As an American who used to live in England, I personally love this set. I know some people think it is a little strange, but to me it seems so very English.

I went on a fly fishing trip to England, Scotland and Ireland about a decade ago and I only stayed in those old pubs when I could. Then sadly I just saw a few months back that some of the ones I had stayed in had been taken over by the local governments to house illegals and have been completely trashed/destroyed. It's seriously sad seeing that culture be destroyed by anyone, let alone illegals who don't have the permission to have came there and should be thankful and appreciate the people who took them in. But no, they're just takers and destroyers. I wish I could remember the names of the places to link you the before and after pics and video I saw. Places that make this mock pub look sparse and garbage. Some of these places world leaders and dignitaries had stayed at and had signatures of their portraits and such all over and now destroyed. And what many don't know is some ppl actually live in those places for long periods of time. And many lost their homes so to speak that they had been in for decades in some cases to make room for ungrateful illegals.

A truly equitable archery club would function as follows. Instead of traditional physical targets at which you launched your arrows and received honest feedback from reality as to your current level of skill in terms of whether you hit the bulleye or outer rings- feedback which would enable you to develop your skill- in this new progessive scenario you would be presented with a very large unmarked wall at which you shot your arrow and wherever it landed someone would then paint a target around it with your arrow a veritable bullseye. Everyone would go home a winner.

This explains a lot. "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion" is the policy in so many US universities now. I know of a case where a white man with a doctorate is turned down for an appointment in favor of a black woman, even though he has a doctorate, years of teaching experience, decades' worth publications, and she has none of those. A technical university in Australia announced recently that their hiring was not kn the basis of merit, rather on race, etc., because they wanted the school "to have a certain look."

Woke = Critical Consciousness. Critical consciousness is the core of Social Justice teaching as it is understood within the Critical Theories. It is a heightened awareness of the world and the power structures that shape it. Being Woke means viewing society exclusively through the critical lenses which sees the world only in terms of unjust power dynamics (oppressed/oppressor) and the need to dismantle problematic systems as an activist. That is, it means having adopted Theory and the worldview it conceptualizes. Under “wokeness,” this awakened consciousness is set particularly with regard to issues of identity, like race, sex, gender, sexuality, and others.
The term originated in Portuguese as conscientização (look it up) from the popular post-Marxist Brazilian activist and educator Paulo Freire, usually deemed the father of critical pedagogy (that is, the application of critical theories to the theory of education). It is an evolved Hegelian/Marxian religious cult that hides as human rights, politics, science, art and culture. Look up James Lindsay's talk at the European Parliament. It is the best summation of Wokeness, its goals and the current situation the West is in. James worked with Pete and Helen on the Grievance Studies Affair. These three are heroes.

Now, today, the situation is the way it is. The multi and mixed people and cultures are here. They live in our country. Now we have to make it work. The woke "new inquisition" BS makes no sense. It doesnt help. The colonal blaming doesnt help either.
The first step is : evrybody places the common law above superstition and above religion.

It's patently obvious that a great many people have no intention of doing so. I doubt that I'D feel included in another country if I couldn't be bothered to speak their language. The difference between equity and equality is similar to the difference between wages and income. It’s fair that people get the same wages for the same work, but equity is demanding the same income regardless of the hours worked, type of job etc. Everybody must have the same income regardless of anything. That is the most distilled version of Marxism you can get. For total equity (which is impossible) you have to introduce unfairness and inequality. This kills all personal inisiative for betterment, ambition and education and societies gradually will collapse. All thes buzzwords mean the opposite in practice. For inclusion you have to exclude. Forcing all kinds of equalities you introduce inequality. We are favouring external traits for competence, abilities and merit.

'Colour-blind casting' is an interesting one- if it were truly colour-blind as would be ordinarily understood you might expect it to reflect the percentages of various ethnicities or 'colours' in the population. Instead people of colour are invariably dramatically over-represented. Have the courage of your convictions, casting directors, and call it what it is- preferential treatment in casting for people of colour.
If in the UK one year some cultural panel of 4 people had one black person and 3 white (which already over-represents black people as they are much less than 25% of the population) and the next year it had 2 black and 2 white people it would be proudly trumpeted as 'a more diverse panel'. More diverse frequently simply means more black. I don't think it has occured to many of our current cultural commisars that it is even possible for people of colour to be over-represented- see TV, theatre, adverising etc.

Omg, I love the set idea and the title!
One thing: the lighting is standard TV interview studio lighting, which is a bit harsh and....standard. The way it is now gives me the impression of an 80s (70s, 60s?) rendition of a tv period play: artificial and clearly shot in a studio. My suggestion would be to change it to lights with incandescent bulbs in old-fashioned lamps, that are more on eye-height. You did that for the background, why not do the same for the interviewer/interviewee? Technically that's all possible nowadays. Similarly, the sound would be less harsh and more relaxed if it was more coffee-shop or cafe-like. Now, I notice that there are people in the room who contribute very successfully to "the look," but they are, i guess, paid extras who are told to be quiet. It's not natural-looking.
So: a more natural, relaxed surroundings would be nice. It would contribute to the impression it seems you're aiming to create.
The contrast in the lighting, as well as the sound, is too high.
    I LOVE the cats.

"...people were treated horrifically on the basis of skin color. No one is denying that." Uhm, maybe, just maybe, THAT is the problem: The amount of people, especially those in positions of power, who ARE DENYING THAT. I am sorry, I agree with most in these series of conversations, but I also think how much undue emphasis is not placed on those very people who do everything possible to deny "THAT". People who actually have power.

Who are these people in power who deny that racist atrocities occurred in the past? I’m sure such people exist, but I see little evidence they represent a significant portion of those in power.

@@fromchomleystreet, do you actually think that it is as simple and obvious as declaring total and utter lies? It is the insidiousness of, let's say, Texas school boards changing/eliminating/diminishing specific historical facts. It is a Supreme Court making decisions based on prioritizing this over that. It is a US president's "there are good people on both sides" crap. It is a media company's "there are good arguments on both sides" imbecilic crap.
But besides all that, do go through the congressional record of the last thirty years of who said what, and it becomes kinda-very-much exemplified.

Cleese and the fellow liberal idiots of his generation who spend so much time berating the state we are now in, never acknowledge their part in our downfall. The fool who championed the Liberal Democrats and mocked the established order for most of his career failed to notice that Woke is merely the logical outcome of all the crap he pushed for decades. The fact that he thinks it ´just´ appeared and he didn´t see it coming is hilarious. Also, the fact that so many commenting here see Cleese as based is laughable!

Each state has 2 senators, regardless of the population within that state. Isn't that a problem with equity in politics?

This is a hangover from when the states were a federation. They wouldn't have joined unless they were equal in the senate. I actually quite like it.
