    Is it just me or is this one of the best sounding analogue synths ever made?

    This sounds gorgeous. I had no idea it existed until 2 days ago when watching a bad gear video about Moog and The model D it came up as an alternative. So underrated. A UFO flying under the radar. A bargain now on the second hand market at around 300eur.

    I've been listening to demos of other Boutique synths trying to decide if I want one. But then I heard this. Long live Analog I say. Incredible. So much character.

      I have many of the Boutiques and love them. Each is different as they very closely emulate older synths by Roland. I have the SE-02 because it is true analog and designed by Studio Electronics (the have been working with analog for decades, and mod and repair older a Moogs like the mini model D). I also have the JO-08, JU-06, JX-03 and SH-01a. Cool and fun stuff.

    I found one at a pawn shop... who would pawn one of these? My luck I guess. Updated to latest FW V1.11 and got bank D to add more possibilities. Plugged in my full 88 keys and going wild, the fun is endless. This vid is nice and spacey, sounds great, you got a great groove at 4:30am.

    Great cosmic noodling. It reminds me a little of bridge passages of various Vangelis songs! Have you seen the Kebu demo of the SE O2. That man is a gifted live player! I do wish Roland would have cloned a circuit that wasn't so readily available through existing Moog products.

    • @garyturner5204

      The SE-02 is designed by Studio Electronics, but manufactured by Roland. Studio Electronics has been making analog synths for decades, and repairing and servicing Moogs for all of that time. This SE-02 is an amazing little synth.

      I do have a Mother 32 and I want to get it out and use it. The SE-02 has CV inputs for Pitch, Gate, and VCF. It would be nice to be able to patch the Mother 32 into the SE-02 and use that additional LFO, then be able to use the LFO on the Roland for pitch or whatever.

    The SE-02 is a sick board but I found all kinds of low frequency bleeding when hooked up to a 15" sub. It requires being run through Ableton so you can run it through filters to eliminate the bleed.

    • @EarmonkeyMusic
      @EarmonkeyMusic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have a Typhon too. They're really different. The SE02 is probably better if you want more traditional sounding stuff with a more traditional interface. The Typhon can get you into sonic territory the SE02 won't go. The screen is a bit too small for my liking, and the USB power can be noisy if you don't isolate it. Both are cool though.

    • @Waltharius-mu3nq
      @Waltharius-mu3nq 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks ! I've already a digitone, who provides all the weird sounds I need, so I'm more after a classic sound for my lead stuff. I love the digitone, but I want something more live friendly, with one knob per function, but people always complaint about the tiny ones of the roland.

      @RobertSaintJohn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I seriously love it. I'd played one a month or so ago at Sweetwater's GearFest and fell for it then, but had no idea how deep it could get. The crossmod and modwheel options are crazy. I feel like I need to shut myself away with it for a month before I can start making music with it. My Sub 37 is looking awfully concerned right now.

    • @EarmonkeyMusic
      @EarmonkeyMusic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, I was actually a little unsure about posting a video after I'd had it for 12 hours (6 of which were spent sleeping). But I know people are interested in the sound, and it was easy enough to get that filter sweeping and get some basic sound out of it.

      @EarmonkeyMusic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There is no compression or anything. Just straight from the mixer to my Apollo Twin Solo, into Ableton Live 9. I export the Ableton track and sync with the video and there you go. I wanted this to be as pure as possible so there's no sound manipulation. It's all SE-02
