March Of The States - Alderon Tyran

  • This original song (yay!) has a bit of story going around behind it:
The Second American Civil War did not really begin as the First one did and honestly the two only share the "Civil War" title due to media reporting on the various secession movements across the states. The whole process wasn't coordinated, like the breakup of the Soviet Union, nor was it civil as some states left wholesale, while other States had individual counties going their own way while waiting for state legislatures to figure out what they were doing. After a few months of states (and counties) leaving, all against the Federal Government's will of course, coalitions formed rapidly as States banded together to share vital resources like energy food and industry.
Arguments question if Dixie or the Great Plains formed their coalition first and Texas refused to join either, opting to go it's own way.
Appalachia went next but when parts of Virginia decided to join the coalition, the Federal Government marched the few troops it had left to secure Richmond and Northeast Virginia to protect DC. Many remaining states reached a quick agreement with a beleaguered Congress to grant them special autonomous status resulting in de-facto sovereign states in the Rockies and Midwest. While the Federal government made certain to control the Pacific Coastline and New England, they lost control of effectively everything else.
I Hope you enjoy the song, and don't mind the lore, Per usual, lyrics below:
    Lyrics:
Oh, Come with me and we’ll march you see, and we’ll travel across this land
We are never alone, we will travel from home, an adventure for a man
These States are ours, so we’ll march for hours, for the battle it has high stakes
Oh come along, and show you’re strong, as we march all across these states!
Oh Step in Time, and sing this rhyme, who love’s their homeland most?
Oh We love our states, and we’ll meet our fates, for vict’ry we shall boast!
Oh The Battlefield, over there concealed, by the fog of the en-e-my there
They all shudder in fear, as we point and jeer, for they’re all so god-damned scared!
They talk all big, but their built like twigs, and shocked we are to face (them)
(‘cause) They’re a bunch of boys, just carrying toys, and they hobble towards our states!
Well, I’ve marched for a bit, but I never been hit, and I’m sure that my luck will hold!
Although you’re right, and It’s quite the fight, I’m sure you’ll all be bold!
Oh with me now, oh count it out, and stand up strong and straight
When you march along, you’ll be fit and strong, un-der the flags of each our states!
From way up north, where we call forth, those hunters with long range guns,
To deep down south, with the cottonmouths, where come the rebels’ sons from
an’ Appalachia, they’re marching with us, the mountaineers so great
And on the Rio Too, we’ll fight so true, to de-fend all our states!
When the battle is won, and the fighting is done, we all will return back home,
Although if you want, you can keep on our jaunt, and with us we will roam,
But you’ll be free, enjoy liberty, and rest among the greats!
Oh you’ll have served, and surely deserved, to live among our States!

    Thank You For Watching!
Last of the Lore-Heavy songs for this month, this song is from the perspective of The "Central United States of America" and so the regions discussed are not *all* of the regions that seceded, or gained significant autonomy. If your state was left out, and you want that remedied, reply to this comment with your state and I'll see what I can come up with for you! Unfortunately, TH-cam has significantly changed their advertising guidelines and so while the channel may be monetized, many videos now cannot be (basically anything in the War or Songs of the Second Civil War playlists). Because of this, I'm not even more reliant on my Patreon supporters who I am excited to mention have grown in number! I'm very grateful for everyone supporting the channel and especially those folks! If you want to support me as well please check out Patreon:

Just really diving into your channel today, and I have to say I'm loving it! Haven't made it through this playlist yet, but wanted to add my 2¢ to the map. I really think Appalachia should be unified in the end. I said it in another comment, but as someone from East Tennessee I have more in common with culture in the Northern parts of Appalachia like Western Pennsylvania than the culture just West of Nashville. I feel like the people of Western Virgina (not West Virgina), Western North Carolina, Western South Carolina, North East Georgia, East Kentucky, and East Ohio would probably have similar sentiments. I also think that Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois have more in common with Dixie than I do. I still love the Dixie none the less, and am honored to be considered apart of the second coming, lol. Keep up the great work man, and can't wait to see some mountain music to represent Appalachia! Also, a song recommendation I hear from Clifton Hicks would be Shut up in the Mines of Coal Creek. It's antother thread of that unified Appalachian history...

When you did Yankee Doodle, the map showed massive amounts of unrest in California, maybe a song that covers that? just a suggestion...

The unrest was covered in "Mother Anarchy". Although the Pacific coast may deserve it's own song...😉

Several songs have mentioned Texas, which leads me to believe they were a significant contributor to the secessionists, “There’s Texas, Big and Rich and Healthy” being a line in New Dixie implies that at least, so Id love to see a song dedicated to old Lone Star

What time period is this set in? Also I feel like southern Florida would be it's own faction, or gray. Everything north/south of Gainesville is basically its own state. Basically going from Disney to Dixie right there.

If I could add a suggestion maybe split Minnesota between the Midwest States and the Great Plains States at the Mississippi River for a more natural and defensible position.

I love the idea behind this, but agree there are some issues with borders. I think Appalachia should include the entirety of the mountain chain, and those who identity with the culture of it... As someone who grew up in East Tennessee I have more culturally in common with someone from Western Pennsylvania mountains than someone from South of Atlanta or West of Nashville. Based/biased on my travels people from South Illinois or South East Missouri fit in with Dixie beter than East Tennessee or Western North Carolina...

Love this, not sure if things would be peaceful in that great region of Eastern Colorado especially if we had failed to take Pueblo in the event of secession as its our most beloved city LOL -On a serious note, great song!
