Ms Rae, I helped my sister raise her girl and two boys. They are my niece and nephews - I was their slightly daft uncle. I thought its only right that I should know them.
The result: I will never DO THAT to a woman EVER!

Meal times! - When my daughters were younger, meal times were like a battle ground. We spent ages preparing and cooking a lovely dinner, put it on the table and that second we'd hear "I don't like that" "I'm not hungry" "I'm not going to eat it" "Can you cut it up for me" "Why are peas the same colour as boogers" 🙄😅

The biggest change is me. I now do all the things I observed other parents doing and said I never would.
I also now look on parents who's children are kicking off with pity, understanding and tolerance, rather than irritation.

After my kids were born the only films we saw for years were for children. TV became one long list of iCarly, Hannah Montana, Jessie, Sonny With A Chance, The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody, Victorious, and anything else that Nickelodeon or Disney decided was essential viewing. It shows how much of a hold it took because I can still remember all the programmes without having to look them up, and my kids are both in their 30s now. ** I forgot all the programmes with the Olsen twins. You would not believe how many films they made. **

There may be a solution to the hot tea issue. It's called the "Busman's Teacup". Usually known as a saucer. Just drink a mouthful at a time from the saucer, blowing on it each time to cool it to drinking temperature. You only need to shut out the mayhem for less than a minute... thereabouts.

Already knowing this stuff (it helps that I've been trained in childcare & been a nanny) & now having multiple chronic illnesses, I now feel relieved that I've not been able to have children (long story) because I know I wouldn't be able to be the Mum I'd love to be. Yes, I'd have loved to have had that privilege, but my multiple chronic illnesses would have robbed me, my hubby & my kids of the joys of being a family. But I do like a good Michael McIntyre show.

When my daughter was three I had to get her to daycare and I was going in to the lab. Being Sweden it's thick overalls in the winter so I dressed her and put them on as well as mittens and proper boots and then went to get my coffee in the mug from the kitchen. I swear I was only gone for a few seconds but when I got back she was naked.
She told me she it was too warm. Nothing much to do but to do it all over again but I've thought back on those days, those precious moments and chuckled many times.
This was about a year after my wife died and there are things there I don't remember. I don't know if it's my mind protecting me or what but since I never drank nor did drugs (I had two small kids at home, 1 and 2 years old) I just assume that has to be it.
    Anyway... thanks for the video.

I also quite enjoy a cup of cold tea!
My daughter moved into her own place after uni so life does return to normal, lol, but yep, it’s a long stretch of sacrificed freedom and having to plan every little thing, but you’d do it all again for them 😊 To be fair, sleep was never really an issue, but the biggest adjustment for me was the dreaded school runs, largely because they had to be done, twice a day…nightmare!

    • @tonys1636
      @tonys1636 ปีที่แล้ว

Lucky not to have had to do the school run as my children's Primary schools were walking distance less than a half mile and they cycled or got the bus to Secondary. When I was a child had to walk or cycle the 2 mile to Primary and later cycle the 5 mile to Secondary. After my Parents moved house was a 20 minute train journey (fare courtesy of the LEA season ticket for each term) with a 2 mile walk to and from the home station or the motorcycle to school when I could afford a gallon of petrol and the tax for the bike. The choice was petrol money or beer money.

Silence.. I miss the silence. There are always noices. Doesnt matter if they are sleeping or not. And when they are finally away for some vacation at their grandparents, friends or school things.. The silence is wrong. You cant even enjoy the silence when you have it. Its so frustrating.
Also watch his sketch called "My Name Is Ackle Ackinckacker!" aka the dentist

Ohhhh boooyyy. Can I relate or what! Bribery, yelling, the same phrase on repeat for 20 minutes......"for the love of God, girl, WILL YOU GET IN THE CAR!!!!!" etc, etc. I can't drink coffee any other way than lukewarm these days either hahaha
Mind you, there's a distinct upside too. She comes out with some (unintentionally) comical expressions sometimes. And bedtime is always a special, magical time when the world stands still. She may be frustrating sometimes, but I wouldn't be without my own personal little angel.

I don't know if it's on purpose, probably not, but when he mimes doing his own zip up, he's using his right hand. Which he also does when zipping up the kids. I think he's done that so much he's forgotten that the zip slide is on the left in the UK if you're dressing yourself :) I used to have a zip up hoodie an American ex got me, and the zip being the other side always caught me out. I think that's testament to just how much he really is doing these things.

I have never had kids. However when my brother and myself were young kids. My mom told me about one Christmas when my mom and dad had out out our presents. Unfortunately for my parents. My brother and I got up to open them before my parents even got a chance to go to bed. I think it was 2 days before they got any sleep. I could be wrong.

    I'm glad that I don't have any kids (that I know about)...😹😹😹
I was a holy terror when it came to pulling off practical jokes...yet had the innocent look that got me off the hook on more than one occasion... Should I mention that I was the mastermind behind 95% of the senior pranks pulled off on my high school campus???
The best one was the school beautification month...which the principal started...where on day 1 I planted plants the principal was allergic to around the office building... I decided not to seed our football end zone with catnip...so we did it with a rival high school as they were reseeding their field... I bought a pound of catnip seed and had it mixed in with their grass seed... I...however...surrounded our field with pansies...
The mural was the most offensive prank of all...and we had 200 people in on that one... We changed the uniforms in the painting to the ones the Germans wore in WWII... Not only did I get my own back on the subjects in the painting...I got them suspended for posing for the photo which I used as the model for the mural... I think only one prank that year wasn't under my supervision in one way or another...and I was sick that week... After three weeks...they called off the beautification project...😹😹😹
My favorite one actually was a musical one...but it was pulled on the most respected music teacher on campus and it involved a hidden starter cannon and renditions of Happy Birthday inserted here and there... The starter cannon was used in Haydn's Surprise Symphony and Happy Birthday arrangements for our music teacher were all throughout the rest of the program... You wouldn't know which was the main melody and which was playing the alternate tune... The cannon was given to him as a birthday present after the concert was over...
The next day he asked which of you wise guys did this...and this was the only time I took credit for one of my on-campus pranks... I didn't expect the remark that came next..."Ladies and gentlemen...in front of you stands a genius... Any time he wants to fill in for me...he can... Give him the same respect you showed me last night and things will be fine with me...". He premiered my first piece "The Unlucky Bachelor Overture" with three minor alterations on my birthday... Those three changes did wonders for the overture...but I decided to go into musical farce after that...
During the Christmas season...I had a piece called Dueling Carolers...with not a single original theme in it... For a piece of 31 minutes...it involved 212 different Christmas songs from around the world interspersed within another including the percussion section slowly beating out "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" or some other non public domain carol...but not so loud that it could be heard over the orchestra...
