roger Kimball (Tenured Radicals), and others who have been pushing back against this for decades.
      If you’re specifically referring to the issue of CRT being taught in K-12 IN LOUDON COUNTY, Ian Prior is a Loudon County parent, and he’s also the co-founder of Daily Malarkey and an author at The Federalist. He’s a conservative. Loudon County IS a well off DC suburb. It’s not surprising that some of the parents are political. That being said, parents of ALL political backgrounds, of all races, all across the country are realizing what is being taught in their schools and are saying “NO!”

      All of that aside, you had no counterargument to a statement that has universal validity, you just slapped 'muh right wing' on a statement of neutral evaluation and judgement so that you could dismiss it.

    FACTS: 1) Mr. Beatty is the ONLY school board member who tried to help our family, even though we didn't even live in his district. 2) I briefly taught at Freedom High School - allegedly the same high school in which the student was belittled for not seeing race (and the same school where they were allegedly teaching the kids that trashy, racist, anti-white book "White Fragility"? Good grief! See time stamp 10:44 ). It was my supervising assistant principal at Freedom High School who told me to my face that I could not relate to the students because I was white. She told me something else related to my person and my culture that left me in shock. That was probably around 2013. 3) In my family's experience, Loudoun County's idea of "cultural responsiveness" has in ideology and practice meant respecting all cultures OTHER THAN WHITE CONSERVATIVE AMERICAN.
    NOTES: The parent's claim that CRI is rooted in CRT does appear to be accurate, based on the documentation, attitudes and actions I have observed through LCPS. The claim about CRI being linked to Geneva Gay and CRT may be accurate. I briefly taught ESL in another district and may have read a book in my Multicultural Education class at George Mason University's Graduate School of Education that may have been written by Geneva Gay. It's been a few years, so I may be wrong; but I'm pretty sure that we read one of her works, and it may have mentioned CRT. The book is still somewhere in my possession, so If I found it, I could potentially verify that fact if it's the same book.
    That class was very difficult for a white Conservative like me, because the white Conservative perspective - and for that matter, the rural American perspective - were completely omitted from the curriculum. So, not all viewpoints were granted equal weight. There was a general sort-of implied accusation against white people - particularly white Conservatives like me - in the class's narratives. As a white Conservative, it made me very angry to have my people's culture rejected and our viewpoint misrepresented in a negative light. In that class, the only culture I was truly allowed to talk about was an ethnicity that did not play a strong role in my cultural identity growing up, unlike my white Conservative American culture, which formed the bulk of my identity, and through which I ended up on the receiving end of discrimination from time to time in American society, sometimes rather severely so.
    So, the claim that Gay's work promotes CRT may be accurate. If we read Gay's book, then yes, I was on the receiving end of that anti-white Conservative discrimination in graduate school.
    MORE FACTS:
    4) I homeschooled my daughter while in Loudoun County, first because of concerns of anti-white racism, and then also because I knew that my daughter needed in-person learning. For the 2020-2021 school year, she is in 1st grade. I would consider distance learning to be inappropriate for most young children.
    5) While I haven't looked at Dr. Zeigler's links, I did read some of former Superintendent Dr. Eric Williams' links in his "Message on Racism", released the summer of 2020. What I read was absolutely shocking - definitely racist CRT stuff. The links disproportionately supported African-American families; appeared to provide NO support for white families in distress; and provided limited support for families of other races. The links included teaching that whites should be treated worse than other races, in the sense of teaching people that whites would be accepted only through constantly performing subjective acts of anti-racism and being deemed worthy of acceptance - worthy of redemption, with the sin of being white never truly being erased. This ideology essentially taught that all races were to be supported and accepted as-is, EXCEPT whites. There was NO advocacy for white students who have faced discrimination, and that has, to my knowledge, been implemented in LCPS - as in, I reported it to the US Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, because white students were NOT being granted the same level of support as other students. So, Dr. Zeigler may be continuing with the same racist CRT nonsense that really got going with our former Superintendent, Dr. Eric Williams.
    NOTES: The gentleman with Jewish relatives brings up a good point: the intimidation tactics against dissident parents is a form of extremism, and that's toxic.
    A parent mentions Ibram Kendi. As I recall, I believe that Kendi's book "How To Be An Anti-Racist" has been on the list for staff development. The problem with Kendi's approach is that it is not grounded in academic research. It is Kendi's personal opinion, as I believe was noted by Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow, Dr. John McWhoter, a politically-centrist African-American linguist. If you disagree with Kendi, he has a reputation for labeling you a racist, even if you're not. One can note this in his book. Kendi is also known for not debating people. Manhattan Institute fellow Coleman Hughes, a Black Latino American philosopher, has already requested a debate with Kendi. So, LCPS is opting to use a source related to equity that does not appear to be grounded in academic research, nor does LCPS appear to be using it as one of several different perspectives, rather than merely relying on Kendi's word. As I believe that Dr. McWorter noted, Kendi's work, taken alone, is anti-intellectual - it does not promote critical thinking among staff or students. If you're wondering about the references to these African-American intellectuals, google their names along with Kendi's here in TH-cam. They'll probably show up.
    I am greatly encouraged by the resolve of these parents to speak up. My own family felt too unsafe in Loudoun County to do so publicly, but I did submit a formal complaint with the US Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights: complaint #11-21-1037. Now that the Biden Administration appears to be favoring people of color, I have my doubts that anything will come of it - I am once again concerned about anti-white racism from the Feds - but I'll do what I can to speak up - before the public, and before God - trusting that no amount of human corruption can ever deny God's justice.
    May God grant favor to Mr. Beatty and those like him, who are daring to call this racist trash what it is. I realize that Mr. Beatty said something that hurt many. Where he or any of us may be wrong, we stand in the wrong before God. Where things have been taken out of context, I trust that that will become clear in due time. May God help us when we stand up for what's right, and stand against us when we seek evil. Come what may, I look to the Lord for true justice, trusting that He alone has the love, mercy, wisdom and holiness to provide perfect justice, even as we imperfect humans have all collectively been corrupted by sin.

