Thank you for all of your videos! I have two large (9x12) Sarouk rugs that belonged to my great-grandparents and are at least 120 years old. This video, and your others, have been really helpful in helping me decide whether to keep them or not.
They once had metal tags on the corners, but no longer do. The designs of the rugs are similar, but not identical. The central areas of both rugs are dark rose with a blue, beige and brown floral pattern (my grandmother called it Tree of Life, but I'm not sure if that's what it is) and they have wide navy blue borders with a floral motif.
There are a number of white spots on the rugs, and a few signs of wear but it's amazing how incredibly well they've held up for over a century. The colors are not those that I particularly like, but after watching your videos, I can't see parting with them

Hello. Iranian rug enthusiast here 🤗. also I grew up in a city near Sarouk. and generally I'm very interested in carpets from around there; so would you do me a favor and send some photos from your Sarouks? If you have more Persian carpets I would really like to know more about them too!☺

@@CatalinaRug Thank you, this is very informative channel. I have learned a lot from you. If Heriz geometric pattern rug, as @7:51, with 144 knots per square inch is made with 144 or 350 knots in Tabriz, does it make it Hariz or Tabriz rug? Since it was made in Tabriz, with the same 144 count of knots, will it be more expensive? What is the factor in allocation of the name of the rug? Haw common is to produce by one workshop patterns from different provinces ?

The cost of labor for new rugs goes up every year ?
that sounds a bit misleading . i doubt that the weavers have that kind of power over the people that pay them . i suspect the bosses are paying themselves this so called increase in labor cost. This is almost always the case with any product where labor is cheap . take for example coffee . the laborers get next to nothing while the plantation owner gets the highest percentage of the profits . the cost keeps going up and up as the product makes its way to the retail sales . It's the artist in any field that are abused while the middlemen and dealers are raking in the cash . so no, i don't believe the labor cost is really going up in terms of the weavers getting an increase in pay.