      In a few years, White people will be as oppressed as the blacks were during the Jim Crow years. But only if white people stop being ashamed and realise this is a race war. A war to demonise, Disenfranchise and disempower a group of people simply for the color of their skin. If we all rise up and reject it openly and plainly and confounding all those who accuse us of being racist by the same people who are racist. This war against CRT is just one front in this war, but its very important to win it.

    The truly sad part about all of this is that the board members do not care and are doing exactly what they have been planning. These brave parents are great and decent people however, they are missing the entire point. I am not calling for violence but I believe the only way this shit show stops is when the shoe is on the other foot. Being nice and having these speeches does absolutely zero to oust these evil ideologs. When these parents express that they now fear they may be attacked, These board members have just won the fight! Maybe these board members need to be on a list! See they can commit crime, murder, threat, etc.. and will get away with it as they are being protected.

    "Marx famously wrote, “The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways; the point is to change it.”4 Critical theory differs from pure philosophy in its motivation to provoke change, and thus it necessarily traffics in the emotions.5 Challenging power relations, as critical theorists love to do, means provoking anger, disquiet, anxiety, and even fear in those with a settled understanding of who they are and where they belong. But critical theorists are motivated not only by the desire to provoke and unsettle,6 but also by the desire to provoke compassion. Stowe can justly be criticized for implying that “feeling right” is sufficient. Compassion, however, is not the same as pity; it is the desire to relieve another’s suffering, the desire to act.7 Compassion, that is to say, may sometimes begin in critique.
    In this Essay, I am interested in the relationship among ideology, ideological critique, and emotion. I argue that the ideological critique produced by Marx in the nineteenth century and by critical legal theorists in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries undertakes not only to persuade our minds but also to rally our emotions. To accomplish this, critical theorists show us that ideology is already a technique of emotion management. Ideology makes suffering invisible and compassion inappropriate by assuring us that the status quo is natural, normal, and necessary. Ideological critique, in turn, reveals the suffering beneath the bland façade of ideological concepts like “capital” and “property.” It tries to persuade us, moreover, that this suffering is unjust and unnecessary: that politics and not nature is its source, and that we should act to relieve it.
    Like Marx, critical race theorists therefore want us to care about the subordinated.8 Yet several pitfalls await. First, caring must be connected to moral outrage to produce a commitment to action. Caring without outrage is only merely pity, an emotion that requires no action, only the feeling of sympathy. Critical theorists must strive to cultivate indignation as well as caring in their readers’ hearts. A second pitfall is related to the first. Observing the suffering of others may provoke compassion, but it may also reinforce a sense of their inferiority, their need for our charity. Conversely, a politics rooted in displays of suffering threatens to become “therapeutic,” a politics in which the subordinated seek only public recognition of their wounds and a sense of moral superiority rather than the transformation of social relations.9 Third, critical theory must simultaneously convince us that injustice is everywhere, and that change is possible. Critical race theory, for example, takes the position that racism pervades our institutions, our beliefs, and our everyday practices.10 Critical race theorists thus reject the view that racism can easily be rooted out of our lives. Yet to join the battle seems to require some optimism that improvement is possible. Critical race theory thus walks, along with its readers, a thin line between hope and despair."

    Wow!!! It's a good thing for this board that I am not there. I would put these assholes in their place. I have no tolerance for ANYBODY who promotes hate or racism or anti-black, white, brown, red, and yellow. That pretty much covers by skin color every culture in the world. God said that he loves all of us. It is too too bad that we cannot live by his guidelines. Maybe we cannot be perfect like Jesus was, but if you don't like your neighbor, just ignore him or her.
    Kids are the ones who suffer. I have only been an adjunct teacher and professor. The guy who is a Christian was very good. We are told to be submissive to government, but when they cross the line God expects us to stand up and fight. God's word is above all. I lost two jobs in one month for being a Christian, and I lost one about three years ago in the teaching area for answering a question about God and what the bible say about homosexuals.
    Remember, people. We should do all things in love. The fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, ....., and Paul said that Love is above all. Jesus dies because of Love. When you love, or at least like someone, then things get better.

      My family just moved out of Loudoun County because we were worried that we would be targeted for speaking up. My husband asked me if we should bet a security camera for the home in Loudoun County that we just sold, out of fear that folks would come, stalk us and maybe throw rocks in our windows. We decided that leaving the district was the safer option for our family. What is "cr*p", is LCPS mistreating a huge swath of students and families for being of the wrong race and / or disagreeing with their new ideology. What should be reported is not this video, but your comment. In our experience, that is the real lie.
